Not great in Santo Domingo: All the Museums in Zona Colonial were closed due to renovations. ( At the same time!)

Loved the feel of the Zona Colonial where we stayed.
Loved the feel of the Zona Colonial where we stayed. Beautiful architecture and historical buildings. Interesting history. Guides on every street corner who with lots of pride and patriotism show you around. Visited Lago Los Tres Ojos really worthwhile. Lots of security. We felt very safe.

El Conde is a nice street to walk on in the day or early evening, just stay as far to the East side as possible. The beaches in Santo Domingo are filled with water garbage, go to Boca Chica if you'd like to actually get wet, but you better pack a lunch because everyone will try to rip you off for literally everything. China Town is nice, try to go during lunch hours on the weekend where they have amazing street food.

The owner/Host was very accommodating with a detailed tour of the entire house on every level. During the tour the host detailed the proper use of the pool functions and I was super happy that my girlfriend was allowed entry prior to my arrival to prep for me. I would definitely recommend this property for a stay.

We enjoyed our 3 full day vacation.
We enjoyed our 3 full day vacation. Great food, nice balance of things to do (historical, nightlife, shopping, recreation). We had an excursion to rappel down several waterfalls. Then we spent 2 days enjoying several different restaurants, walking along the Malecón, visiting the caves of Tres Ojos, and enjoying the weather. We are already looking forward to our next visit! We would recommend the following restaurants: Affogato Cafe, Raymond Mariscos, WTF “What’s That Food”, M7, and Jalao. Honestly all our meals were 10/10. Service was good also and we only know a little Spanish. We enjoyed that there was more than enough to do within walking distance of our hotel in Zona Colonia.

Santo Domingo is an incredible city.
Santo Domingo is an incredible city. You feel the history there and of course it's the people who make the city so vibrant. I was a solo traveller and never ever felt unsafe : everybody was very welcoming to me and I appreciate it a lot. When I arrived, I took the metro: it was clean and easy to understand. There are no electronic machines to buy tickets: you had to buy a ticket at the glass box with a metro worker sitting there.
Zona Colonial is the place to see: very old historic buildings, local cafes are very charming. And of course the University!
I went clubbing at night and OMG, it was so cool. Dominicans know how to do la fiesta.
Everybody told me to be careful when filming with your cellphone outside in the city and watch your bags. I never had any issue with this. I was filming all freely and never felp unsafe. May be I was lucky, I don't know.
I spent only two days there but I will be back for more. And again, it's the people!!! Dominican people!! Free-spirited, music-loving people!!
When I first saw the rating of the place I was curious as it's so high. Yet after staying I understand why. The staff is phenomenally kind and helpful. They are really great people. Furthermore, the breakfast they served was heavenly. The best hotel breakfast I've had ever!!
The location is excellent + fairly safe for Santo Domingo so you can easily roam the Colonial Zone. of the city with plenty of restaurants, things to see/visit and a grocery store nearby.
The owners were super helpful and friendly, they went beyond any expectation to make sure our stay was as smooth and good as possible. The accommodation was very clean, spacious and had all facilities we could ask for and is located in the ideal location. We got great recommendations for restaurants and places to visit, and they even helped us plan our trip around Dominican Republic. We recommend anyone to stay here!
I must say this is a great Hotel to stay at , the staff is great.
From the reception with Mercedes to the restaurant, they are all nice people.
At Brickell we felt at home , all was just as in the photos.
Clean and equipped 👌🏾.
Meet chef Jamilca for tasty breakfast 😋, and waiter Roberto for great drinks at dinner 🍽.
We will surely be back at Brickell Apart Hotel in Santo Domingo.
Much love ❤️
This is located at one of the most beautiful and tranquil streets of Santo Domingo, the apartment is both comfortable and culturally typical! The service was impeccable, from the treatment of the host to the free and delicious breakfast at the hotel. They also had a beautiful terrace that looked to the sea. For the price, this was one of my most well rounded stays in the DR. Will return again 100%
Location in colonial zone Santo Domingo, walk to restaurants and stores. Friendly staff accomodating with language fluency, called taxis for me. Even at midnight to pick up my sister at the airport. Tasty breakfast with eggs and fresh tropical fruit. Helped with luggage. Room sufficient, cozy touches. Loved the oldness of this place. Nice sitting area at top of stairs, courtroom open air.
Nice hotel in a charming old colonial house within the historic district of Santo Domingo. Fantastic location! Room was basic, but good value for money. The Haitian staff spoke excellent French in addition to Spanish, were helpful and friendly, and helped arrange onward transport. Simple but tasty breakfasts of cheese+ham omelets.
This hotel boutiquel is wonderful well located at the centra city of Santo Domingo. At waking distanc to a lot restaurants and places to go arround. the room was comfy and very clean, breakfast was stunning with a traditional Dominican gastronomy foods, very nice. I will coming back. The front desk was very friendly.
Blue Malecon is a lovely hotel at the heart of Santo Domingo. I reallly loved the service - Enea at the reception was just the most helpful and nice person! The room is small but sweet, it has everything you need (including Netflix!). What also surprised me was HOW good the breakfast was. Yum-yum:)
Facilities in the hotel were great - the pool area was clean , good for kids and there was a bar beside it . It’s a great hotel for a short stay in Santo Domingo or business trip unfortunately the city of Santo Domingo needs a lot of investment and development to make it feel safe for tourists.
The room is very comfortable, even for stays of several days. The breakfast is the best of this hotel since it is very varied, and the location of the restaurant makes it ideal to start the day. It is a clean, tidy place, very well located, making it a very good option to stay in Santo Domingo.
The location is good, it is close to everything, there is the Colonial Zone, Parque Independencia, taxis on the street below the hotel, it has a great pool, it is very clean, close to all the nice things that there are in Santo Domingo, and the people who work there are super excellent. .
The Beaterio Casa Museo is a charming, historic, place to stay. The staff were incredibly helpful and location is wonderful for walking around the Colonial Zone. Breakfast was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this location for anyone visiting Santo Domingo!
Catalonia hotel in Santo Domingo is an excellent hotel, clean room with an ocean view, their room service was exceptional, great breakfast with diverse choice.
Catalonia hotel in Santo Domingo is really a 5 star .
I will definitely stay Definitely stay at Catalonia hotel again.
Good breakfast , nice clean well appointed room . I especially envoyés the bathtub inside the room and the color palette was elegant . The service was on point and the facilities were good . I’ll definitely book this hotel the next time I’m in Santo Domingo.
The employees are very, very friendly and helpful. Whatever you need, you get it. They also speak good English, so it's quite easy to make yourself understood. The hotel has a familiär atmosphäre. I would stay there again, if I come to Santo Domingo.
This is probably the best hotel along the Malecon (waterfront) in Santo Domingo. It's within walking distance of all of Gascue. However, it is a bit of a hike from the Colonial Zone. Clean, modern, and well run.
I stayed many times at this hotel when I come to Santo Domingo, and I'm always happy with what I get. Big rooms, nice staff, perfectly located, and one the cheapest price in la Zona for this kind of hotels.
The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Especially Juan (frontdesk) made our stay extra special. Rooms are clean and spacious. Nice hotel on a convinient location in the Colonial Zone
Good location, good wifi, AC even in winter (most hotels in Dominican Republic turn off the AC for the winter months even though it's still hot and humid.
