This motel was truly dog friendly! Lovely coverlets on the bed so that the dos were welcome. A beautiful spot for the dogs to go. It is close to a number of restaurants and take out options. Reasonably priced. We came back on our way home because of our experience on the way out.

The place was beautiful and so well stocked with everything we could need. Having the ability to cook everything when traveling with a child was wonderful. The Tupperware was a nice touch for our day trips. The bedrooms were a great size with very comfy beds and lots of storage for clothes. My son loved having his own room.

The village is very historical and quaint on the Rideau River. Excellent shopping at boutique shops. Food was excellent at Goose and Gridiron and Mainstreet Eatery. There are several coffee shops and antique shops.

Merrickville is warm and friendly and has lots of nice stores and good restaurants. The Yellow Canoe has wonderful food. We also ate at the Baldachin…..good food friendly service. Main Street restaurant for breakfast. Loved the Bean for coffee, muffins and breakfast. They have good sandwiches too.

There are all kinds of shops to explore, the lift lock is there. You can walk up and down both sides of the streets to all the shops. Very nice and historic little town. We ate at the Wicked Chips chip truck, the food was delicious!!!! We recommend eating there if you have a chance. Looking forward to another visit next year for sure. It is a hidden gem as we had no idea about this place. Go, eat, shop, explore!

If you love small towns with artisan shops this your place!

If you love small towns with artisan shops this your place! Beautiful town to wander through in all seasons. Yellow Canoe café, Main street, Goose and Gridiron and the Iron Forge are all great places to eat. Brewed Awakens has wonderful coffee and treats. Two different places to get either homemade ice-cream or gelato, I recommend trying them both. Enjoy a stay over at 1840, you will not be disappointed! Perfect place for picnic's along the Rideau Canal.
