Black Bear Manor, hotel in Ouray

This bed and breakfast is nested in the Rocky Mountain village of Ouray, Colorado. Stunning mountainsides that are perfect for skiing or hiking are only steps away.

This was perfect for a night's stay in Ouray - in fact, we wished we could stay longer. The room may have been a little smaller than some of the places we'd stayed on our trip, but it was very comfortable and homely and was in a lovely timber house in a beautiful setting with a lovely breakfast room and lounge area. The host was very welcoming and made a delicious breakfast which was included in the price (unlike most places we stayed), making Black Bear Manor also very good value for money, as well as being one of the nicest places we stayed in during a 3-week trip. Wholly recommend it.

Ouray is an in an excellent location to either drive to or fly to, with a couple of airport options 2 hours or less away. Ouray offers many activities (hiking, hot springs, jeep rentals, etc.,) within the immediate area, and very short drives to many other beautiful locations. ALSO, you really cannot beat the scenery that you can see from basically anywhere within the Ouray city limits. BREATHTAKING!

We drove north from Durango on The Million Dollar Highway and stopped in Ouray. We were there for only one night but I would like to have been able to do some hiking nearby. We drove west to Telluride the day after Ouray. If you are interested in high end shopping and more commercialism, it was great, but Ouray is definitely more our type of town!

Beautiful cute town in the mountains with one main street and maybe couple more. There are no big stores, but there are places to shop and a lots of restaurants. There are amazing mountains around where you can go for a walk and hot springs to soak. I definitely recommend visiting the waterfall at Box Cañon Falls Park.

A very unique town nestled in the mountains.

A very unique town nestled in the mountains. You can feel the heritage of a long gone mining town. Beautiful old buildings and very nice people. Harleys and Jeeps are all up and down Main Street. Unless you are going into the mountains to enjoy the great outdoor a day will suffice.

Spectacular mountain scenery, excellent classical music, average restaurants, generally cordial service people. Take a jeep trip with the San Juan group, it's worth every penny. Excellent general store for a small town. Fun to walk and probably excellent hiking. Pleasant climate. Be careful not to hit the deer when driving.

We loved than every room had a riverfront view with constant white noise for sleep. Two king-sized beds, comfortable sitting area, and porch provided plenty of space for our family. The hotel was walking distance to downtown and hot springs, if not in downtown. The staff was helpful and friendly, and the included breakfast was reasonably well-stocked. The on-site laundry was really helpful for our long road trip. We had such a great time we extended out stay by another night!

Perfect location with a brief walk along the creek into downtown. The owner Julie gave us first time visitors great recommendations for activities in and around Ouray. We drove the million dollar highway, visited Orvis hot springs and went to Telluride during our short visit. The lodge offered nightly s’mores around a fire (complete with complimentary blankets if needed) and a restaurant with an amazing breakfast buffet. Would definitely recommend staying here!

A lovely historic hotel in the heart of Ouray. Easy walk to restaurants, shopping, bars. We had it as an overnight stay only but it really fit the bill. Room was quaint and great value for money. Staff were amazing, great little restaurant / bar next door. Breakfast was ample, not a full buffet breakfast but certainly enough and served in a small dining room, making it cozy.

This little hotel has it all! Friendly smiling employees, comfortable clean rooms, and their own Hot Springs pools! We loved it. The 7 individual tubs appeared to be new and made of cedar (I think). The employees tracked and recorded the temp of each every 2 hours. We enjoyed morning hikes followed by a soak, and then another soak before bed. It was really lovely.

Black Bear was very homey and welcoming. Tom is helpful and fun to talk with. Cyndi treats you to delicious breakfasts . There were special treats at Happy Hour and hot drinks always available. I loved being just walking distance to Main Street Ouray and a block from the river where a bench lets you sit and enjoy nature.

Very rustic Hotel in a beautiful town. Don't expect 5 star accommodations when traveling to a town where the average age of buildings is over 100 years old. The water pressure was great for showers but the toilet seemed small for the average American. For a few nights stay in Ouray I would recommend the Ouray Inn.

Ouray Inn's terrific access to Ouray shops, restaurants & bars; Ouray's box canyon hiking trails; Ouray's hot springs and car trips to Million Dollar Highway/Silverton, Telluride & Ridgway. Owners, Christian & Kaytie, were responsive, helpful and available.

The historic restoration was very attractive with the entire hotel is filled with period furniture and photos; so all of that was very charming. We live in Colorado and were driving the loop to see the Fall tree colors, Ouray was our overnight stop.
