The staff was kind and helpful and the breakfast was adequate. The shower was a good one, but there was no way to drain the sink except to dig out the drain cover.
The location was not convenient and there was no place at the hotel or close by to get food after breakfast. I booked it because I thought it was close to the airport, but it was a $28 taxi ride away using the airport taxi service.

For free and easy travelers, it would be advisable to check the buses timetable if you are heading to places like Daxi old street. We took a taxi from Taoyuan city to Daxi, it cost us NT500. We asked around with the residents at Daxi, and found that taking bus was much cheaper that cost us only NT37 per pax or NT64 for 2 pax. Even from city hotel to Taoyuan HSR, by bus only NT44 per pax instead of taxi estimated another NT500.
One thing I liked in Taiwan, you can keep your travel bag or luggage in a locker situated in most train stations or nearby. it costs only NT30 to NT50 for 3 hours.

People are very polite.
People are very polite. Sign are normally in Chinese so visitor who dont know Chinese may have problem travelling from one place to another and commnication with local people. Temperature can drop suddenly for a few days due to rain and wind during this period.

Worst place ever for travellers, particularly if you don't speak Chinese. Absolutely no-one in the hotel, including receptionist, speaks a single word of English. People were friendly but absolute useless for me. The hotel is a very long drive from Taipei airport!
In short, don't go there!

Within Yaoyuan train station there isn’t much to see.
Within Yaoyuan train station there isn’t much to see. So need to go further to Daxi. But there are shopping malls available within walking distance. A pity we could not visit the Coke museum as we did not make an appointment earlier
Breakfast was good with coffee, tea and variety. Room was sound-proofed. We never stayed in a hotel room without a window but then we remembered going on a cruise without a window. So all was well. The beds and pillows were comfortable. Large TV was good. The shower was good and separated from the toilet. The room was small but adequate with a desk, chair, plus an electric kettle and a mini refrigerator. Receptionist was very nice and helped us stay another night plus secured a taxi for us.
Very clean in places where it mattered (linens, bathroom, floor). Mattress was relatively soft by Asian standards but still firm. If you're a Western then you know exactly what I mean. Rooms are quite large by Taiwanese standards with an extremely cold mini-fridge. AC works well and there's a standing fan in the room. Toilets have a bidet with heated water which is always a pleasure. Shower was hot, although pressure could be better. I stayed in room 113.
The location was good, it was close to the airport and the rooms were HUGE. Restaurants were close by. The evening staff was courteous and arranged a taxi for us to go to the airport. The ground keeping (I assume) staff helped us when we couldn’t figure out the garage door. The sauna in the room was pretty cool!
Great location, plenty of restaurants nearby, and good choice if you have an early flight at the airport to catch. Staff was very helpful, even called for a taxi to pick us up very early to be taken to the airport on our last day. It only took us 20 minutes to get to the airport, plenty of time for our flight.
interior decorations are superb, simple but luxurious. Parks nearby are good places for taking a walk, and “fast food” stores on same streets offer economic alternatives as compared to decent restaurants inside Monarch.
Everything except the location. We wanted a hotel near to airport as we needed to catch a morning flight. We ended paying >TWD500 for the taxi. There is also no eatries nearby.
