I loved everything about Kato Dool. I am so happy I decided to book with them. From the moment of arrival, I felt at home. The staff were wonderful, and so welcoming. The common area was gorgeous, looking over the Nile. My room was massive, and the towel crocodile was the cutest thing ever. (Picture below!) The room were very clean, and the balcony was just the icing on the cake. It has the perfect view of sunrise - which is worth getting up for. The food at their restaurant is delicious and one of, if not the best dinner of my trip. They even went above and beyond last minute helping arrange a driver to take us to the old monastery and temple of philae for myself and another solo traveller I had met. Then they also arranged a boat taxi for two other female travellers to make sure they made it back to their hostel safely - and they were not even staying at Kato Dool! The morning of my departure, the driver was 40 minutes late, and they were making calls and when the driver for the tour turned up in an unmarked car, they made sure he was 100% legit before I got into their vehicle. As a solo traveller, that meant so much to me. You can feel the love and pride they put into their hotel. My only regret is that I couldn't spend more time there. If I am ever back in Aswan, I will definitely be back. Thank you so much for everything. ❤️

NeNeKaTo Nubian House, Kendaka Nubian House, and Sofitel Legend Old Cataract got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Aswan.
We booked a 4 day, 4 night cruise with JourneyToEgypt that included both Aswan and Luxor. The communication, coverage of Aswan sights, guide and tour were outstanding. We highly recommend them. We ate on the cruise ship which was excellent. Based on our personal experience, next time in Aswan we would avoid the Mango Guest House. The service quality did not come close to what we read in Booking.com.
The city it's a typical African city.. and that explains everything. The only thing you have to do is to stay one night, go to Abu sibel and leave. The bad thing that personally makes me mad,is that you can't even walk for 2 minutes without someone try to sell you a taxi/horse/boat ride,or just ask you to give him money . And if you make the mistake to walk through the pazar.. You have to be calm.. (I am not) everyone without any exception will try to sell you anything!!! From souvenirs (ok logical) Mo Salah t-shirts (good player but give me a break) to vegetables, spices, carpets, alive chickens or bunnies and probably a fridge or an oven (yes you read well) A guy was my tail for 300 meters trying to convince me to get a haircut or shave in his barber shop..!! Even if Egypt is very beautiful I don't recommend it to anyone. And maybe I am not the biggest traveller, but I have seen enough in 3 continents and 45 countries so far.
If you want a laidback serene atmosphere with kind owners this is the place. They will take you to the east bank and pick you up anytime you want free of charge. I preferred taking the public ferry a short ten minute walk away for 5 EGP for the experience of mingling and meeting the locals. Maghrabi’s is located across the River from the city of Aswan in the Nubian village of Gharb (west) Aswan. I would go to the east bank to get my city fix and come “home” to Magrabi’s.
I don't have anything negative to say...just that 3 days is about right to see most all you will want to see. We found our 4th day..while pleasant was 1 day more than needed. Owner and staff were great though...very helpful throughout stay.
A beautiful city! People are very warm and friendly, and the surrounding Nile scenery is tranquil and peaceful. The Nubian village is vibrant and colorful and definitely worth a visit! Highly recommended.
Day tour to Abu Simbel was memorable The hotel is central, especially easy to catch local ferries to the Elephantine Island. I would probably stay at a different hotel on the Elephantine Island. Highly recommended King Jamaica restaurant & cafe on the Elephantine Island.
