Spoiled. Totally spoiled by Blu Galapagos. Everything was over the top perfection. The hotel is on the waterfront near the Charles Darwin Research Center and just enough on the edge of town that you feel isolated yet still within a five minute walk to the heart of this sweet port town. We stayed in the Darwin Suite which is primo for celebrating a loved one or yourself. I’ll be back for sure.

Puerto Ayora is a place where you can enjoy the nature and have the facilities of touristic places like different restaurants, bars, etc. Unfortunately, because of those facilities the fauna has gone to other islands like San Cristobal so that is a downside, but if you go with family it is a great place to get a screenshot of what Galapagos is.

A small but beautiful city.
A small but beautiful city. It was a fishing village but has been transformed to a tourist town. The main street -- Ave. Charles Darwin, is full of life, literally -- sea lions, iguanas, pelicans, etc. It's an adventure like no other.

It's a nice, friendly town.
It's a nice, friendly town. It's got plenty of ATMS, several grocery stores, and a lovely oceanfront walk. The fish market is a must see in the morning. There are sea lions who hang around waiting for scraps. I also saw iguanas and pelicans waiting for handouts. There's very nice bars, restaurants, and market stalls. It's a little spendy, because you're on an island. There's things you can do for free, on your own. There's also TONS of tour companies running day trips to all the nearby islands. You can walk most anywhere, and there are cheap taxis as well.

The touristy part and the harbor to the Darwin research...
The touristy part and the harbor to the Darwin research center was full of shops, restaurants both cheap and expensive, street food, and travel agencies. People are friendly and it’s clean and safe.
Los Kiosko is an intense street where people are coming at you with menus trying to get you come to them - at the same time. But they have specials for $5 lunch or dinner plus a regular menu with cheap meals too. Great Ecuadorian food! We ate ice cream everyday! There was a little froyo place on Baltra and a gelato place down the same street closer to the harbor that was excellent. We found pan de yucca at a street food vendor that was magical, though not always open.
Sea lions are everywhere near the water (not in the same capacity as San Cristobal but still).
You can watch blue footed boobies diving into the water all the time and the frigits are out in mass as well!
Everyone is happy.
Also we found our favorite travel agency with the Galapagos Living Travel Agency. They were fair priced and hilarious. Lots of laughs and planning of epic next day adventures.

We liked the laid-back feeling when the main road was closed in the evening and the music of the street musicians. We also liked the accessibility of shops, beaches, wildlife, information centre and harbour,
Above all, we appreciated every smiling face and helpful citizen in town.
A perfect place to stay in Puerto Ayora. Friendly and really helpful staff, nice room with TV, air conditioner, good new matress and pillows. Change of towels every day. Great breakfast. A bit far from the city center (10-15 minutes walking) but for that a really calm and safe street and nice local restaurants next to the hotel. Taxis come every 10-15 minutes even early in the morning, so you can easily come to the city center if you don't want to walk (a taxi ride costs 1,5 dollars). I enjoyed my stay in the Island Home.
Nice quite location. Pleasant 6mts walk to the city center. Good pool, and whirlpool.
Excellent staff. I dropped my wallet on the floor in the room. Next morning the front desk handed it over to me
Good breakfast. Quite spacious and ecologically pleasant surroundings.Provides airport pick off and drop off. I enjoyed my 5 day stay. Super service from hotel staff. Salomi goes out of her way to ensure a pleasant stay. Wonderful hostess.
The Suite/Apartment is very comfortable and well-kept by the owners. Connie was there to greet us and hand us the keys. The building is very safe, and the Suite had a small balcony facing the sea. The owner allows guests to go to the top floor terrace, where you find amenities, sun chairs, and a nice view of the bay in front of Puerto Ayora. Kitchen is modern and has all you need for your stay.
The room was terrific - a spacious, comfortable bedroom, handy kitchen, and a nice sitting area. Patricia, the host, was wonderful - friendly, very helpful, and went the extra mile when we ran into travel issues (unrelated to our stay) during our trip. We were more than happy to return to this property when we went back to Puerto Ayora the following week - it really felt like going "home".
The rooms are spacious and spa-like. We loved the all day coffee and tea station, and free filtered water to refill our water bottles. Very comfortable beds, dark drapes, and delicious breakfast to suit your needs (we were given vegan options every morning upon request). Our family used Puerto Ayora as a jump off point for day excursions. We were always so happy to come home to Cucuve.
An amazing family-run hotel with very helpful and kind managers who really tried to make our stay as good as possible. There’s a well equipped kitchen and a dining area available for all guests. A tank with drinking water also. We got good tips and information about activities in Puerto Ayora and around, as well as tips for supermarkets, bakeries etc. Highly recommended!
Great Place to stay in Puerto Ayora. Close to the center with all the restaurants and piers. Hotel is safe and located in a side street. Area is very quiet. Beds are comfy, rooms are big, Wifi and airconditioning works great. Owners are really friendly and helpful! Breakfast is amazing. Unfortunately we could stay only one night. Would like to have stayed longer there.
The location was right next to a nature preserve, so it was peacfully quiet with only the waves of the ocean and birds making noise. The hotel was gorgeous and rustic. The owners were exceptionally friendly, and truly cared for the wellbeing of their guests like family. La Fortaleza de Haro is the epitome of what hotels should be on a holiday get away.
That’s definitely the place to stay in Puerto Ayora / Santa Cruz. Yogo and Yolanda take care of you and assist with organizing tours, taxis as well with hints you will probably not get elsewhere. The rooms are clean and furnished with care and wit. You will discover clever concepts of upcycled objects in your flat. Highly recommended!
We stayed in four different budget-friendly hotels in Puerto Ayora, this one was by far the best value for money. I love to cook and was really surprised to see quality kitchenware, a sharp knife and a gas cooker, all in excellent order. The owners clearly took pride in their business as the room was sparkly clean on arrival.
There are no words to describe how much I loved this place. The Chalet is located in one of the most beautiful places around Puerto Ayora, where you can hear the ocean and walk to the beach. The rooms were comfortable and they always kept them clean. Having a small kitchenette was super convenient also. Muchas gracias!
The owner is extremely friendly and gives great advises to visit Santa Cruz and the other islands.
-The location of the hotel is perfect, really close to the pier.
- Balcony in the room
- The shared space at the 3rd floor with a stunning view
A hidden gem in Puerto Ayora. Clean room, solid breakfast, and the location is central and most importantly quiet! Pedro the owner is a wonderful host and enthusiastically assisted with all queries and requests. Highly recommended.
Gala House oś located in a quiet part of Puerto Ayora away from the busy and touristy downtown. The property is modern and clean and the owners very kind and helpful. The price is excellent for what the place offers.
