We had a very pleasant stay. The hotel is clean, with a few restaurants and markets in the area, takes 20min by bus to the closest big city - Chania. The receptionist was also very cool and helpful and recommended us nice tours on the first day.

The apartment was next to the beach. Their breakfast was really good. Very close to the bus station. The beach in front of them was sunbed-free. Instead they had them on their very accessible garden next to it.
The Mini Beach Hotel (former Maraka’s Beach) is located right on the beach of Stalos, boasting an outdoor swimming pool.

It is a tasteful, well-designed boutique hotel right on a sandy beach. I could hear the sea from my room- such a wonderful way to fall asleep and wake up in the morning. Nespresso machine in the room and a great coffee set up for breakfast, not to mention the freshly squeezed orange juice. Chairs and umbrellas are free for guests and there is a small, peaceful sitting area to have breakfast and snacks. I was travelling solo this trip and felt 100% safe. The owner Katarina and her team of family members and staff were the absolute best. Everyone is friendly and very helpful. Try the family-owned restaurant, Cosmo, across the street- best Greek food I have had in many years. Definitely the best stay and meal I’ve had the whole trip.
Eliros Studios are located only a few miles west of the city of Chania, in the seaside village of Kato Stalos, just 1969 feet from the beach. Regular busses link the area with the city of Chania.

We like this area due to the beach, the local tavernas and the hotels. Kimatogi is our favourite taverna with delicious specials every day and our favourite hotel is Renieries on the top of the hill, with beautiful view and with the family athmosphere.
You can easily go to Chania with the bus which stops many places in Stalos. From this area the tourist buses also can pick you up easily if you want to visit Elafonissi, Balos/Gramvousa,Samaria Gorge but also to the other area of the Island.
Or with going by car it's also easy to get around and it's near to a junction to the Speed way.

Too quiet not enough to do and see.
Too quiet not enough to do and see. Restaurants not typically Greek mainly serving pizza and pasta. Couldn't get coffee before 9.am. There was no bakery. A lot of properties very run down. Very few general retail shops. It was better to catch the bus into Chania

We booked this hotel to be close to Chania but were very pleasantly surprised about what Stalos had to offer. We spent more time there than expected as it had a good selection of restaurants for both lunch and dinner. Lovely beach and a short(but busy) bus ride to Chania. An ideal base.

Stalos is mainly low rise and less heavily developed than further west. The live music at Dionysus taverna was excellent. The breakfast at Evilion bistro is also excellent and very good value.
There is good walking up into the hills through the olive groves. Lake Agia via Pano Stalos and Kirtomades (turn left at the bottom) takes about 1.5 hours though the cafe is closed on a Monday.

We only stayed for one night as we arrived late in Chania and needed a hotel close to the airport. The apartment was really nice and clean and satisfied our needs. Our plane was delayed and the owner was waiting for as to check in late. We could park a car in nearby car park. There was a lovely swimming pool and a garden. Beach only half a minute walk.
Wonderful little hotel with breathtaking sea view, just metres away from the beach and sea. Comfortable and very clean apartment, WiFi connection worked in the whole hotel area and even on the beach. Everything needed (shops, restaurants, bakery) is on walking distance and all the beautiful places in eastern part of Crete are in hour of car-drive (Elafonissi, Balos, Chania, Rethymno etc.). The staff was very helpful and friendly - special thanks to Giannis who organized operation "teddy bear left behind" :).
I was driving outside on the way to an excursion and the hotel got my attention for a few seconds. Instantly, I said that I want to stay there and I reserved a room for two days.
It was much better than expected. One of the most good experiences of this summer holidays. The bus is just outside so it is easy to visit the center of Chania.
The room has a very good desk for someone that wants to work. The view to the sea from the balcony is excellent.
The apartment was clean, comfortable and well equipped with a large balcony with a sea view. Very quiet location but only a few minutes walk from local beach, restaurants, shops and bus stop to get into Chania. Ideal base for exploring western Crete by car. Host Stelios was very friendly helpful and generous. Ideal for us and we’ll definitely be back in the future. Late September is a great time to visit- not too busy and not too hot
Pro’s:
+ modern and clean room with air con
+ directly on beach
+ breakfast in beach bar is an awesome way to start the day
+ there’s a bus (KOLYMPARI line) from chania every 20 mins
+ even side sea view has great views
+ bar staff very friendly
+ food in the hotel restaurant actually the best of all the restaurants we tried
+ smart-tv in apartment, so you can watch Netflix etc.
The location across from the beach and set back just enough to have peace and quiet. Pet friendly, the mattresses had a pillow top and was very comfortable. One of the bathrooms had a bath tub (but no drain plug) not a big deal as I rigged up a plug. Extremely clean and roomy. Each bedroom had air con, but the main living area had a ceiling fan. We will definitely return.
We spent a lovely holiday at Ilios village. The villas are beautifully located, very clean and well-equipped. Also, Dimitris is an amazing host - super kind and helpful. It’s worth renting a car, local beaches are just few minutes drive away and Stalos is a good starting point for longer trips to visit Crete’s west and south coast. Highly recommend!
I loved that it was right on the beach and felt secluded even though restaurants, shops, paddle board rental and cafes are within walking distance. The house has all the basic amenities to cook and feel at home. The view, outside courtyard and eating area and price point are great for budget travelers who still want a private beach experience.
Excellent services, very helpful staff, good size room with kitchenette and balcony, family oriented hotel with good size children's pool, very good pool bar operated by Athena who was super helpful and smiley!! Food served was very good and the hotel is only one minute walk to a beautiful beach!!!! Great value for money!!
The apartment is just 10 meters from the sea and the beach. We enjoyed the view from the balcony every evening. The location and view are really amazing! We were very happy with the cleanliness of the apartment. Amazing property, definitely recommend and will come again next time in Crete! Thanks for everything!
The staff was super friendly and helpful, they recommended very good sights and restaurants in Crete. The room was clean and well-equipped.The view from the terrace and from the roof garden was my favourite. The pool was big enough to swim and it had a perfect temperature.
Was my second time in Anniko, and I would do 3rd time in the next visit to Crete. Owners are very kind and always ready to help, presenting you with delicious home made sweets. Less than 5 minutes walk from the beach and all the amenities.
The apartment was next to the beach. Their breakfast was really good. Very close to the bus station. The beach in front of them was sunbed-free. Instead they had them on their very accessible garden next to it.
Gianthea Studios exceeded our high expectations for facilities, cleanliness and quietness. Its location was within walking distance to supermarkets, restaurants, beach and not far from the main Stalos area.
A very family friendly hotel with a life guard at the pool. It is in a quiet area of Stalos however still within walking distance to restaurants and beach. The reception are so very helpful.
