FAQs about hotels in Salzburg

The Hills Are Alive in Salzburg

Made famous for its “hills alive with the sound of music”, Salzburg is a very pretty town filled with romantic buildings and squares. If you are not yet aware that Mozart was born here, then you will be as soon as you land at Salzburg W.A. Mozart International Airport.

Further your education about this musical prodigy at his actual birthplace, Mozarts Geburtshaus. The city is the namesake of the Salzach River which runs through it, and alongside this beautiful river lays the Schloss Mirabell, one of the many impressive castles within the city limits. Schloss Mirabell and Hellbrunn with their picturesque gardens, beautiful galleries and impressive halls make the ideal spot for a picnic during summer.

The white-stone Hohensalzburg fortress is perched upon a green hill and offers magnificent views over the city. Or, you can escape it all in the Kapuzinerberg forest, which offers splendid Alpine vistas- a reminder of Salzburg’s natural beauty.

The shopping centre focuses around Alter Markt Square and Getreidegasse, the latter is a quirky street with old-fashioned signs indicating what each store sells. With 125 hotels and guesthouses available on Booking.com, your stay in Salzburg is bound to be as pleasant as this city is pretty.

Blown away,, what a lovely city and we will be back next year for a longer stay. We felt safe and comfortable as we could find our way about easily plus the locals were friendly and it was so lovely we could live there.OK, keeping it real, we were there in May which is my favourite time to travel so we were blessed with superb weather and yes, it would be interesting in January and as I have been to Vienna many times in January I can say visit when the weather is tipped to be right for you and this city will not disappoint. The Coffee was good, tourist walks great as was the food and if you are counting steps, you will get a huge boost in your activity count as it was all too easy to want to walk more and we did and loved it.

A fabulous city for Sound of Music lovers, and this tour is a highlight. The old town and Hohensalzburg Fortress make a great visit too and this is a delightful, compact city that has beautiful architecture and fine restaurants. Everyone seems more relaxed and friendly here than in busy Vienna and Saltzburg is well worth three nights to take in most of the sights. To ascend the castle and sit for lunch at the restaurant near the exit for the funicular and enjoy spectacular mountain views was a wonderful moment for us.

Easy to walk around on the flat and all places close by. Bought SalzCard enabled free travel plus entry to many attractions. Mirabelle Palace/Gardens, up hill to the Fortress, all the Sound of Music musical sites, and a boat ride enjoyed. Views from Fortress across Salzburg and to mountains were lovely. Locals very friendly. The cable car was in repair throughout April and we had snow too, so we couldn't go up but think this is only once month per year re cable car so worth checking before you go if this is on your agenda.

    Salzburg is a great city.

Salzburg is a great city. The castle is a must see via the funicular railway up to the top with spectacular views over the city and beyond. Across the river is the Mirabell Palace and gardens which is a beautiful area to sit or explore. We enjoyed sitting outside the Glockenspiel cafe for coffee in the morning and a refreshing drink in the afternoon.

Varied and delicious breakfasts with spacious dining facility; convenient and spacious parking garage on lowest level for a small daily fee; convenient location within easy walking distance of the river, Old Town, and most other sights; comfortable beds and pillows; everything very new, clean, contemporary. The hotel is much nicer than. it looks in the photo above. It is located at the corner of a tree-lined street and across the other street, behind a row of buildings, is one of the well-known cliffs in Salzburg.

This is a nice apartment complex with very modern facilities. We had superior 2 room apartment with Kitchen. The facilities were very clean and comfortable and quite specious. The staff is very courteous and helpful. The apartment is about 15 mins walk from the Mirabell Palace. There is a very convenient bus stop right in front of the hotel and the bus routes 1,2 and 23 takes you to the old town. The Salzburg main railway station is about 5 min walk. There is an excellent Italian restaurant around the corner.

Super hotel. About a 20 min walk from the train station and just on the edge of the old town, so everything was within walking distance. We had incredibly hot weather while we were visiting and having air-conditioning was a god send. Fabulous breakfast- I miss it already! We purchased the city card from the hotel, which really allowed us to take advantage of everything Salzburg had to offer. There is an outdoor pool within a 20 min walk of the hotel that was lovely for some down time and escaping the heat.

LOVED the location and history associated with the hotel. On top of a mountain, great to hike to castles 🏰 and other historical sites. There is a short walk on a trail to get to a lift (if you don't want to walk down the mountain) that will take you down to the old part of the city. Or take a taxi to Old Town for €14. Lots of shopping, restaurants, beautiful buildings, etc.. Scrumptious breakfast buffet with lots of choices. Rooms very clean and spacious with wonderful views of Salzburg and the Alps.

Very affordable and nice hotel for an overnight or two, with a decent location, close to the border with Germany and the airport, but also fairly quick access to the city centre of Salzburg. The room was very well appointed, spacious and the bathroom was nicer than most 5-star hotels. The location is perfect in old town, close to everything you want to see but not too noisy. Convenient parking across the street. The service though was what made the difference.
