Being the cultural and economic hub of the southeastern part of Korea, Gwangju is worth visiting if you're interested in this country. Also, Gwangju is the best place in Korea that hosts and preserves historical heritages regarding the military/dictatorial government in the last century. You're strongly recommended to visit the former Jeonnam provincial office and Jeon Il Building to witness the history of brave Korean people.

I stayed for two days and I think it was suitable for my needs.
Make sure to go to Sajik Park and to the observatory there, sunset up there was so beautiful! Also there's a café so you can get a take-away coffee to the observatory deck and enjoy it there (or in the café if you prefer that, there are large windows with great views too). When you go in the evening, there are light installations in the park and reflected to the tower.
Make sure to know basic Korean when you go to Gwangju or have a good translator since not everyone speaks English. I speak a bit of Korean so it was okay.
T-Money card works well here and it's easy to get from the airport to the city by subway.
If you are BTS ARMY like me, be sure to check out J-hope art in the Penguin Village and Gwangju Kpop Street!

Gwangju is a city of culture, arts and history.
Gwangju is a city of culture, arts and history. The people are kind and the food is great as well. Head to Yangrim-dong if you want a plenitude of cafes full of aesthetic. If you’re looking for places to eat, Dongmyeong-dong is where you should be. And Asia Culture Center is great to chill even after the sunset. The best part is that everything listed above is very close to each other. I visited Gwangju about 6 times and I can’t wait for the next. I love this city!

Of all the street shopping areas I have visited so far, I really enjoyed Gwangju's Chungjang-ro. We also visited the May 18 memorial and public cemetery, which had great information about the democratization movement.

We really appreciated the educational opportunities at places such as the 5.18 Archives, Liberty Park and Asian Cultural Center. For Americans.like us, learning.about the U.S. role in the military slaughter of Gwangju citizens in May 1980 was very important. The beauty of the Bamboo Forest and mountains nearby.was.stunning. Subway to the 5.18 Liberty Park (KDJ Convention Center stop) was easy enough to.figure out.

Gwanbju is wonderfull city, but I had litle time to visit because I participate in Fina Masters.
I eat all around between swimming pool and Prince hotel.
It is easy only if you know whwre exactly leed bus lines. I could not find som kind of touristic card with bus lines, I found only card with metro line. After few day and big time to study Gwangju it was easier but stil fatiguant.
The hotel is quite good. It is located in a big city, but not in the center, so you can reach it without a lot of traffic jams. There are many shops and restaurants nearby, also a pretty big supermarket. The rooms are clean, the staff nice and the beds comfortable. The rooms are well sound-proofed. There is a parking lot at the hotel, when we were there it had free spaces - but if it does not, there is another one close by. The next street from the hotel is interesting - it is a street with only hotels on it. But generally the area is quiet.
The hotel has recently re-opened after renovations, and the result is a bright, modern, well-equipped hotel with cool, comfortable rooms. Our rooms had views over the city to the mountains. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, and negotiated the language barrier with good humour. The breakfast - a Korean cooked breakfast with supplementary bread and rolls - was very tasty. The hotel is in an area with many restaurants and bars (though we were not troubled by noise), and also very close to the Asia Culture Center and 5.18 Archives.
Just a lovely super charming and impeccably clean home. Every detail was thought out with care which made our stay even more comfortable and warm. The location is in a hip area just steps away, but it's just far enough away that it is quiet on the street and inside. The host Eunbee is communicative and super quick to respond to any inquiries. Would definitely book again anytime I come back to Gwangju (incidentally my new favorite city in Korea!).
Good value. Even though the hotel entrance was modest, the inside was modern and clean. The room was comfortable and decent size. Hotel staff kindly lent me a USB charger because I left mine at home. They gave a complimentary full toiletries kit on arrival in addition to the soaps already in the room. Breakfast was simple and "OK", not many places give any breakfast.
The hotel and rooms were stylish, modern and clean. The staff was quite friendly and accommodating, allowing me to wait in the lobby while waiting for my food to be delivered and ordering a taxi when I was leaving. They also restock the bottled waters in your fridge for free. I didn’t order the breakfasts included so I have no opinion on them.
Free parking. The room was very clean. Breakfast was included and quite good with plenty of options (could've used more fruit though). Good location in Gwangju, walking distance to many good streets for restaurants and bars. Just get over the fact that its on kind of a sketchy side road. Good price for what we received.
- Large room
- Huge, modern bathroom
- Friendly, English speaking staff
- Excellent WiFi. Probably the best WiFi I’ve ever had in a hotel/hostel.
- Lots of useful things provided with the room (toothbrush, comb, razors, cotton buds, etc)
- Fantastic breakfast included in the price
The breakfast buffet was excellent. They served mixed Korean and American menus. The hotel location is a walking distance to everything from across the street restaurants, convenience stores, and entertainment. There is a free parking, toiletries, warpter bottles, etc.
location is great. alot restaurants and fashion stores like nike, zara etc right next to the hotel. very easy transportation access as the subway station was a block away. and taxi pick up area were also a block away
The hotel is located close to the Bus terminal for express buses which makes it perfect if you need to get a bus early in the morning. The room was clean ans simple but is certainly enough for a one or two nights stay.
Excellent hotel in great location. Room was really spacious with a nice view. received check in details via text so didn’t have to formally check in at the desk. Great gym on the second floor too
I liked that its close to some sights and many restaurants available. It was nice to have Korean style breakfast but the coffee was weak. I liked that there were a variety of amenities.
