This is a very well maintained and spacious hotel.
The bed very comfortable and the bathroom the best I've encountered whilst in Portugal. It is a little of the Camino by about 2.5km but worth the walk as the staff really look after you. We were too exhausted to go anywhere else but that wasn't an issue as the staff ordered us a pizza and we could purchase drinks from their bar. In the morning we were dropped back to the Camino path. I'd highly recommend.

Póvoa de Varzim is well placed for visiting the area of Vila do Conde and even Porto which is about 20 km away. Further north there are lovely beaches eg Púlia. And a surf schoool in Estela.
It is on the pilgrims route to Compostela.

Quiet city. Nice beaches with nice promenads.
Quiet city. Nice beaches with nice promenads. Apart from that, a very "dead" city. To the point where we had to go to the Casino to see and do something. And the Casino was pretty bad as well.
Might be good for families, but not if you look for good food, bars, museums or culture.

This is a popular resort with Portuguese families who make up the huge majority of visitors here - not many Brits and not much English spoken. Big clean beaches - sea very cold even in July, Huge activity on the beach - these people play Basketball and Beach Volleyball all day and all night! Vast range of restaurants and other bars etc, and all very reasonably priced - did not feel we were paying the same prices we were paying in Porto itself.

Good location although the weather wasn't great to go to the beach. Loved my sea view balcony. Indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam room was good, not happy about paying extra for that as I never paid extra in other hotels. Customer service was great and I really enjoyed my evenings in the bar listening to the music from the band that was playing..
This hotel is one of the best I have stayed in for many reasons.
It has a great breakfast which also caters very well for vegans.
The rooms are well appointed with mirrors, safe, kettle, fridge and the beds are very comfortable.
The shower is great and lots of hot water.
Very clean. Overall great value for money. This is our second visit.
I've been to many very good hotels, but the staff at Hotel Contriz were simply the best I've encountered. The hotel is simple, but they do their best to help us and it has a very family atmosphere. I highly recommend
