Howard Johnson Paragon Hotel Beijing Central, hotel in Beijing

The Howard Johnson Paragon Hotel Beijing is located in Beijing's East Chang'an Avenue, opposite and a 5-minute walk from Beijing Railway Station (also the subway station).

I were surprised about the huge rooms of the family suite. This is perhaps the biggest suite our family has ever used. We like the breakfast and the service directed by Li Nanxia. Our friends also mentioned the food is of great variety. We also like the eating environment in a big and bright open-air area.

Kempinski Hotel Beijing Yansha Center, hotel in Beijing

Boasting 6 dining options, Kempinski Hotel Beijing Yansha Center is just a 5-minute drive from Agricultural Exhibition Center and 10-minute drive from China International Exhibition Center.

The hotel is stunning and the rooms were huge with a large bed. The price was very good value considering how immaculate the hotel was. The breakfast buffet selection was fantastic and was a big highlight. As a tourist I wasn't totally sure where would be a good location to stay. The hotel is about an hour drive from the airport, but is worth it. If you're taking tours to the classic tourist locations (Great Wall, Forbidden City, etc), then its in a good location for tour groups to pick you up from. The area is very nice and situated just by a river - lots of nice restaurants near by and a shopping centre next door was very convenient.

FAQs about hotels in Beijing

From Chinese Dynasties to Cultural Dynamics

A world-renowned gem, sprawling Beijing has magnificent monuments and peaceful parks. At its heart is the world’s largest square, Tiananmen, surrounded by important museums and the amazing Forbidden City. This 15th-century, walled complex of palaces neighbors Jingshan Park and Beihai Park with its imperial garden.

Across from Tiananmen Square is the ultra-modern National Center for Perfoming Arts, a beacon of the city’s culture so impressively displayed at the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the Bird’s Nest Stadium.

To its east is the UNESCO World Heritage listed Summer Palace, a lakeside retreat of emperors, while also UNESCO listed is the grand Temple of Heaven in Chongwen district, where remnants of Ming dynasty city walls are visible. Nearby are several hutongs, narrow alleys with traditional architecture, that contrast with wider, modern roads like Beijing Financial Street, the city's business area.

The most popular Beijing shopping street is Wangfujing, and other must-see sights include the giant pandas at Beijing Zoo and the Great Wall of China, an easy day trip from Beijing.

As you would expect from the capital of the world’s most populous country, there are a good number of 5-star hotels in Beijing on Booking.com, mainly in the Dongcheng and Chaoyang districts. There are also several hotels near Beijing Capital Airport in the northeast.

I visited China after a long time and was surprised with the development that has taken place in 5 years!!! incredible. Beijing is easy to travel as they have efficient subway system. All subway stations have convenient restaurants and stores. Prices for taxis, food and everything is reasonable. though I found hotel rooms to be more expensive than 5 years ago, almost doubled. I will visit China with family as there is so much to see there.

I visited the most part of the Temples but what I loved it was Bei Hai park. Beautiful as it could be and not crowded at all, so you can enjoy the day at peace. The public transport works well in Beijing but not a lot of people there speaks English (even though its not my first language) so it was quite hard to talk unless using some translator (google does not work there). I would avoid going during spring and summer time, its super hot and very dry, I felt dehydrated and quite dizzy most part of the days, visiting the great wall under 37 degrees (C) wasn't easy.

    Great, safe, friendly city.

Great, safe, friendly city. If you love the history of the Country there's loads to see and do, but for most, once you've seen one temple you've seen them all. It's worth going just to see the wall, but places like the Summer Palace, are also lovely walks in nice gardens. We went to see our daughter perform as Christine Dae in Love Never Dies at the Polly Theatre at the end of it's tour of China. So, we would probably have never gone if it hadn't been for her. So glad we got to experience the show, the City and the Country. Just watch out for the technology and make sure you have a VPN, eSim and Chinese sim with various credit cards attached. If you don't then you wont have any contact with the outside world and will never be able to pay for anything or order a taxi.

    What an amazing city.

What an amazing city. I loved the short glimpse I had of a modern, clean and safe city. There are so many things to see and do. I managed to visit a few of the ancient sites such as the forbidden city and some of the lakes to the north of that location. I felt 100% safe at all times, both day and night. The subway is amazing - so fast, so cheap.

Beijing is a nice city, with many places of interest.

Beijing is a nice city, with many places of interest. But those places are véry touristic and crowded. Mostly Chinese tourists. To experience local life in the hutongs (old narrow streets) is the best part of Beijing. Highlight is the Chinese Great Wall; especially at Jinshanling (challenging, not restored, best scenery and less tourists). More places: Fayuan Temple, Markor building (architecture, design and art), Ri Tan Park, Panjiajyuan Antique Market, Gulou Street (with some vintage shops) and surrounding Hutongs!

Although initially many foreigners prefer more international places like Shanghai or Hong Kong, Beijing remains the most indisputably "Chinese" of all Chinese cities. Traffic can be insane, and those 12 lane roads intimidating, but the people of Beijing are invariably helpful and find foreigners kind of "cute," Fantastic food scene, excellent shopping (go to the Silkstreet for high-quality fakes!) - and, if the weather is nice, it is one of the most pleasant cities to just stroll around in. The air quality seems to have improved as well- it was all blue skies in May of 2024.

This small budget hotel was clean, comfortable, had a lovely courtyard,a nice restaurant attached, (terrific Peking duck!), free laundry facilities and a helpful (non-English-speaking) staff. Tucked away on an authentic hutong, the property also is a bit of a shrine to former occupant, American journalist Edgar Snow, whose landmark 1937 book Red Star Over China gave the Western world its first close-up look at the revolutionaries who would come to rule China. Building is a 3 floor walk-up, but porter carried our luggage up.

This hotel has it all. Location is prime. The staff are friendly. The rooms are thoughtfully designed to maximize space and comfort. Features such as a laundry room, business center, gym, massage chairs, outdoor space with cabana and waterfall, and more add to the overall ambience of the hotel. I stayed in three hotels during my time in Beijing and Holiday Inn Express is #1 on my list. I will definitely stay again when I return to the area.

Excellent location. Close to main hutongs for tourists, subway and airport express line to the old airport. The staff was very friendly and always willing to answer my questions. Comfy bed. Always had hot water and the heating worked well. I was a little concerned because Ive stayed in other hotels in the hutongs and those weren't always reliable.

The hotel is very modern and hi-tech, there’s an app you can download to access all the room facilities in your room so it’s super convenient and very interesting if you’re into that kind of stuff. The staff speak English which is a major plus because not many hotels in China have English speaking staff. All in all, we enjoyed our stay very much.

Very close to the metro (1mn) and walking distance to Wangfujing (5/10mn). Convenient store in front of the hotel, good breakfast. Fair value/price given the location.
