A popular time for tourists is Darwin’s dry season that starts in May and ends in October. If you prefer it hot and humid, then the end of the wet season can be spectacular when the waterfalls in Kakadu and Litchfield national parks are at their mightiest.
Australia’s wild frontier can be reached all the way from Adelaide and Alice Springs along the picturesque Stuart Highway that ends at Daly Street in the CBD. Outside the centre are the natural surrounds in Palmerston, Humpty Doo and closer by is Mindil Beach with its famous Sunset Market.

Darwin is an easy city to get around. The bus service was easy to navigate and free for seniors. The dining scene was interesting and we had some great meals. Mindil markets on a Thursday was heaving and the food overrated, however the sunset was lovely.

We loved our trip to Darwin unfortunately we only stayed for four days so were not able to see as much as we wanted to but we still had a good time. We used the free public buses that senior card holders can use and this got us to the Casino, Mindil beach market and Fannie Bay. We went on a sunset cruise on the harbour and took advantage of the free shuttle bus that goes around the waterfront to get us to and from the boat.lindaAustralia - 8.0Scored 8.0

Great town with some good bars and restaurants, the waterfront area is an upper class feel as apposed to down town. Heading out to Berry springs and Litchfield national park is a must do if you like swimming in pristine waterholes and of course going to the Mindil Beach night markets and watching the sunset.

Darwin winter we found very humid, the heat was expected. City is vibrant with good food outlets, but not a lot catering to Ceoliacs. Street parking, be aware it is all timed meters. Everything about Darwin is great. Weather, sights, trips to nearby attractions, food, all great. You can walk from here to everything in town...did I mention the food? Cheap car rental next door to accommodation is handy.

Darwin has a vibe, full of lovely cafes and nightspots and a very interesting history from World War 2 and Cyclone Tracy. The Waterfront area is beautiful, lovely well maintained parks and fabulous markets. Evenings, everyone comes out to see the spectacular sunsets over the water. Evenings are warm - people go out walking, outdoor exercise classes and pop up eateries galore. Gateway also to Litchfield, Katherine and Kakadu - what's not to love!MaryAustralia

If you're looking for the Hilton this is not it, but, its clean, it is well maintained, the managers and cleaners do a cracking job. The towels are changed regularly, as is the bedding. There is a fridge and TV in each room but no cooking facilities. The hotel also has a nice pool and BBQ area. Air-conditioning was A+. Its in a cracking location on Smith Street so close to everything. Bars, Mindil Beach, Cullen Bay, Darwin Waterfront etc

The view from the balcony was absolutely amazing. Watching the storms roll in from a disatance. So close to all Darwin has to offer. I found it quite convenient and close to restaurants. And the waterfront is a quick scooter ride away. Absolutely loved the stay and have already booked another weekend in a few months time.
