The Corsican history is the middle ages.
The Corsican history is the middle ages. And Bastia has plenty on show. The museum is good. The citadel it is located in offers lots of nice restaurants and also a very nice, lovely smelling garden. The churches, in Bastia and in other towns and villages are richly decorated, evidence of great wealth deriving from Corsica's position in the trade routes criss crossing the area.Guest review byHubertUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lovely old town, with lots of quaint streets with restaurants, bars and shops. The town beach was lovely but Bodri Beach, 3km away, is beautiful. The walk from L'ille Rouse to Bodri was VERY hard to find, but it can be done!Guest review byCaroline - 6.0

Corte is a good place to do some hiking as the mountains and hills are stunning. We found the people in Corte were not as friendly as other places in Corsica we visited- which does make a differnce! Personally I would skip Corte and stay longer somewhere else (Porto or Calvi were exceptional)Guest review byDarrenUnited Kingdom - 4.0

Saint Florent is a charming little town about 45 mins from Losari. Unfortunately it’s packed with bars and cafes which serve a purpose but like a lot of places in Corsica mean that there’s little or no space for anything else- just feels like it lacks a bit of culture. Again like most places in Corsica any dish will cost you the standard 20 euros and I was amazed (as with other places in Corsica) how sparse the fish options are on menus- I’d expected it to have been a seafood paradise. So saint florent is ok for the day but given the awful beach (brown water and ridiculous winds) unless you like sipping overpriced cocktails and staring at the super rich on their yachts (who by the way are also getting their kicks from sitting back in luxury and staring at you) there’s not a great deal to do!Guest review byNickUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Our stay in Lucciana was chosen for the closeness to the airport. It was very convenient, and made our 7:30 a.m. departure stress- free. We spent our time near Cervione and Felce to visit relatives and explore the birthplace of grandparents and great-grandparents. Corsica is absolutely beautiful. I visited last as a teenager with my mother in 1962. It's even far more beautiful than I remembered it to be.Guest review byLindaUnited States - 10.0

We swam every day in crystal clear turquoise sea, visited other local beaches and the larger, historic towns of Calvi and Isle de Rouse by train. Explored the mountainous areas inland and along the coast by car.Guest review byrobertUnited Kingdom - 8.0

It's a nice cozy little city that I was happy to wind down at the end of our trip. Even though it may not have top rating beaches, I found the city makes best effort to make access easier for tourists. At the tourist info centre they gave me two brochures, one about shuttle bus to sand beach (free of charge) and another about bus that goes along the coast and stop by at cobble beaches in the north of Bastia. As we prefer cobble beaches, we took the bus (1.5 euros). Got off at the first beach option given by the tourist info staff, but this beach was small, exposed to a car street and not a nice setup at all. We walked along the street from there and came across with an old watch tower that stands next to more agreeable beach. The village had a couple of restaurants and a fresh fruit / vegetable store that has local products, so we bought figs and melon to make a picnic. The beach had a lot of seaweed but if you swim far enough, water was clean and no jelly fish (at the time of our visit at least). There are a number of beaches along the coast according to google map, so if you have time, you can explore a better one by using the bus (ran once one hour). They also have a number of restaurants but I didn't manage to find the one I really liked there yet.Guest review byMiyakoGermany - 6.0

I feel like the locals, esp restaurants and coffee places in the Main Street live off of tourism, but hate the tourists for all the chaos they bring to the place. The atmosphere is not nice. Also, it’s too crowded for my taste, but most of the world is like this now.Guest review byGaëlItaly - 10.0

LʼÎle-Rousse is strategically situated so that you can reach some of the most beautiful beaches of the area, like Bodri, with a 5 mins car trip in low season. It is a beautiful town that offers enchanting views from the sea to the mountains. You have everything from supermarkets to restaurants, an old city center with a pretty seafront. You can take easy strolls or long harder walks, if you are an hiker and enjoy all kinds of sea sports/sea activities. We recommend the Club nautique de L'Ile-Rousse, super friendly and helpful staff https://balagne-corsica.com/commerce-et-service/club-nautique-de-lile-rousse/. The charming old city center has plenty of cute shops for your shopping needs.Guest review byELENAItaly
