Self-Catering Accommodations in Otsu

Great hospotality, excellent location, magnificent decoration.

My stay in Kyoto had a really relaxed, hostel-style vibe that made it easy to settle in. The place had a social, welcoming atmosphere—simple, clean, and perfect if you’re just looking for a comfortable base while exploring the city. One thing that stood out was how helpful the staff were. There was a lady there who went out of her way to help me when I needed directions. Instead of just explaining, she took the time to guide me and made sure I understood everything clearly. That kind of genuine kindness made a big difference in my experience. Overall, it felt less like just a place to sleep and more like a friendly environment where people actually care. Great option if you want something affordable, social, and welcoming in Kyoto.

Excellent location, common bathroom is really great, friendly staff, tasty breakfest.

Location, Staff, Restaurant, atmosphere. I got a feeling of friends, got tips to travel, took care of me when needed, walked to most places or just 1-2 train stops

staff members are so nice. delicious breakfast.

The most comfortable beds we ever stayed in. Friendly, functional, clean. Very warm welcome by the staff (with a complimentary tea set). Tea, coffee, drinks, snacks and complimentary convenience items in the lobby.

Big house with all you needed for living. Many people can stay. Very friendly and helpful owner. Pricing is very reasonable.

Hot shower, laundry, kitchenette

It is an entire house (2 bedrooms and a WC on 2nd floor and everything else downstairs) with a backyard and parking spaces enough for 3 cars. It is situated in a quiet residential neighborhood and the whole house is very clean. It is easy to reach by car and easy to access many attractions in Otsu.

It was a nice relaxing neighborhood, with a comfy but simplistic interior. The beds were comfy, the house was clean, and there’s even a fruit tree in the backyard. Location is pretty good. 20 min walk from train station, and 10 min to all the onsen. Honestly great stay, would recommend.

The place has the feeling of an old Japanese house but is well kept and has good amenities. Great for family, esp. those with children. We enjoyed the place even though when we arrived it looks like bad weather day. The next day we walked to the beach which was beautiful.

Blue Roof Hiei was a wonderful stay in a comfortable well maintained home. The host had excellent communication and provided many useful travel tips including parking in Kyoto. We loved the local sites including Hieizan temple and hiking trails. The house was well equipped with a nice little back yard (our kids loved to play there) and the kotatsu (table with heater underneath) was a great hangout space for watching TV or working. Overall it was a cozy and quiet refuge from the hustle of Kyoto. Our family will definitely be returning here on our next visit to Kansai!

Nice design of the home, quiet area, spacious, easy to get to 2 different train lines

The guesthouse is clean and has 3 rooms, very suitable for group of family or friends!! The owner cleans up the house daily so that the guesthouse feels like brand-new everyday! It even has plenty of toys for kids!! And can park up to 2cars! It is very recommened to family or friends!!

Host kindly let us get early check in at 11 am. They provide good facilities; kitchen, washing machine etc. Location; near Shimanoseki Station but a bit far from JR Otsu staion.

A very nice house near the Biwa Lake, close by the Shirahige Tori, also the Biwako Omni-Maiko Nakama beach. Traditional Japanese home , you sleep on the floor, has all the amenities you need.
