I have always wanted to see Vicksburg after learning about...
I have always wanted to see Vicksburg after learning about it's importance during the Civil War. The Ken Burns documentary covered this major battle, and how it changed the course of the war. The military park was incredible and we spent the extra money to hire a tour guide who rode with us as we drove through the park. Absolutely worth every penny! We stayed at the historic Bazsinsky House just across from the beautiful courthouse, and within walking distance of downtown and the river. I wish I had done more research ahead of time about what all there was to see, and ended up not having time to explore more of the area. We had a delicious dinner at the 10 South Rooftop Bar and Grill that overlooks the river, and saw a beautiful sunset. Went to the Civil War Museum in Downtown and had a wonderful visit with the owner. His collection is incredible, and he is so knowledgeable.

Nice town with some history and quaint antebellum houses.
Nice town with some history and quaint antebellum houses. Lovely Southern hospitality. A couple of good museums. Good music and beer at the Key City Brewery (although food not the best). If you have the time then visit ‘Under the Hill’ and especially the Cemeteries and War memorials run by the National Parks Service.

Great little town but like many towns in the US it is dead...
Great little town but like many towns in the US it is dead commercially.
However there is a very interesting Civil War Museum run by an individual who is a memorabilia collector. He has created a very interesting little museum packed with all sorts of weapons, equipment, clothing and documents from the Civil War era.
There are all sorts of retail outlets and eateries outside the town, but i am always dismayed that there isn't a civic support for bringing businesses back into the centre of small towns and cities.
Its the same in Lafayette LA, Chanpagne-Urbana IL and Clarksdale TS.
The town centres are dead.

The historic area we were in was extremely impoverished.
The historic area we were in was extremely impoverished. The area was filled with abandoned and run down buildings. The downtown area wasn’t bad, but everything else surrounding it was beyond terrible. We found an amazing restaurant downtown. 10 South Rooftop-it was the only highlight of our trip there.
If I could give a negative star I would customer service was rude insulted my disabled husband we checked in for 10 mins and left the property to get another room at a different hotel. The front desk was so rude and used Foul language on to her friend visiting about us. Property was dirty and smelled like Marijuana. The TV was plugged in by a orange electric cord. I can go on and on. I requested a refund still waiting to hear back from red roof inn and booking.com
What a treat to stay in this historical home. It is an antique but the owners have done their best to upgrade the amenities to make you comfortable and maintain the integrity of the history. The breakfast was outstanding southern fare to fill your belly. The staff were attentive to your needs and making sure your stay was a pleasant experience. I would stay here again next time I visit Vicksburg.
A stunning property located in a quiet residential street just a short, pleasant walk from downtown Vicksburg. Very friendly, welcoming staff and I could swear the bed in the Fannie Suite has magical healing properties; I’d been plagued by back & shoulder pain driving and sleeping in random beds during my trip, but 1 great night’s sleep at Oak Hall cured that. Highly recommended.
Our host was delightful. He gave us a tour of the house and spent time at breakfast telling us about the history of the house. The house was eclectic, full of interesting items that the owners had collected over many years of renovating homes and traveling. We enjoyed our short stay in Vicksburg and the comfort of the Bazsinsky House.
It's wasn't good stay because of the Toilet was stopped up bad the water overflow it's wouldn't good down had to use the garbage cans to flush it down the small was bad it's was to cold to go down to the office this use to be good hotel to stay at am having second thoughts about staying again not good enough ☹☹🥺🥺
nothing, not as advertised. says it is at the casino and with a river view. you can barely see the river because this hotel is across the street from the casino and not on the river. The rooms and bathroom are dirty. stains on the lap shades hair on the floor wet splatters on the headboards. dirt on the beds.
This place was exceptionally quiet. Like I have never been in a hotel room or even a room in my house that was absolutely quiet. It is by a street and you do not hear anything at all. The muffins were excellent. We ended up chat with the host for a couple hours after breakfast. Very enjoyable.
I was concerned when we pulled up to the hotel and saw it was a exterior corridor property. But my worries went away as soon as we entered our room. It was very clean and updated. The king bed was super comfy. All the staff we encountered were very nice and helpful.
Good breakfast area, pretty nice pool. Breakfast personal was very sweet. When closing she told us to get more if we wanted before she closed. All other hotels so far just shut down without saying anything. An extra star for that!
Great rooms, very clean. Staff was very nice. Breakfast was good, and the fresh fruits were great. We did not test the pool but it seemed quite nice. Hotel Very family friendly with nice restaurants near-by!
