The staff was very friendly and helpful when we needed assistance! The staff cooked our breakfast to order and it was delicious and filling! The common areas had tables, chairs and hammocks! The pool was beautiful and had lounge chairs as well. There was a field for children to play on and a big swing chair! The tropical plants and trees all around was so refreshing and we loved hearing the birds and monkeys in the morning. The air conditioning was key!!

Amazing views. We saw white faced capuchin monkeys and all sorts of birds (including hummingbirds and tucans) from our very clean and comfortable room.
Very kind and helpful staff. They were even patient with my Spanish :-)
The restaurant had good food. The best Gallo Pinto we had during our trip so far.

There are so many locally owned places to stay in Costa Rica making it a game of chance to find a good one, Tecal is a good one. When we arrived we found Tecal to be a popular destination as the parking lot was full. People used it for a vacation stay as well as for business. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff helpful and friendly. It was a short 300 meter walk to the beach. The beach is a national park so there is an admission fee, for Costa Ricans it is only 1200 colones. The breakfast was included and was very good. Service in the restaurant was excellent. There is a small super across the street, another restaurant, and a grocery store (MaxiPali) within walking distance.

The restaurant and the servers are the best part of this place and is why we booked here. Carla and Andres were incredible servers and were always doing everything they could to ensure we enjoyed our meals. Being celiac the 100% gluten free menu was a treat! It was so nice to be able to look at the menu and order anything. Even my partner who isn’t celiac said the food was very good. The reception staff and housekeepers were also very nice and did a great job cleaning. The views were very beautiful during the day.

This ocean-view room is located high in the mountains. There is unity with nature here. At night you can listen to the sounds of the jungle, admire the stars and the lunar path in the Pacific Ocean. The bonus is a chic restaurant with delicious dishes!

Uvita is a lovely area to stay in, with beautiful beaches and plenty of waterfalls to visit in the area. We recommend taking a trip to visit the mangroves in Sierpes. Our kids loved the surfing lessons they had here.

Uvita is my favorite beach in Costa Rica.
Uvita is my favorite beach in Costa Rica. It's huge, you feel alone on the beach. The wildlife is beautiful. Tons of restaurants and places to walk. There are different beach sectors that you can chose from. It is a National Park, so you have to pay, but it is well worth it. One ticket gets you onto all the beaches. Staff in the Nationals Park is very helpful and there are patrols on the beach from the police and the National Park Guards.

Uvita was ungodly hot -- so hot that we really couldn't enjoy the sights. Even the ocean is hot. An airconditioned hotel room is a must! Even if there are many interesting birds and animals here, unless you have a high heat tolerance, you'll likely be miserable.

It wasn’t my favorite place in Costa Rica.
It wasn’t my favorite place in Costa Rica. Part of the problem was that it was so unbearably hot. I couldn’t go out and walk around comfortably. I didn’t go to the beach because of the heat and that would’ve been a big attraction also although my hotel was not far from town because of the heat again I found it unbearable to walk into town and walk around which I’d like to do when I’m traveling, so basically, my problems with AveUvita were weather related

Uvita is not the typical beach town, as it's very spread out and you need a car or a taxi to move around. In Uvita, you can visit the Marino Ballena National Park, which is possibly the most famous attraction in the area, where you can do whale-watching boat tours and other water sports tours like snorkeling and scuba diving.
We visited the Marino Ballena National Park and found its whale-shaped beach very suggestive and unique. However, we were also very underwhelmed by the poor housekeeping of the park. There was rubbish everywhere and this is disappointing and upsetting given that this is supposed to be a protected natural reserve and you also pay for the access at a substantial price per person, which should guarantee thorough housekeeping.
We went also to Playa Hermosa on our way to Uvita, but the amount of signs warning visitors of possible thieves, ruins a little bit of the vibe and it's not very relaxing having to watch your back all the time. Overall the beach is very nice and nothing happened to us. Since Playa Hermosa is also free to access, we recommend a visit, at least a stop by.

The beach and marine park area are well worth visiting.
The beach and marine park area are well worth visiting. Costs approx $6 which is very reasonable for Costa Rica. We saw humpback whales and heard them singing on our boat tour. We also snorkelled. It wasn't the right season for dolphins (they come in autumn).
There is not much to Uvita itself. It's very spread out and hard to walk around. Most of the roads are unpaved and dusty. It's perfect for a bike though. Many places (including the marine park) close down at 6pm, including most of the tour operators. The restaurants are good. There is a yoga place there but it only seems to have classes Mon-Wed.
The Tracopa bus service in the area (and from SJ) is very comfortable, punctual and reasonably priced. However you really need a car to explore the area properly - waterfalls etc.
the most friendly hosts!!!!
very courteous
we could ask any question and they was helping us
nice and clean rooms, fridge, A/C
nice pool to refresh
they also have hammoks and sunchairs in the garden
darts, table tennis and some games you could borrow
the hotel is next to some supermarkets, and 5 min walk from Uvita Nationalpark
the food from the Restaurant was amazing because they made the pasta by their own:)
breakfast was amazing and so delicious
fresh water any time
i stayed there twice and i really appreciate everything!
We loved everything about the hotel! The beds were really really comfortable, well decorated rooms and apartments, a good sized pool and a jacuzzi, and surrounded by nature. It really was an excellent place to stay. The owner, Sylvain was an excellent host, and incredibly helpful. We booked two tours through him and he was so very helpful when our taxi didn’t turn up when we were leaving the hotel. I would definitely stay here again, and would recommend hotel Faremiti to anyone looking to stay in Uvita.
This place was everything you think about when traveling to Costa Rica! Lovely home with windows everywhere which completely brings the outdoors in. Garden, pool, AC in the bedrooms for great sleeping at night. Little things we loved that were unexpected. Bluetooth speaker for use by the pool was a great bonus! Weights and workout bench if you so chose to use. We will be coming back to this place! One of the best places we’ve stayed in our many travels and the host was so great!!
I left hostels in my 20s but I overspent so I had to save... and this hostel exceeded my expectations! First of all - it has the cutest interior I have ever seen in a hostel. Second, female only dorm was very clean and I met some European girls. Third, the location and the garden and the mini gym... it's very close to the beach. You almost feel like you're in a hotel with friends. There's a restaurant on the property that makes good breakfast.
This was the most amazing hotel I have ever stayed in. Photos don’t do it justice. It is utterly beautiful and unique. Small family business and owners on site. Very laid back but highest quality service. Had the best massage there. Kids enjoyed it too. Family suite perfect and we had room 1 which is the only one with an outdoor terrace. Vegetarian food was plenty and lush. Cannot rate this highly enough.
One of the best places where we stayed in Costa Rica. The owners are very friendly and welcoming, there is also a restaurant here with excellent Spanish cuisine.
The house itself is really spacious and clean, ideal for 2 people or small family of three. The location is really close to the beach, which makes the stay super comfortable. We really enjoyed our staying here :)
No sound proofing, so you heard every single truck and car go by, even though we had the room on the opposite side of the road. The owner was great and very accommodating. Breakfast was also good. The hotel is for sale and you can tell it needs some work. If you are a hard sleeper you won't have too many issues otherwise bring ear plugs. Good for one night's stay.
staff was amazing
hotel location convenient to town and beach
nice pool with shallow end and waterfall feature
best gallo pinto I've ever had!
room was spacious
had outdoor balcony
fabulous food options within walking distance
kitchen was well equipped
Dan and Sue are the BEST hosts! They took care of everything from a hot breakfast, comfy cabin and even a lift to the store for a few groceries. The property is also in a perfect location for walking to the waterfalls, butterfly garden and bamboo forest.
Nick and his dad were super welcoming and friendly. Nick quickly turned into a friend and couldn’t have been more sweet to my friends and I. I would definitely come back to this hostel. Oh and Marley was a huge plus (best dog ever!)
The casa is situated in a beautiful location above the river in a jungle setting.
It has all the amenities that I needed for a really comfortable stay for 3 nights.
And it is close to Uvita and Playa Hermosa is just down the hill.
The best kitchen I have used during my trip. If you're into cooking, stay here. The surrounding garden adds a lot to the location, it's easy to feel at home here. Also, staff was more than helpful.
The location is great to amenities and rests along the jungle…best of both worlds! We liked the outdoor kitchen and our host, Tana, is wonderful and goes above and beyond to assists here guests.
It was really comfortable and besides sleeping in a dorm it felt like staying in a luxury hotel. Everything was really clean and the kitchen was okay too. There was free yoga class!
We loved everything about this place! It was by far the best hotel we stayed in during our trip to Costa Rica.
We are looking forward to coming back there!
