Offering a barbecue and ski storage space, AIBIYA is located in Yamanouchi in the Nagano Region, 4.1 km from Jigokudani Monkey Park. We stayed 4 nights and it was delightful! The hosts are amazing and day trips to Obuse, Nagano and off course the Snow Monkeys were easy by train or foot. The village is small but charming and in a blink you are in Shibu Onsen. Would totally recommend. Shared douches and little ‘noise cancellation’ was what we were afraid of beforehand, but the place was al peace and quiet (even fully booked) and showers were very good. Finally also a great breakfast.

Beautiful garden, big rooms, fantastic Onsen, near the monkey park, very nice staff with decent English, awesome food. In short, everything. Best place we stayed in Japan.

The indoor bath was amazing - spacious and the hot spring was hot. Perfect temperature. The open-air bath was nice, but the hot spring was lukewarm. I guess it was because the weather outside is too cold?! The lobby and seating areas are very relaxing and beautiful. The ryokan let guests take photos of the indoor and open-air baths before check-out at 10am.

A 5-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Tawaraya offers Japanese-style accommodations with free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV. Very tranquil atmosphere. Cozy and beautifully kept ryokan with a gorgeous outside bath available for private use. This is an especially nice place for a couple. The staff are kind and helpful and they speak English.

At Daymaruya Ryokan, guests can enjoy hot-spring baths and traditional Japanese-style accommodations with free wired internet access. Wonderful and caring couple owner. Very grateful he picked us up from the train station and sent us to the snow monkey park. During our 3 days stay we ordered breakfast and it was very delicious and nicely presented in Bento by his wife. The place is very clean.

Shibu Hotel, featuring traditional course meals using Shinshu beef, private hot springs, and shared open-air and indoor baths, is an 8-minute ride from Yudanaka Station via free shuttle bus. this would be one of the best places i have ever stayed (and i travel a lot). the staff, the food, the location, the private outdoor onsen, the showers, the beds were all excellent. the shuttle pickup from train,to the snow monkey park and from snow monkey park and back to train were all included and prompt. stay for at least two nights to explore the village, snow monkey park and area
