The best things were the Altitude NZ tour with Shannay of winery’s and some great towns including Arrowtown. The restaurants especially Blue Kanu and Botswana Butchery were excellent with exceptional food and service. fergburgers and Ferg Bakery were excellent.don’t forget to visit the gardens for a walk and if you get to do the cruise to Walters Peak Farm have the bbq buffet and check out the farm show.

Queenstown is a beautiful city and I would highly recommend visiting there, it does get very cold in the winter and was a bonus for us, the day we arrived the mountains were bare, over the following days it started snowing and the backdrop of the mountains is just stunning.
Queenstown has a beautiful lake which has a host of activities, cafes` and restaurants and some of the best seafood chowder :) There are plenty of activities to do and some other beautiful places to visit whilst there. The only downfall is the parking, although we never had a problem with gaining a park, it is very busy and parking is limited and also is paid parking.
The best hamburgers is at Fergburgers, they also do a great breakfast which is next door the burgers and their bakery has good coffee and pies.
We tried the seafood chowder at several different places and the best was at the Captains and if you like a cocktail try the applepie cocktail :) I had margaritas and espresso martini's. The Captains also has a good breakfast, you will need to book as it is popular.
Its very easy to walk around Queenstown, we would park the car and then walk everywhere.

There are lots of places to eat, easy to get to everything, just be mindful of the cost we didn't realise Queenstown/New Zealand was so expensive but didn't stop us enjoying everything we did, Gondola, Shot Over River, Onsen, TSS Earnslaw Cruise, Helicopter flight ever drove around to see other small towns and the countryside. Excellent place to visit

Queenstown is expensive for sure but a quaint town with numerous activities available in both the town and the surrounding area, therefore offers both relaxation and adventure depending on your mood. I went during May, therefore the snow hadn't set for which I believe skiing is a popular activity in the region and adds to the landscape with the snow covered mountains surrounding the city. Ensure you have enough money as there are plenty of other places around the South Island to stay which would be cheaper. I enjoyed Milford Sound but they were having a "drought" as it hadn't rained in 2 weeks therefore not as many waterfalls on display but still beautiful. I would go up top to do the luge and paragliding, but don't do the luge if you are tall (I'm 6'4") as there aren't any big enough for you. I also visited Arrowtown which is a nice village just outside to visit with a great vibe. Other activities I would recommend are also jet-boats and plenty of opportunities for bungee and possibly skydiving as this is very temperamental in Franz Josef where we booked and it was cancelled, therefore either here or Abel Tasman is a safer bet.

I spent quite a bit of time around downtown Queenstown.
I spent quite a bit of time around downtown Queenstown. It was very easy to get around and the people were quite friendly and helpful.
I ate at the "Boardwalk" and "Flame" -- both on the wharf side. I was disappointed in the food at the Flame (pork ribs), and also that the waiters didn't explain how large a portion I was ordering. In many NZ restaurants, you have a choice of ordering a "Main" or "Entree" portion. I enjoyed eating at the Boardwalk more.
The scenery is exceptionally beautiful there and the energy of the town was incredible to experience! I'm so glad I decided to visit Queenstown!

This was our fourth visit to Queenstown from Auckland, and the 3rd time staying at the Heritage Hotel. Because there are numerous road works around the town at present( May 2024) and also having to pay for parking everywhere we found it easier to go in by bus and leave the car at the Hotel which gave us more freedom to walk, sight see and get around.
There are an abundance of eateries around Queenstown. Pog Mahones Irish pub. Eriks fish and chips food truck, and of course the famous Fers burgers. A short drive by car or on the bus is the the new shopping centre at Franklin not far from the airport , which takes around 15 mins, where we had lunch at Billy`s cafe, and also lunch at the Coffee club.
In Queenstown, we took the Lunch time cruise on the Earnslaw steamboat up to Walter peak sheep station. Beautiful lunch and scenery.
walked around the Botanical gardens.
Its a lovely drive by car or bus to Arrowtown you can go one way and return via lake Hayes. While there pop into the Fork and tap pub.
This property exceeded my expectations, it might be slightly further from the centre of Queenstown than some other places but it's still short, and it's a lovely flat stroll along the edge of the lake to get there so definitely a lot easier than hiking up the hill to most of the other hotels after a day of skiing! The bathrooms appear to have been renovated since they took their booking.com photos, the rooms are spacious, the beds comfy, the staff helpful, location's great and the price is super cheap!
View of lake from the balcony is amazing, and its nice to be very close to town centre but also close to all the amenities in frankton and the airport. 2 parking spaces included. Comfortable beds and lounge area, good amount of space in the kitchen dining area. Whole apartment was clean and check in process was easy. Was around $1000 dollars cheaper than a comparable apartment in the same complex on Air Bnb so much better value for money despite higher Queenstown rates generally.
Loved everything about our 2 night stay in one of the Studio penthouse apartments (#4a) at the Waterfront.
The view from the large terrace is superb. Lots of natural light, very comfortable king sized bed, deluxe double rain shower, functional mini kitchen, welcoming and friendly staff, free onsite parking, onsite washing machine and dryer and perfect, central location. A few minutes stroll to central Queenstown with many restaurants, bars, shops etc.
the hotel is basic, as advertised. We stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment with kitchenette. I think a single room would be quite tight for 2 people. the heating system, which we never quite figured out, was excellent. We found the rooms warm on nights that got below 5c. The location is good. A comfortable walk to the center of town. Given traffic and parking in Queenstown this is imperative.
It's a cheap place to stay. If you are fine with sleeping i a shared room with others, it is very cheap.
I've booked a single room, which is more expensive but still cheap compared to other hotels in Queenstown.
I had to share bathroom and toilet, but that was no problem as there are more bathrooms and toilets available.
Location is great, walking distance to center and the gondola.
The view from our room is amazingly beautiful. There is a daily housekeeping services included. You wake up and have a nice hot coffee or chocolate outside your room is a perfect relaxation moment for me. The location of the place is perfect. Less than 5mins driving or 15mins walking to the town centre of Queenstown and to the airport. The location is very accessible.
The property is so kid and family friendly. We spent our Christmas here. the view outside the house is so stunning. The view is so breathtaking specially during the sunset.. Very near queenstown skyline. Complete amenities, very spacious and clean. Very kind and considerate host. Highly Recommended, Best Value for money.Looking forward to staying here again.thank you!
Hosts were great! Easy to communicate with for their beautiful home. The location was amazing, we could see the sunrise in the morning over the mountains. Being able to wake up to that view during our stay was the real steal- IG worthy pics for a cheaper price than most motels/hotels. Facilities were super convenient. The heated bathroom floors were a game changer!
I booked the same room at this hotel on three separate occasions on this trip with the family to Queenstown. I did the same on my last trip.
Great location. Super quiet room facing bushland and a little waterfall. Excellent customer service by all staff. Clean hotel and rooms.
Special thanks to Snehal for ensuring all goes smooth for us.
Clean, comfortable, well sized and well equipped room. Hotel restaurant was also very good.
Well located to Queenstown centre and other attractions. Shopping centre, restaurants and cafes within walking distance were excellent. In fact probably better than available in Queenstown but missing the glorious views!
Hotel was right in the heart of Queenstown. The Lakeview Room had a great view of the lake and mountains.
The majority of the staff from check-in to housekeeping were really friendly and accommodating.
Restaurant food, both breakfasts and dinner were great.
Very comfortable. Loved the laundry and kitchen facilities. View was also good (apart from construction going on). Very friendly staff. Convenient location near The Remarkables shopping centre and short drive to airport and Queenstown waterfront.
Great location, close to the centre of Queenstown. A good set up for our family of five, with a one bedroom apartment and adjoining hotel room which had two double beds. Staff were the most helpful and friendly that I have ever encountered.
The staff did their best given the circumstances, the hotel itself is relatively new, also 500m walking distance from town centre although there is a steepish hill to negotiate on way back after a few drinks or a day on the slopes.
Excellent stay at Chalet Queenstown! Location is in the quieter part of Queenstown and a short walk from the centre. Hosts were wonderful and the hot breakfast each morning was delicious! Beautiful lake views from the room.
