There is nothing in Ipiales. It's a dirty place, with shady characters that you wouldnt miss much by skipping this place completely. However, it's THE border town so you have to go here. We had a good visit with great views of river/falls at the sanctuary, and especially enjoyed the gondola that saved us walking uphill back to taxis but pricey at $7 pp. The mall was nice (Grand Plaza) with a good food court.JoAnnUnited States of America - 6.0Scored 6.0
A frontier town with a frontier approach!
A frontier town with a frontier approach! Sunday is not a good day to visit as most places seem to close. We were warned that after dark some locations can get a little more dangerous - so just be careful. Sadly the big problems with immigration have impacted heavily on the town. If you come here to shop do your research to find the best deals.
