Ruins of Luxor (Karnak and Luxor temples, Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut) were great. REALLY ANNOYING TOUTS on both sides of the river (boats, taxis, selling souvenirs). Far more than anywhere else in Egypt and REALLY HARRASSING!
I traveled solo as a woman, and found there's a lot of harrassment on the streets, cat calls, asking for donations, men coming up to you assist you unnecessarily, etc. The temple tours were worth it, and a few restaurants were ok.
Very friendly and helpful staff, very secure, and affordable to anyone. Nice views to the Nile river from our room. I will definitely stay here again. Been a nonsmoker, I hope there will be smoking designated areas outside the hotel.
The monuments without any doubt .. the best place to see old Egypt .. Beautiful scenery for the Nile .. very good hotels .. taking a boat trip is nice .. cruise trips are gorgeous .. Luxor is a very small city .. beware of taking the ‘karetta’ as a daily ride, take the taxi instead, cleaner and cheaper. ‘Karetta’ is nice to try for once, but that’s it. Always negotiate prices as sellers exaggerate in prices to make better profits. Eat in hotels .. dont try local restaurants if you are a tourist. City center is not clean because of horses waste 😔 We went to Om Hashem famous restaurant. The old one does not look appealing.. the new one is fine but the food was lousy 😏 wonder how they got famous .. nothing fun for children in young ages .. but 10 years and older will enjoy the stories of old Egyptian Gods and Godesses.
Luxor has, in my opinion, the 2 best preserved temples in Egypt: 1. Luxor temple (walking distance from anywhere) 2. Karnak temple. It’s amazing to walk along the Nile and enjoy views from there! Tip: don’t pay a taxi from Karnak temple to the city center. Take a white van with a blue stripe which will take you downtown. Also: buy a simcard in Egypt to not depend on poor wifis. Simcards work great and are extremely cheap ($10 for 20GBs).
I’ve been to Luxor many Times and I love visiting the temples and ruins. If you are looking for food other than Egyptian and middle eastern I recommend the Italian place called Roma It. Is cheap and the pizza and pasta are really good! Stay away from the buffets, they are tourist traps. I highly recommend going to Luxor temple at sunset. The sun light is perfect for photos and once the sun is down they turn on the lights and it makes the visit more magical

The owner and his staff were extreeeemely helpful and welcoming. The location is great, very close to the luxor temple, the ferry boat port to cross to the east side and a souvenirs market (El Souk) They also offered good tours and transportation services at good prices. Breakfast was veeery good and complete. Although of course some things need to be improved when it comes to facilities ( same as in every hostel in Egypt) they are very lovely people, and they will make your stay a good one. I truly recommend it.

I don’t write reviews very often but this place was exceptional. Ahmed and his family take lots of care of their guests as if they are family members. Ahmed is an Egyptologist so is brilliant as a guide- he speaks excellent English and German. The food is top notch and the location gives a glimpse into daily life along the Nile. The guest house can set up river crossings and other trips around the area. Right opposite the winter palace and Luxor temple. Incredible value for money. Don’t hesitate to do it.

We had a lovely stay in Villa Kaslan! Yvonne and Abdelrahim are great host, they and all the people that work with them really make us feel at home. Food is delicious and portions are huge! Our hosts helped us with all the inquiries and questions, we were especially grateful for Yvonne’s recommendation of the GoBus company, probably the most useful hint for our travels through Egypt. Highly recommend staying in Villa Kaslan, West bank is much much better choice then the East bank!

the time I booked I got a discount price of 27 dollars per night( including the tax) so it’s more reasonable. the stuff are very attentive and helpful. the outside environment is very dusty but inside the hotel it’s clean and quiet, with a lovely garden. the food is good. the room is spacious , although very simple , but can meet all basic needs . the hot water is very strong which is uncommon is egypt, and they clean up the room every day.

One of my favourite hostels I stayed in while travelling around Egypt. Great friendly staff, very helpful with all the directions and bookings for places I wanted to see in Luxor. The hostel itself has just been renovated and was super nice with great bunk with lights and the place was not far from the station. could be 5 min. so great to get about.

Very tasteful surrounding and room. Our guidebook mentioned that al Moudira is the ‚most stylish hotel in egypt‘ and the book was right. We have been treated very friendly and correct, which unfortunately is not usual in Egyptian hotels. We can recommend this hotel hope to come back one day.

The place is a bit old and need renovation as all hotels in Egypt. Dinner was really delicious and breakfast was good - there was no fruit option on the buffet, we complained and they gave us some melon. The pool is good and the Nile River view is beautiful!

This was a great hotel a while back, sad to see the tourism industry in Egypt is doing so badly that not many people were enjoying the property - which was showing signs of disrepair and being a bit dated I’m sure due to low occupancy

Charming authentic hotel in a quaint village located next to one of the most impressive temples in the west bank. The jovial cook, Abdul, served us the best Egyptian home cooking we had during our trip. Highly recommended.

Facilities are lovely. The grounds are peaceful and relaxing. Dining choices are tasty and varied. The resort has a gym! Views and pools are the best we experienced in Egypt. As a runner I valued feeling safe enough to run on the resort grounds, in fact many other guests ran throughout the day. Great 1.8mi loop. Staff is very friendly too, never pushy. Or was a wonderful retreat in the middle of our grand tour of Egypt. I look forward to returning.
