Set in the heart of Cauterets, just few steps from the ski lifts of the Lys, the Bois Joli hotel is in an authentic setting.

This hotel is right at the heart of Cauterets, and surrounded by bars, restaurants, supermarkets etc. There is no parking actually at the hotel, but we found it easy to park in the large municipal car park a 4/5 minute walk away. Staff were friendly and helpful, the room was larger than I expected, with a pleasant ensuite bath and shower. It was quiet. The bed was large and comfortable.. Our rate did not include breakfast, and we found a couple of places super close by where we could enjoy coffee and pastries cheaply.
Hotel du Lion dOr is was built in the 19th century and is one of the oldest hotels in Cauterets. This family-run hotel offers you a warm and friendly welcome.

The owners of Hotel du Lion d'Or were fantastic! Very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Our room was very nice, spacious, clean. We slept great in the nice comfy bed and enjoyed having the refrigerator and coffee maker in the room! Breakfast was amazing with delicious pastries, fresh meats and cheeses, fresh squeezed juice and homemade jams! They also serve dinner in the dinning room which we dined in one night. It was a 4 course meal of soup, salad, entrée(it was duck) and dessert. All were made by the owner and exceeded our expectations. Be sure to make a reservation for the dinner. We were lucky to hit a night that they were not booked, another night we tried but could not as all the tables had already been reserved! Darn! The town is lovely and very convenient for walking to the many shops and restaurants. We drove our car and were able to find parking just around the back side of the hotel. We hiked in the Pyrenees National Park and in a few other areas. The town of Cauterets is a great location for hiking in the area and the Hotel du Lion d"Or is a great place to stay, 4 stars!!

We visited in mid summer as a base for walking in the mountains. It was hot and busy, but not so busy that it felt crowded or unpleasant. The nice thing about Cauterets is that one feels very much in the mountains, and indeed there are pleasant walks to do into the mountains directly from the town. It's an attractive, friendly town, with lots of bars and restaurants, cafes, a supermarket etc. We loved it.

We visited this winter sports resort in the summer.
We visited this winter sports resort in the summer. It was quite quiet, but the place surely comes alive in winter. The hiking trails nearby are amazing, and the town itself was very charming. We were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful old town center.

A nice ski town, not too big but with everything you need in walking distance. My favorite part was Pont d’Espagne. We went snowshoeing and sledding. It had just snowed and it was absolutely magical. But make sure you buy snow tires! At first our car couldn’t make up the hill.

Cauterets is a pretty little town which offers lots of activities for the whole family.
We played mini golf, went to see an ice hockey match, saw a free blues concert. My son went to a bubble dance party and had great fun with the water spray on the main square. We went hiking, the scenery is superb. My son loved the free activities offered by the National Park of the Pyrenees Association.
There are also arcades(2euros for each game).
The town feels very safe as well.
We are planning to go back next year.

A great base for hiking in the Haute Pyrenees, with access to great family hikes and backcountry within a day's hike away. The town has an abundance of great restaurants and family-run shops the suit a variety of budgets. Lots of amenities but still retains a village character.

Great place for a family.
Great place for a family. Skiing was very good for the children and lots of things to do. Some great restaurants and a very quiet place. Have been many times both in summer for walking and winter for skiing.
Really comfortable and cosy chalet. Well equipped and an easy walk to the centre of Cauterets. We arrived the day of the Tour de France in Cauterets and it was not possible to get there before 8pm so we really appreciated that it was possible to collect the keys a bit later. Wifi worked well. Easy to park. Kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. Nice coffee machine too.
And of course Cauterets is beautiful with awesome scenery, fresh air and clean water. The host communicated very well and we are very grateful.
