The hotel is in an excellent location, very close to the Vieux Port and right across Palace du Pharo. I loved the art pieces displayed around the hotel. It was very stylish and comfortable. The room was also very clean, comfortable and welcoming. The staff was also pretty helpful to fulfill all the questions. We could park the car at the Parking Pharo right next to the hotel, and the reception gave us a discounted rate at the park.

FAQs about hotels in Marseille

A City Built from the Sea

Founded by the Phocaeans in 600 B.C., the long history of Marseille has produced an interesting and dynamic port-side city bursting with cultural diversity. Watch the fishermen sell their catch by auction at Vieux Harbor or cruise along the Corniche roads with views of the Calanques, dramatic rocky inlets to the sea.

The le Cours Julien and la Plaine areas provide a trendy hangout and every Thursday and Saturday morning, the Plaine market offers its various wares. This is the area to buy a novel from a hip bookshop or watch your kids on one of the playgrounds. There are also plentiful cafes to sip a cappuccino and watch the world go by.

If a culture packed vacation is on the agenda, the Musée d'Archéologie Méditerranéenne, Notre Dame de la Garde and Palais Longchamp won’t disappoint. The unique Unité d'Habitation, designed by famous architect Le Corbusier, contains everything from a shopping street to housing and has spectacular views of the terracotta landscape that makes Marseille so distinctive.

Marseille is a short trip from Marseille Provence Airport, so your holiday can start promptly. With over 100 hotels and apartments available, Booking.com is the perfect place to find great accommodation and start your journey in the largest city on the Côte d'Azur.

Marseille has many interesting and beautiful quarter, and a wonderful museum of Greek and Egyptian archaeology, one of our main reasons for the visit. But, especially at night, the town can have a sinister feel. I very nearly had my computer stolen from my backpack as we walked from the station, and Marseille is not a place where you feel it is safe to carry round your passport. Even the central areas of the town are disfigured by graffiti. So, worth visiting, but take care of your possessions, choose a good hotel to isolate yourself from the town and don't make the stay too long.

Marseille is a cosmopolitan center; you will find there the history of a country (continent) in a nutshell, and the simmering traces of revolt are evident. On the other extreme, you can walk through a city of French grandeur, see the monuments, and stroll and shop on the significant and renovated quai. Been there now 2 times with 5 years in between, and the extremes only became more entrenched. To get a sense of the growing divide between the rich and the poor, consider a city tour of Marseille.

A beautiful city ruined by graffiti and anti-social practices by recent arrivals. You go from slum to elegance to slum within 50m. City authorities have no answers to dirt and squalor. Compared to Lyons it is a 3 out of 10. The people of Marseille should take some pride in their city and not treat it like a toilet.

Don't let yourself be fooled by the messy streets: Marseille is a pearl of a city, lovely people, food, and history. Beaches that may not be natural, but do give easy access to some great swimming. Do: get an RTM pass, take a ferry. Don't: try to drive.

Early June, Marseille was far too hot (30'C+) during the day and, surprisingly, no sea breeze. A couple of waiters in the Old Port Restaurants and bars said that September / early October was probably the best time of year to visit Marseille: still decent weather without it being quite so hot, Very historic and lots of sights to visit, but not in 30'C + weather!. The Marseille Metro system worked extremely well in getting 60,000 or so Bruce Springsteen fans to and from his gig at the Velodrome on the Saturday night. Word of warning though to future gig goers at the Velodrome: if you are seated on the north side of the stadium, you will have the setting sun directly in your your eyes until about 8.00pm in the evening at that time of year: Springsteen was on stage at 7.35pm (2hr 50min show).

Upon arrival, the staff was extremely nice and professional. I was really impressed. Since I have to stay in Marseille a week per month, I'll definitely come back. The hotel was clean. It was a little difficult to talk to the cleaning ladies as they didn't speak French but they were nice. Alexandre and Manon have been amazing. The hotel was pretty quiet despite the fact that it's right next to the highway. Also, being diabetic, I needed lots of ice and they gave me plenty of ice cubes which is not very common in France.

The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance from the city Gare, and if you're in the mood, you can also walk from there to some touristic spots like the Vieux Port, Le Panier, etc. The hotel itself is great, good cost-benefit, the room is small but comfortable, and we had a pleasant stay.
