So much of what I know about ancient Egypt, the pharaohs & history is found in this awesome place. Too much to see in 3 days.
We had a private guide which helped loads including adjusting our sightseeing plans to include things we knew nothing about. Valley of nobles & workers are both worth adding in, not just the kings. The hot air balloon ride was well worth the extra as was the evening light & sound show.
Travel was easy in a private car.
We mostly ate at the hotel because the food was so good.

Luxor is an amazing location, feels almost like an Italian city, with the antiquities in the heat of the city, the wide river and river boats.
We met really nice people, but unfortunately met a few scammers too.
Shopping can be a bit of a hassle, with people pulling you in. I gave up and shopped in Cairo instead.

A beautiful city, my second trip following a trip last November to valley of the kings. I wanted to come back just to see the city and it didn’t disappoint. I just wish I had had more time than 2days, 1 night… I will be back to lovely Luxor. A surprise around every corner…

The hot air balloon was really the highlight of our tour in Luxor. No one should miss it along with the visits to the Valley of the Kings, Queens and Hatshetsup Palace. Downtown Luxor was also a must-see specially the old market place and the Luxor Temple and don't forget about the local food.

Luxor's archaeological sites are the most impressive I've ever seen. They are spectacular.
I went in April, in spring, and the temperature reached 38 degrees Celcius. The locals told me that in summer the temperature will be around 50 degrees.
The population appears to be very poor and the city is poorly maintained.

So much !
So much ! Magic Carpet Tours were excellent, organising a wonderful balloon ride, a dreamy sunset felucca trip to Banana Island, an amazing driver called Hassim who took me to the Valley of the KIngs, Hatshepsut's Temple, Karnak, Memnon Colossi, Temple of Luxor, and didn't hurry me at all. He drove me to Aswan the next day via Edfu and Kom Ombo. Luxor is fabulous, busy, lots of street sellers trying to get you buy or ride in their horse carriage, but a polite 'La Shukran' (no thank you) was fine and they are just making a living like the rest of us! Nefertiti Hotel was a peaceful sanctuary, and I would not have missed Luxor for the world. Personal highlights: Karnak Temples and Seti's tomb at the Valley of the Kings - awe-inspiring.
We absolutely loved this hotel, more so than any other place we stayed in Egypt. Not only was the hotel extremely beautiful, but we were upgraded to a larger room for no additional cost and the hotel employees were extremely kind and understanding with early and late checkouts (they even made us a to-go breakfast!). Although the hotel is in a rural area of West Luxor, we had fun getting around in rickshaws or truck-beds and enjoyed soaking up the sun at the hotel’s lovely pool and gardens. Would definitely come back!
Everything was good. The place was very nice clean and spacious. It's about 15 minutes outside the city, but the compound is situated right beside a nice market ( AL Rayah Market) and it has everything you would need to fix up a quick meal if need be.
Our host was able to set us up on a hot air balloon ride and it was one of the most amazing experiences for our family here in Egypt. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
We would encourage anyone to book the Sphinx Apartment for a nice little get away while in Luxor.
The hotel host Hassen is so nice! He helped us solve all the problems in Luxor, he helped us arrange hot air balloon trips, and helped us arrange chartered cars. He can also help us exchange Egyptian pounds, take us to the souvenir shop, and help us bargain. When we left, they took us to eat local traditional food, and then sent us to the platform of the train station. All this moved us very much. If you travel to Luxor on your own, this hotel is definitely the first choice.
If you get the chance to stay at this place in Luxor, do so! We stayed there for 4 nights and had our best stay in whole Egypt. Mohammed and Kaream are so friendly and welcoming and help you with everything you need. Also, we used the pool everyday, as it was so refreshing after sightseeing. Food is amazing. We booked the ballon tour with the hotel and everything went as planned. As it is one of the budget-friendly places in Luxor, value for money is unbeatable.
We had an amazing stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful with anything we needed, plus they were very accommodating to our needs and wants.
The room is clean and comfortable with good AC and fan. There is also a swimming pool which makes the heat a bit more bearable.
Included in the price was a wonderful breakfast, by far the best we’ve had at any Egyptian hotel.
All in all we had a great stay and would recommend Luxor Pyramids Hotel.
I picked the hotel for its convenient location. I enjoyed it so much because of the owner and staff. Food was excellent and generous. Also the room and outside sitting areas were so peaceful. Room was traditional Egyptian. It is a small hotel but central to everything. I could see the colossus of memnon from my room.
I stayed at five hotels on this trip. This was the lowest price. This was my favorite. I was very happy here.
After traveling in Egypt for several weeks, it was nice to have a little oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the cities. And after a day of sightseeing, relaxing by the pool was a welcome relief. We ordered food from the pool restaurant several times and we felt it was priced reasonably for the hotel. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were spotless. Breakfast was also outstanding with a lot of variety.
The hotel is beautiful! Finding it was very tricky for our taxi driver. I would recommend you have the hotel arrange transportation for you in advance . At first I was disappointed that it was on the West Bank and not in the downtown area but even as a New Yorker the hustle and bustle of Egyptian cities proved a bit much for me and very quickly I was glad to have more breathing room and a larger quieter property
Location was great, every important place was near. The apartment is small but since Luxor is a city for exploring ancient history, you won't spend much time inside anyway. The hosts, Austin and Abeer are some of the nicest people we've met in Egypt so far and were very relaxed and helpful. The best part is the roof which is spacious, has a bar, a pool table and more. Definitely would recommend.
The Steigenberger Nile Palace Luxor is a great choice for a visit to Luxor. Aside from the facilities and view on offer, the staff (in particular Mostafa, one of the hotel managers) is very attentive to guests from the point of arrival until departure, in contrast to other Egyptian hotels. The location is also good nestled on the Nile's banks and in Luxor's centre.
I liked pretty much everything about the hotel.
The location on the West Bank of the Nile is quiet and offers a look at ordinary Egyptian life.
The owner Foud is a great guy and was very helpful. The staff are really nice as well.
If you are traveling in summer the rooftop pool really comes in handy. The price is really good and the hotel has a lot of character.
The hotel was very nice for our price; it had a nice pool, nice rooms, and a great location.
It was within walking distance of the Luxor temple; they had a little shopping center with an ATM where we could exchange dollars for Egyptian pounds. The restaurant served Egyptian food, and you have to try the dessert "Kunafa." It was AMAZING! most of you stay here.
This hotel is located literally in Egyptian countryside, we passed some farms and villages on the way here and we loved the feel of the countryside. Hotel itself was spacious with very friendly customer service and room was huge and very quiet, food was amazing as well. And don’t forget to say hi to Lady Kera the dog
Family run hotel, staff is so friendly and helpful. They booked us a great driver to see some extra temples! Rooms were clean, nothing fancy (but as expected in Egypt). Perfect location from the ferries on the West Bank. Lovely rooftop restaurant/seating area. We had the breakfast and was just what we needed
Our stay in the Old Nile Hotel was really great. It's a nice and quiet place and Mostafa the owner is the most welcoming host. He can give you great advice on Luxor and surroundings or even book excursions for you if you want.
Also we had the most delicious egyptian food in all our trip !
- location is super great!!! in front of Luxor Temple and around a local market
- breakfast was super great with the buffet
- restaurant is yet the best restaurant that we have had during our trip across the whole Egypt
- staff was super helpful and friendly - and I mean this :)
The best experience with hotel so far in my trip to Egypt, because of the price I expected less but everything is very clean and with all the accomodations. Omar and Hamza have been very helpful in everything, I felt like home.
Egyptian, central, clean, great staff and the views and food from top floor restaurant were very nice. One stop shop for us as also booked our Luxor and Cairo tours at the hotel and enjoyed them all.
Very peaceful hotel just outside Luxor city center, just next to Nilo river. Huge and tasty breakfast everyday, nice pool areas, nice staff. Wifi was great for egyptian standards. Super comfy rooms!
All was perfect! Our best experience in Egypt!
Even in the last day, we did the check-out to do a tour in Luxor, and when we returned the hotel let us enjoy the Swimming pool.
