Nice and helpful staff.
English-spanish required a bit using translator, but without problems.
Roof top pool/jacuzzi was nice.
Rooms had a bit variation between the views and interior properties, but the available rooms were shown to us first and we were able to choose which we wanted and we paid after that.

For myself, I am not always happy on a beach vacation because I need plenty to keep me busy. A day or two less would've been fine, but that was not the fault of the resort.
Puerto Plata was OK. Not that much to see there. We did take the cable car up to the top of Isabel de Torres, and that was very pleasant. We also took a driver out to Carbarete Beach and el choco Park, which we enjoyed. I would not bother with Damajagua. There were perhaps 1000 people there when we went, and it was quite a zoo. For Various reasons, I ended up not going all the way up to the Falls, and I was perfectly happy not to have gone. My husband didn't care for it at all. The ride was all right, but the whole experience was not worth the effort. Too many people. Waiting in line in the wilderness is not our idea of a good time.

The town is great, the people are nice, but the hotels are in serious need of restoration and updating. I cant get over the fact that almost all the hotels on the coast there do not have proper hurricane protection, whether its shutters or hurricane resistant windows. Any direct hit by a hurricane will spell disaster for most hotels on the coast. Serious upgrading is needed on nearly every hotel.

I love Puerto Plata, the people are friendly.
I love Puerto Plata, the people are friendly. Smile and they will always respond in kind.
Be careful to not wear expensive jewelery on display as petty crime exists in less tourist areas, and cover your all inclusive band while out as you will be seen as a rich american and pestered.

I love the people of San Felipe de Puerto Plata and I love the beaches.
It is a safe place and beauty everywhere with lots to do. I love the downtown area with its many attractions like umbrella street, Paseo de Dona Blanca or pink place, Parque Central and also the many restaurants in the area. One of my favorites is El Patio de Frida. A nice casual Mexican restaurant near the downtown area and also Casa 40 is another one near by.

I enjoyed the beach, pool and serenity.
I enjoyed the beach, pool and serenity. I felt secure with the gated entry and security guard on duty. A list of shopping and dining locations screened by the owner would have been useful, but we vetured and survived. People were friendly and not too aggressive.

Facility was ok. Service was horrendous.
Facility was ok. Service was horrendous. They advertise 3 restaurant however only 1 available per day which required reservations but not available. Food was not very good and very limited options. Bar service - only draft beer and not very good. Bottle beer was additional, even President which should have been inclusive. No mini bar service! Would definitely not be back!!

The location was downtown as I desired however the hotel has a courtyard in the middle of the hotel adjacent to a street where motorcycles speed down constantly. The courtyard doubles as a parking lot and every vehicle and motorcycle driving in or out creates lots of noise that bounces between all the enclosed walls. The staff were friendly however several of them seem not to concerned about the quiet aspect of a guests comfort and many yell across the balconies which is horrible for sleeping.
I couldn't go due to flight cancellations because of bad weather. My dad and my daughter were able to go. My daughter said that the food was good, but that the facilities needs more maintenance. She said the beach is nice and free of the nasty Sargazo algae. She said waters were calm and free of the Sargazo. Overall, both grandfather and granddaughter enjoyed the sights of Puerto Plata. The hotel is 15 minutes by car to the interesting sights in the old part of town.
The hotel has a lot of potential but could be better. The only part of the staff that was friendly were the guys from the animation team, the others were not nice at all. The animators, despite not having many resources, managed to get us to participate in the activities and make us have fun. The rest of the staff were didn't care that something was wrong, they were indifferent to complaints, they didn't go the extra mile, they just didn't care.
Everything was great, the hosts are really great! When you arrive, just ask at the pharmacy, the owners work there, so it's easy... both are very happy to help. Hector speaks very good English and responded directly to any question on WhatsApp, including what to do in town. Maria speaks Spanish, she is very, very cordial and because of me she spoke very slowly so that I could understand everything with my poor Spanish
The owners were amazing! They upgraded our room for free, gave good information about everything we needed to know about the hotel and the city and they helped us order our dinner to the hotel and also book a daytrip to the 27 waterfalls in Puerto Plata. The hotel was super clean (our room was cleaned everyday), the breakfast was nice and the pool area was good. This is a very small hotel, but we loved it!
The wonderful place (a Real Dominican Republic Discovery) of great hospitality and a prompt response. Diana is a very attentative host. (I bet, if you have any issues – just let her know and in 2 hours everything will be solved). She has put a lot of effort into building this Dominican gem. Highly recommend to move with a big company/your friends and book the entire hotel. Wish we could stay longer..
Danielle, the owner has been very helpful and courteous. My room is comfortable, good bed, small refrigerator, air conditioner, and private bath and toilet. The hostel, Casa Azul, is near grocery stores, bank, and church. The folks in the barrio have been friendly with me. Puerto Plata is a great tourist mecca and I highly recommend the city if you want to learn more about the Dominican Republic.
friendly staff and convenient location make it a top choice for travelers. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, providing a relaxing atmosphere. Guests praise the hotel's attention to detail and great service. Overall, Ria Aparta Hotel provides a wonderful experience
It was peaceful, quiet, beautiful nestled in the hills, so much more authentic than the all inclusive resorts. The kids loved the animals and pool. The seat swings, hammocks were complete perfection. Johan , the host, is very kind and responsive.
The hotel is small but cute, the pools were beautirful, the room was enough and comfy, food was okey, and the beach snacks restaurant was very good. The staff polite. The night club was okey too. Weren't strick with the checkout hour.
I request the first floor I have the first floor food wasn’t good my son was sick he needs extra toilets paper after 2 hours they shout up with the toilet paper I will review this information at the hotel app
Very well located and spacious room in a private house with amazingly helpful and welcoming owner. Access to the kitchen and common area with terrace. Walking distance to the old town and bus station.
