We enjoyed the architecture and learning about the history of Zanzibar on our Stone Town tour. The night food market is so vibrant. I do, however prefer the more quiet atmosphere of the other beach villages such as Nungwi and Paje. Stone Town is definitely a must if it's your first time visiting Zanzibar. Its a wonderful town to explore.

We liked the history and the fact you can walk almost everywhere. We were disappointed that so many buildings were under renovation, eg city palace, house of wonders but at least something is being done. You can get into the old fort. Constant approaches by touts for boat trips and city tours got a bit wearing. You don't need to go to Prison Island if you only want to see giant tortoises - go to the (motheaten) Natural History museum and they have some in the garden.

Great travel experience, The people are friendly and always ready to assist. I recommend staying at more than one place when visiting. The places closer to beaches are more quiet because Stone Town is quite busy. The tours are also worth it and beautiful.

The best thing about Zanzibar City (Stone Town) is its...
The best thing about Zanzibar City (Stone Town) is its walkability (like many towns in Europe) with its large labyrinth of narrow streets. There are lots of small shops, and also a big market at one end of Stone Town. There's some nice architecture here and there. The seafront area with the park and cannons is nice. The Old Fort is not as interesting as similar historic structures in Europe and India. But still one should go there as it's an important site in Zanzibar.

I stayed at this hotel with my husband. We booked the presidential suite with a sea view. Waking up in the morning and going out to her balcony to watch the sea, people on the beach and the ships was worth every single penny. Imagine just lounging on the balcony in the evening with the quiet bustle and ocean sounds. We loved it so much that we have decided to return to it on our last couple of days of vacation. The staff is super helpful and welcoming. They have amazing accommodations such as a pool where you can relax
We stayed at the hotel after our flight from France as we felt it was useless to drive one hour to our holiday destination late in the evening. The hotel is located two minutes drive away from the airport. Staff was very welcoming and pleasant, room comfortable with a very nice bed, great bathroom with italien walk in shower, nice terrasse and pool area. A great hotel for a night after or before your flight or if you want a modern hotel in Zanzibar city with easy access to Stone town. Very good value for money.
Beautiful hotel in a stylish expansion of a historic stone town building, just on the beach. Our room was a junior suite, not very big and a bit bare in its design, but with nicely chosen furniture, stained glass and a big beautiful balcony on the beach and sea. Everyone was nice and accommodating. It seemed renovated and clean. Staff helped us with the luggage and booked airport transfer for us.
The personnel was very helpful and available.
They helped us with everything, suggesting to us restaurants, places to visit in Stone Town and storing our luggage after checkout so we could walk around the city luggage-free until the time we had to travel to Nungwi.
To sum up, everything was very very very nice at Rumaisa hotel
