Jaffna has always been a lovely place to visit.
Jaffna has always been a lovely place to visit. This time we went to Kayts and saw what was left of the old Fort as well as Hammond Hiel across the water. Went to Point Pedro as well...It was a pity that there was a postbox at the northern most point of Sri Lanka - but no postcards or stamps!!! Seeing flamingos and other migrants across from the causeway to Kayts was a bonus. Food is always great and we would recommend Lavin's for some excellent parathas and paper dosai.ppriyanthiSri Lanka - 6.0Scored 6.0
Jaffna was not as I expected .
Jaffna was not as I expected . Staying where I did you really needed your own transportation. I tried unsuccessfully to rent a bike ,and was told by Click hire place they were booked out for a few days ,I wondered about this as I hardly saw any other tourists ,and other companies didn’t return calls . Fort was really disappointing compared to Galle ,and they charge admission ! Restaurants recommended by lonely planet good , but Mangos has closed ,the Malaya is very good ,as is Akshatai ,but avoid Green Grass ,it’s horrible ,I couldn’t imagine staying there ! Very different to Colombo and other suburbs, but Jaffna has its own unique vibe. Pretty laid back I would say. The locals are friendly, but communicating with them could be a little challenging unless you spoke Tamil. Plenty of things to see and many different foods to try.

Its a quiet village with less population. Nice for a quiet getaway. Small and cosy town. Food is good and friendly people. Temples are good to visit too. The trip to Nainativu is unsafe. Boats were overloaded and I was afraid of a stampede because of the crowd. Other than that, everything else was a good experience for me.singam - 10Scored 10

Takes two days to travel around all the attractions, first day travel the east from Jaffna town with a rented vehicle which is much cheaper than the other areas. Nagadeepa temple and Nagamma kovil was most attracted places to visit in Jaffana along with Jaffna Fort and Library and Museum. Although the Road to Nagadeepa has to be repaired . The City and Roads are clean and the people are very kind

I wrote to Nisha, the owner, and he replied that he would be in Colombo at that time and pick us up to the villa. We had a free transfer from the airport to the villa. Owner Dilan is very helpful, arranges Jaffna islands and Point Pedro round trips with tuktuk. Also could use a bicycle for extended excursions. The train line behind the house was not disturbing as trains do not operate during night. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful. Dilan is also owner of D'Villa Garden House. We got a free upgrade to a deluxe room, so that was great as well. The room was quite big and spacious and with a balcony. The swimming pool was nice and pleasant to use, and not crowded at all. They even let us check-out one hour later.
