Gerardmer is in the beautiful and dense pine forest of the Vosges. It is perfect for hiking, whether it be short and easy around the lake or hard and rocky up the mountain to visit the observation tower. Water falls and isolated villages are abundant. Great place for nice walks in the mountain, with a lot of choices on the duration, and not too difficult. Great place in summer for enjoying a cool splash in the lake, from multiple small beaches, for free. Water temperature during our stay mid August 24 degrees C !
