We much prefer the town to the main tourist resorts.
We much prefer the town to the main tourist resorts. We've holidayed in Zakynthos for more than 20 years now and experienced most things. The tavernas, cafes, restaurants and shops in the town are generally of a higher quality to those in the resorts, although you can pay a little more. Our favourite shop in town is Oneiropolis and if you want to buy some lovely hand made jewellery you should visit Art of P. If you want some delicious bakery items, cakes and traditional pastries then Artogonia Coffee is a must and the newly opened Venier Boulangerie has some wonderful filled croissants, cakes, filled sandwiches and ice creams. We always got our daily Freddo Cappuccino from Avant Garde close to the main square. El Greco on the same square as Avant Garde is great for atmosphere, food and cocktails. Beaches beyond magnificent. Natural beauties, beautiful sunsets. Good food, nice restaurants. What I didn't like about Zakynthos is that it is very touristic. Kalamaki is a great place to stay for families. There is a wide range of fabulous restaurants and a lovely beach all in walking distance. Also be sure to spend an evening on the old road where you have wonderful bars like the Island bar and the Luna bar etc. Not to mention the hidden ones like the Cave bar etc. You can conveniently get to town via bus or the fun train. If you fancy a day out seeing the island etc then Nefis travel always have you covered. As for the people they are warm and welcoming and always super friendly. Big balcony, big lounge as well as a big kitchen, which was very well equipped. To get started everything was offered, water, beer, milk and much more. To our surprise we found a huge package of brioche at our door the first evening. Very friendly and helpful owners. And we never had a problem to find a parking lot. We enjoyed our stay a lot.
