Some friendly staff Other than that the place was a nightmare l had to cut short after two days there. The free breakfast is a sham. My mistake was to pay before inspecting the room.

Take a guided tour through the colonial attractions, you will enjoy the history of the place much more. The fortress did have a nice interactive tour, also the Museo de las Casas Reales had a lot of information posted.
The food and shops in the Zona Colonial were more expensive than we really expected. But the Tourism Police have a constant presence and the whole area felt very safe. The staff at the hotel warned us about straying from the area though, so it is important to know where you are and what you plan on doing.
The Duarte wax museum was a pleasant surprise, and you should get to know the history of the Dominican Republic as it is fascinating. Even though they received independence from Spain in 1821, it wasn't really until 1965 that a truly independent democracy was established.

walking through ciudad colonial is a must..choosing where to eat is really hard..food quality is very low..i have tried a lot of different restaurants but was never 100% happy with the food...i wish the Indian restaurant had been open as i am sure it would have been delicious..the weather is too hot and humid to walk very far so it is a matter of continuously taking uber taxis.even so, i can never do all the things i want and its the 4th time i go there

it isn't the first time I visit but it is the first time i have used uber and it is a game changer..i mean in a hot humid chaotic city, even a person who loves walking like myself has to give it up...the only places you can easily walk around in , are shopping malls (the best is Agora mall) and the ciudad colonial. i have been told it is not safe at night but tbh i havent had any problem but cant guarantee it could be safe for everyone..
everyone is at Malecon , sea promenade, after 6pm, jogging, relaxing and eating..mind you, the water is extremely contaminated and smelly..nevertheless this city has got something special which makes u like it...and most people are friendly.. i dined at Layali arabic restaurant it was amazing with beautiful decor..and tasty food..$$..also dined on the top floor of agora mall..plenty of food stalls..i had chicken teryaki with rice $..if you avoid all tourist traps and buy your presents in the not so known shops and eat in the not so touristy spots, you will save a lot..pls some street vendors are extremely poor and even if you dont wana buy anything, a small change will make them happy..i always keep 100 pesos notes in my purse..around a dollar. dont forget to visit boca chica, a natural swimming pool where the water is crystal clear..weekdays best..weekend too crowded..only approx 20 min by bus

Great place to visit if you want to dance salsa or bachata.
Great place to visit if you want to dance salsa or bachata. You can attend a good dance lessons there. The city center (Colonial Zone) is pretty small and mildly interesting, you can see the most interesting places in few hours. Use uber/bolt to travel through the city.

Best of Santo Domingo: The Gastronomy.
Best of Santo Domingo: The Gastronomy. So many amazing restaurants like Buche Perico, and Loretta Cafe Bistro.
Not great in Santo Domingo: All the Museums in Zona Colonial were closed due to renovations. ( At the same time!)
Had been staying in this Apart Hotel before, since it was quite OK in relation to Price - Offer. The offer has not changed at all, same facility, same layout, same restaurant….. but the price have now increased to a level which cannot any longer be justified. Unfortunately, an issue in most hotels all over town. Still the US$ 110 for per night or US$ 6,20 for a beer, in Santo Domingo is too much!
Current travelers should not be responsible to cover losses from the past!
This place suited our needs very well. We were staying for 2 days and nights in Santo Domingo before heading to the beaches. We wanted something in the historic Colonial Zone and this location was perfect and the cost was reasonable. The rooms are nice and clean. The bathrooms are a bit basic, but serviceable. The fellow at the desk at check in was lovely and helpful. It felt very safe and was a great place for us to stay. Breakfast was included, and was fine.
What a wonderful hotel! And staff! Gorgeous large room, perfect placement in Zona Colonial, all was close and safe. I was a solo traveller and hotel's staff was very helpful to give me tips about the city. I loved the fact that you didnt need a key or card to enter your room, just your code that you set up for yourself. Coffee and tea and breakfast was perfect.
I am definitely staying here again and see you very soon.
Such a cute Hotel! My room was kinda small, but really cozy! Like a cuddly cave.
The room was excellent equipped, even with a microwave.
They have Netflix, Amazon Prime and other programs on the TV.
AC in the room worked excellent.
Breakfast was small but good. They have a cozy rooftop terrace with a Whirlpool.
For a couple of days to experience Santo Domingo really recommended.
Will definitely stay again.
Roger at the reception is the most kind and helpful person we found in any hotel in DR. Was a fantastic host and takes care of everything you need.
Hotel is situated in the Colonial zone.
Has a 24/7 bar. Very good breakfast.
Street parking available in front of the hotel (it's tight n narrow street though).
Great place to stay n explore Santo Domingo.
This place is excellent and a good value for your money. I came to Santo Domingo for work and eventually remained in this hotel for 1 month. I had also an upgrade of the room for free, thanks to booking.com so it was just perfect. The guy at the reception is the most polite and kind person of the world. The free breakfast is pretty various and good
Beautiful room that overlooked a stunning garden. Plus it had strong air-conditioning, which made it feel like a personal oasis in the middle of a hot and humid city. The property is in a great location, and was super close to all the main sites in the colonial zone. I would highly recommend staying here if you are in Santo Domingo.
Catalonia hotel in Santo Domingo is an excellent hotel, clean room with an ocean view, their room service was exceptional, great breakfast with diverse choice.
Catalonia hotel in Santo Domingo is really a 5 star .
I will definitely stay Definitely stay at Catalonia hotel again.
Great little hotel in the centre of Santo Domingo. Very clean, the breakfast was basic, but decent. Its central location is unbeatable. Only the size of the room is a bit claustrophobic, but it is good for a night. No windows as way, but the building is beautifil.
Good breakfast , nice clean well appointed room . I especially envoyés the bathtub inside the room and the color palette was elegant . The service was on point and the facilities were good . I’ll definitely book this hotel the next time I’m in Santo Domingo.
The hotel is well located, very close to the malecon and within walking distance of the old town. I was in Santo Domingo to renew my Residency and it is a short drive direct along the malecon to the Immigration office. It is very good value for money.
I always come here when I go to Santo Domingo. I love how quiet it is, yet in the middle of the zona colonial. The mango tree and inside courtyard is beautiful, breakfast very good, and staff very kind. Beds are good and clean.
Beautiful palace-like old building well kept in good shape, but not optimal for modern hotel facilities. Quality service from staff. Very good central location in Zona Colonial. Swimming pool right next to the lobby.
We stayed one night while travelling through Santo Domingo. The hotel met our expectations - quite basic rooms but the beds were big and the hotel felt very secure.
The breakfast courtyard was a nice surprise!
I love this hotel always did, and is my first choice at Santo Domingo, specially because of the view and the beds, but this last 2 times I became disappointed with other issues.
well located in zona colonial, with friendly and diligent staff, good maintenance and a great dominican style buffet. Overall, great start point for your trip in santo domingo.
Beautiful place with a lot of character! Perfect location to explore the Zona Colonial. Great breakfast.
Definitely recommend for a stay in Santo Domingo!
Good location, good wifi, AC even in winter (most hotels in Dominican Republic turn off the AC for the winter months even though it's still hot and humid.
