Amazing hotel, the rooms were big, clean and modern. The staff was nice. The hotel is beautiful. And the Onsen are open for people with large tattoos!! It was lovely staying here, we’ll be back!

The bed and pillow are among the most comfortable ones I’ve ever slept on. Loved the onsen so much we had to go twice even though we only stayed for 1 night. Room was surprisingly spacious and very well maintained. I only wish we could stay for longer!!

Featuring 2-Michelin stars, a public hot-spring bath and beautiful views of Japan’s Northern Alps, Hotel Hotaka is situated in the in the vast wilderness of Okuhida, just a 2-minute walk from... The onsen was amazing. The onsen on the men’s side consisted of one indoor pool, two outdoor pools, and two individual tubs outside. It was amazing. The hotel itself was a bit dated and the staff, while wonderful, were not as attentive as other Ryokans we have stayed. One other reviewer described it like staying at grandma’s house. This was a fair comparison. Finally, this hotel is very remote, the last place on the bus route. Given the price we could have stayed closer to town, but we loved the Onsen and our overall experience was excellent.

Featuring beautiful sceneries of the woods, Ryu Resort and Spa is located in the tranquil Shokawa Highland area, a 50-minute drive or free shuttle ride from JR Takayama Station (reservation needed). Staff were attentive, food was good and the open air onsen made the experience very memorable. They also had kids Yukata and a small play area.

Only a 1-minute walk from the Ogaki Train Station, APA Hotel Ogaki Ekimae offers modern accommodations with free wired internet access in all room. I liked a lot the location, very close to the station so easy to move to cities around like Gifu.
