Up to standard on Chinese big cities. Many food options, great public transportation, cleanliness in most touristy spaces. Several attractions scattered throughout the city. Would recommend 2 days to explore Chengdu.

I made the mistake of visiting Chengdu when it was SNOWING and Wet Snow / Icy Rain drizzling for a few days in January 2024. That kind of (very rare) weather kills everything touristy in Chengdu: Most hotels have no heater. You need to use the AC......after one night's AC blowing, I woke up with a bad cough and developed a bad cold soon afterward. One tip: Ask your hotel for a movable heater for your room: Much better than using the AC.

Sichuan is well worth visiting and Chengdu, the capital, has an interesting history. The people are very friendly and there are plenty of places in and around the city to explore. The metro is excellent and the restaurants plentiful. Wouldn't go to the giant Panda Breeding Base if I visited again - very crowded and in January crowded but very little to see and parts of the centre shut and locked. Although the site is enormous, and it would take at least a day of walking to get around the whole place, there are I believe better and more intimate Panda centres in the area.

Interesting and culturally rich.
Interesting and culturally rich. Clean and technologically advance.
Friendly people and a safe country to visit and walk around.
Very affordable food.
However, everything will be in chinese, the signages, the menu and the language spoken. It was really challenging for non mandarin speakers to communicate there.
Not a place to shop though, cannot compare with Bangkok or Beijing.
The Panda Base is not worth a visit if you want to catch Pandas, because they will be either hiding or sleeping. However, that attractions have many instagram worthy spots to take pictures.
Kwan Chai alley is a must!! with very affordable opera shows.

Chengdu is a busy and popular travel destination in China.
Chengdu is a busy and popular travel destination in China. The museums are impressive and have amazing cultural relics. It can be hard to get a booking to visit a museum, the booking process can be difficult (mostly online via wechat). Some places in the city are very crowded, keep that in mind.

Chengdu is the capital city of Sichuan know for spicy...
Chengdu is the capital city of Sichuan know for spicy Hotpots and pandas mainly. It’s a city that never sleeps with every possible entertainment you care to think of. Restaurants of every type, bars, clubs, spas, shopping centres and oodles of culture. What’s not to love?
It’s reputed that Chengdu has the most beautiful women and wherever you look serenity abounds in stylish attires appropriate to the sultry heady heat of summer.
The hotel room was very clean and spacious and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The stuff was friendly and professional as I arrived around 10pm and the concierge was able to make good recommendations on food to eat. (He noted that we may not be comfortable eating spicy food upon arrival to Chengdu hence he recommended us a restaurant selling 猪蹄汤 which we enjoyed very much, unfortunately we didn’t get his name but we will always remember the good service) also the breakfast was excellent! Will definitely come back here again.
One of the best hotels in my life, I'm quite picky though. At first I messed up the location cause on Google maps and MapsMe it showed the old address. It was at night, the receptionist was so caring and kind that called a taxi for me (free!), upgraded my room and sold me delicious panda beer ;-) The hotel was extremely beautiful and super modern equipped, breakfast was modest yet tasty, the staff were wonderful. Actually that night was the best part of my vacation!
I really enjoyed my stay here! The room was beautiful and didn’t feel like I was in the city centre. It was really clean and comfortable. The location is good and there’s plenty of taxis and didis available all day nearby. The staff were wonderful and I ended up extending my stay by one more night. It’s about a 40 minute drive from the airport which is good. The restaurants nearby are excellent and I would fully recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Chengdu!
A cozy apartment with two bedrooms, which is clean and with all facilities for a comfortable stay, great for the family trip.
Arthur is thoughtful and responsive, trying to help with anything you need. We had a delightful experience in Chengdu thanks to the valuable tips from Arthur on local food and destinations.
The terrance with nice decorations on his rooftop is a plus, you can sit and have a chat there in the evening.
I like the comfort of the hotel room. I like the staff (especially female staff) who understand my needs and attended to it promptly. I want to commend the cleaning auntie. She is always so attentive and cleaned the rooms well. She will always asked if we need anything for our room , whenever she sees us going out. Also the counter staff are very helpful with our queries.
Good big room and bathroom. Staff were friendly and welcoming, they also speak English. There is a delicious restaurant in the hotel too. It is in a great location near a metro and on a fantastic street. Upon leaving, we were gifted two toy panda plushies which was so thoughtful and amazing. We would stay here again if we came to Chengdu!
This was an interesting experience. I think the hotel's system is really great. After booking, they added my WeChat, sent me a step-by-step guide, arranged airport transfer, told me the car's number, and were really nice.
The room was comfortable, and I can't say anything bad about anything else.
Very nice, modern, spacious and clean hotel in a central location and super convenient with a metro at the end of the street. We enjoyed the breakfast (especially the fresh noodles!) and free laundry service. The staff were helpful and friendly 😊
We loved this hotels ! The staff was very friendly and helpful, the food was great and the room, the sheet and towels were new and was very comfortable and clean. We liked the slippers as well. We really enjoyed it while our stay. Thank you!
The concierge and the reception staffs were friendly. Room was very spacious as well and we had a very good nights rest here at Somerset Riverview Chengdu. Also the price per night was very reasonable for its location. Highly recommended!
Very nice hotel with large comfortable rooms and good amenities. The breakfast was nice with flexible times (closed 10am on weekdays; 10:30am on weekends). Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the staff at the breakfast room.
Everything was great, we had a wonderful stay in the hotel, the staff is cheerful, kind and very friendly, always happy to help or provide you with information.
Location is close by the subway and many local shops and restaurants.
The hotel is located in a shopping mall. The room is clean and well equipped. The swimming pool and gym is really nice. The staff is super friendly and helpful. There is also a small indoor playground for kids.
Trusted hotel. Good locations. My first choice in many countries. Stayed in Holiday Inn Express in Hong Kong , Auckland and Europe before. Will book again in Oct 2024 when I go to Chengdu.
Location is conveniently central to all Chengdu has to offer, room is chic and stylish, and the bathrobe is so comfortable I was thinking about buying one from hotel
Very convenient location, close to many attractions and subway. The restaurant in the hotel is good taste and worth to try. And they provide free laundry.
