No.26 By The Sea, hotel in Oban

Set in Oban, 700 metres from Corran Halls, No.26 By The Sea offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. This 4-star hotel features free WiFi and a bar.

From the moment we arrived at No. 26 by the Sea in the town of Oban, it was clear we were in for a delightful stay. Greeted with a sparkling wine as we checked in, the welcoming ambiance was just the beginning of a truly splendid visit. This B&B, housed in a beautifully maintained historic building, holds 9 elegantly designed rooms. We stayed in a charming room on the second floor. While the absence of an elevator might be a concern for some, the quality of the accommodations more than made up for the brief climb. The bed was incredibly comfortable, promising a good night’s sleep, and I particularly loved the plush bathrobe provided! The modern amenities blended seamlessly with the historic charm of the building. The bathroom was stocked with high-quality essentials including shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and body lotion. Coffee and tea can be prepared with a kettle. Breakfast at No. 26 is an event in itself. We were asked to order from an extensive menu the night before, and the next morning, a professional chef prepared our selections to perfection. We also loved the common room which features an honesty bar well stocked with wine, gin, whisky, beer and non-alcoholic beverages. Located in a quiet part of the town right at the sea front, the B&B is just a ten-minute walk from the heart of Oban, with its various restaurants and shops. Parking is available and free of charge. The service at No. 26 by the Sea was impeccable, the attention to detail and the cozy yet sophisticated design of the B&B made us regret only having stayed for one night on route to the Isle of Mull. Overall, our experience at No. 26 by the Sea was exceptional. It earns a well-deserved 10/10 for its outstanding service, lovely design, and the overall cozy experience it provides.

FAQs about hotels in Oban

Gateway to the Inner Hebrides

Oban is a city built around a late 18th-century distillery that produces one of the finest single malt whiskeys in Scotland. This normally peaceful town is invaded during summer when tourists use it as a base to visit the Inner Hebrides islands such as Mull, Lismore and Coll, supporting its status as the Gateway to the Isles.

The horseshoe-shaped Oban Bay is sheltered by Kerrera Island with its spectacular Gylen Castle. Award-winning seafood restaurants and lively pubs line George Street and the waterfront of Corran Esplanade adjacent to the harbour.

Take a short walk up the hill to McCaig’s Tower, a structure based on the Roman Colosseum, for the finest views of Oban’s centre and the outer islands. When you get back down to sea level, stroll into and stumble out of the Oban whiskey distillery after sampling the local version of the 'water of life'.

Admire the coastal scenery as you travel a bit out of town to the 7th-century ruins of Dunollie Castle, home of the Clan MacDougall. The Firth of Lorn gives visitors a fanatstic opportunity to try some sea kayaking.

As the capital of North Argyll, Oban has a great selection of hotels, guest houses and B&Bs available on Booking.com.

Oban is on a very pretty bay.

Oban is on a very pretty bay. It was really busy on a beautiful Saturday and the people were friendly and helpful. Coasters and EE-usk accepted us for food/drinks with no reservations! We did not get there early enough to explore the attractions. The train station and ferry terminal were very efficient and helpful. We discovered a choir and orchestra concert which was a real treat!

Oban is a delightful seaside town that offers very good restaurants, shopping (small shops with nice merchandise) and the ability to enjoy the beauty of the bay and all of its activity. Oban makes a great base for exploring the area of walks/hikes, going out on small boat short duration trips to see wildlife, lots of castles to visit or to take the ferry out to the islands. Taxi service is plentiful as are private tour guides.

Bustling little port at centre of Highland area, ferries to outer and inner islands. Train station if no car, plus reasonable bus service to places of interest, eg. Dunstaffnage Castle and Oceanic research facility at Dunbeg etc. Try a ferry visit to Mull and look out for seals , dolphins, etc. Excellent shops and restaurants, all in small scale and within easy walking distance. Lots of points of interest and if weather nice, very hard to beat. Great for Families with young children and Oldies as well.

    GORGEOUS little port town.

GORGEOUS little port town. Lots of lovely little shops, an interesting war time museum, and excellent food and drink in the numerous cafes, bars, and restaurants. Easy access to travel by bus, ferries, and trains. Walked (some of us VERY SLOWLY!) up the hill to McCaig's Tower and enjoyed the spectacular views; followed by a delicious late lunch at Cuan Mor.

We liked the peaceful location , but it was still close enough to the town centre. The apartment had tasteful decor and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. Immaculate. It was so nice to have the kitchenette, compared to being in a hotel, with people coming and going all the time etc. Was a real treat. Home from home. Free parking spot too, rare in Oban!
