Right from the booking, the owner was proactive in ensuring a smooth stay. He was in constant contact with me through text, which was very helpful given that on the day of arrival, my flight was delayed, which meant getting in after midnight. Nevertheless, the owner was able to arrange a taxi from the airport and have somebody on site to give us access to the room. Once there, the owner's wife was accommodating, friendly, and engaging. Indeed, the stay felt like a home away from home. Moreover, the La Dhow Cafe on site is a gem. The decor and ambiance are wonderful. I, for one, really enjoyed eating at the restaurant. I highly recommend the hotel.

The location is great--so serene and peaceful. The rooms are cute and modern. The food is also fantastic. The best part is the owner, Joyce. She's so friendly and interesting to talk to.. The other staff members were also very sweet and helpful. I really enjoyed my stay. If you want a quieter place, this is definitely the best choice!

    It was a bit of a challenge for a single woman to get around...

    It was a bit of a challenge for a single woman to get around in the city. I did walk from Le Dhow to the Itsandra where others in my group were staying and it was doable during the day. I don't speak French but it was relatively easy to communicate with people if I needed a soda or a taxi. Most of the individuals I encountered on my walk were friendly and I even engaged in a little banter with some.

    Unfortunately Moroni and the whole island have a very big garbage problem. There seems to be no collection of anything at all. Everything ends up in the forests and in the sea. The roads are all surrounded by car wrecks. The town of Moroni is full of garbage as well. What a difference to all the other islands around (La Reunion, Mauritius, Seychelles, Madagascar).

    The inhabitants are invariably nice friendly and helpful (french a must), and are also unusually good looking. As i said the city itself holds no attractions- even the market is shabby and has no locally made handicrafts.
