Samara is a fairly busy small town that has a lovely beach.
Samara is a fairly busy small town that has a lovely beach. There are many other beaches nearby. It has quite a few restaurants and cafes to choose from. Lots of great fish. Prices are "reasonable" by comparison with some fancier locations along the coast, but all prices in US dollars are high for Canadians.
Just two hours from Liberia airport, this town has a laid back feel. Not sure how long that will last.

Samara is a funky little beach town with lots of little eateries and shops, and a number of restaurants right on the beach undercover with enough variety to make it interesting. There were also enough activities and beaches in the area to enjoy.

This is a great little town with a beautiful beach and yummy food options. We wish we could have spent more time here to explore the different restaurants a bit more. We hope to come back soon! We also really enjoyed the neighboring beach of Carrillo, which we drove to - but it didn't have food options the way Samara did.

A wonderful walkable town with many restaurants, excellent couple massages, friendly community, and beautiful beaches. I did the Warner preserve tour with a native Samarian - he was EXCELLENT - a fantastic visit. My husband and I are thinking about coming back and staying much longer. The community seems very low key - just the right pace for us :)

The beach and ocean are beautiful.
The beach and ocean are beautiful. There are lots of restaurants and fun bars to have a drink. The city government has to work harder at keeping the town clean. Sidewalks, store fronts and some restaurants need to be improved, there were so many flies at one of the restaurants where we ate, that we ended up having to leave. There is very limited parking, there should be a place where excursion buses can park further away from town, it feels chaotic.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. This is the only place we stayed where we were asked if we wanted our garbage changed and room tidied. Large kitchen area with designated spots in the fridge for each room. Our room was spacious, clean and quiet. Very convenient location, close to the beach, restaurants and grocery store. We appreciated having cold drinking water as Samara was by far the hottest stop on our journey! There is no designated parking however we had no issue parking across the road.
Honestly could not fault this property, we stayed here for 3 nights at the end of our trip and it was a perfect way to finish an incredible stay in Costa Rica. All the rooms face onto the beautiful gardens and pool, with a small seating area for each room which was a very peaceful and quiet area. Breakfast was cooked fresh each morning, and each breakfast was different and absolutely delicious! The staff are so friendly and are happy to help with anything. Would definitely stay here again!
It doesn't get any more beachfront than this place, and the beach itself is wonderful. A few minutes walk down the beach from the small town, and well away from any busy roads, so very peaceful. A fantastic and unpretentious place to relax, with a superb restaurant - some of the best food we had in our entire Costa Rica stay was eaten out on the patio. Really pleasant and helpful staff who almost instantly felt like friends. Highly recommended, and we hope to be back before long.
The room had a lovely little balcony with chairs and a hammock which was great to relax on. The air conditioning worked well, the bed was comfortable and I loved the pool area. The pool is small but refreshing to get in on a hot day and there were comfortable sun loungers. It was only a short walk to the beach, Samara feels compact but big enough to have a range of restaurants- perfect for a relaxing last few days of my trip to Costa Rica!
Garden: well-maintained with beautiful flowers. my wife really likes.
Shower and bath room: very large space.
Beach: it is located rip current. but we enjoyed sitting down in front of the beach. The hotel provides several shade between trees. we moved the beach chairs to one of them and enjoyed a relaxing time.
Breakfast: basic but enough and tasty. we can choose one from 4 options
Restaurant: no restaurant for lunch and dinner.
We really liked the hotel. It was affordable, convenient! Only a 5 min walk to beach! In fact in Samara everything is no further than a 5 min walk. Pool area was nice and quiet, room a good size.
Unfortunately we never got to stay overnight as my husband suffered an emergency and had to be airlifted to hospital in San Jose.
The owners were really wonderful and understanding! Highly recommend Hotel Belvedere!
The location is really nice! Close to the beach and nice chill out area at the hostel. Our room (Economy Room) was very small. For 2 nights ok but for a longer stay you should book a bigger room. The restaurant is nice. Samara Beach is one of the best beaches from Costa Rica. Very beautiful and you can surf (5$ a board per hour)! You should bring a hammock for the beach. Best Thing Ever!
Location: Easy access to town. If you stay in hotels located farther east than this hotel, it is recommended to walk on beach to/from town.
Beach: stunning and super clean. we really like to relax in the cabana. they have also several beach chairs are on the beach.
Restaurant: The taste is good. they take time, but we were there on vacation. It was not problem.
It’s a small hotel, pretty quite, walking distance to one part of Samara beach and 5 mins by car to playa Carrillo (very nice beach especially at sunset). The hotel has all the key features, big beds, A/C, small nice swimming pool. The onsite restaurant is a decent option or Samara restaurants are at 10 mins by car (Ahora si is an excellent Italian one).
The location was perfect! Basically beachfront because it took a 2 minute walk to get there! I liked how the rooms were private and you can sit outside and hangout. The pool was amazing! Very nice place. I have been to Samara before this trip a few times and this is the best hotel I stayed at. Very nice staff as well.
private and serene setting . friendly and relaxed vibe. rooms are comfortable
and unique . feels more like a home than a hotel . big pool , beautiful beach and surrounding lands . the wifi was surprising reliable in restaurant and too. . I am
coming here next time I’m in Sámara
Best location in town with amazing team of staff who know your name. Great beach restaurant with unique decor, live music and a great Italian chef. The hotel has lots of amenities so you definitely don't need to leave unless you want to.
Great rooms, quiet location and close to the beach, amazing breakfast, beautiful and clean pools and incredible hosts. Would go back anytime! Best hotel we stayed in during our 14 day Costa Rica trip. Can‘t recommend enough!
Amazing place!! Our favourite in Costa Rica so far!! Its right on the beach!!
+ Beautiful not crowded beach with calm water (great for kids)
+ Tasty (5 options) breakfast
+ Monkeys on top of trees
+ Friendly helpful stuff
Nice pool, very nice hotel, delicious breakfast and dinner is also more than good. To get to Samara beach etc. you need a car but that is it worth to stay here.
we stayed in more than 8 high-class hotels/Airbnbs during our Costa Rica trip, yet good life lodge had the cleanest and most modern rooms of all of them
