Fantastic cottage in the heart of Shepton Mallet. Great owners who are really friendly and make everything easy. Cottage is well equipped and everything you need is in place for a relaxing break. Easy parking and great to have separate entrance to get to cottage. Just a shame the weather was a bit too wet to be able to be outside in the terrace area.

Host was excellent offering cake on our arrival. Nothing was too much trouble. Clearly, the host is very experienced in his role. We would definitely stay again.

Robert and Tanya went out of their way to accommodate us, including getting up at 5:30am to prepare an early cooked breakfast, and allowing us to retain our room to get changed prior to our departure. Breakfast was excellent. All rooms were spacious, well decorated and extremely comfortable. The property has history and is full of character.

Tired old hotel with rooms with peeling paint, broken cupboards and windows and dirty curtains. Had to go up 4 flights of stairs to get to attic room that was being used by the construction staff renovating the spa. Food was limited choice and of porr quality for the money that was being asked and charged. No phone in the room so had to climb up and down 4 flights of stairs to get any service. Issues not addressed and had to check out early, extremely poor hospitality. Do not tale bookings if you cannot provide a basic level of service.

Shelton Mallet seems to be a good representation of smaller, rural communities in Southern England. Beautiful surrounding countryside and closeness to some additional cities of interest such as Wells and Glastonbury. Several good restaurants were recommended by the owners of the inn. Roads in the town can be a bit tight.

It is in a good spot for touring around Dorset etc. Very quiet little town with not much to do. There is a Greek restaurant and a cafe that opens during the day. The Swan is one of the nicest pubs.

The Bath and West ground is literally just a mile away. Local facilities for shopping are also close by. If the weather is good there are beautiful walks and things to do. Where this is, you would definitely need a car to make the most of the surrounding area.

We were in the area for a wedding at Pennard House and stayed for 2 nights.
We loved the character of Maplestone, really authentic and beautifully furnished. Our room was spacious with tasteful decor and high quality bedding.
Lovely fresh cake waiting for us on arrival. Alan was a super host and provided an outstanding breakfast.
Easy walking distance to the town - we had a super meal at Blostins restaurant - definitely recommend. Also close to the Mulberry handbag outlet shop.
Would definitely stay again.
Everything.
This was our first time staying at the Old Stables and we’re so pleased we found it.
Alyson & Simon are the perfect hosts - they’re so welcoming, friendly and have great local knowledge which helped us really make the most of the area.
The location, facilities and breakfast are all 10/10.
Easy to get to Wells, Bath, Glastonbury etc. Plenty of space for a very relaxing stay. We only wish we could stay longer!
It was great to meet Jasper the golden retriever too!
A quick break to celebrate my Daughters 21st Birthday. Great rural location, private parking, home from home really as we live on a farm also. Very clean throughout and loved the Christmas tree. Very spacious lodge with open plan layout. Good location for visiting local attractions. Enjoyed some lovely meals out in Shepton Mallet (Rosemary's Greek) and in Cheddar (The Bath Arms Hotel....Sunday lunch). The lodge was great value for the money and we all had a nice time.
I've stayed here before and was very pleased with all aspects so booked again. This time was the same. Excellent in all areas. It's fantastic value for money with clean, well appointed rooms and the best thing about it is the staff. Friendly and accommodating. Laid back but professional at the same time so that you feel very much welcome and looked after. Definitely booking again and have already recommended to family and friends.
We stayed at Apartment 2 (4 adults - 2 double bed rooms, 1 bathroom, kitchen and small dining room). Great location, had no issues parking in the near by car park, which was cheap.
It was really fresh and clean. Had everything we needed for a short stay.
Shower room in this apartment was modern, great shower.
Would definitely return if we visit Shepton Mallet again!
Lovely overnight stay in The Dusthole (Kings Arms Inn) we booked this location as we were going on a ghost hunt at Shepton Mallet Prison which is across the road. Fantastic cooked breakfast. We didn’t eat our evening meal at The Dusthole, however, the meals looked amazing. We would defo book again when in the area. Loved hearing all about the Inns history from Tony.
A really lovely house made all the better by the friendly hosts Robert and Tanya.
Clean, comfortable and the best cooked breakfast ever.
Parking just outside on the street was fine.
Cats were an added bonus.
We drove to the Shepton Flea Market which isn't far away.
Also if you like Babysham go and see the giant bambi in Shepton Mallet!
Would definitely stay again.
A lovely homely cottage to stay in to visit Somerset. The cottage has been really well thought out and we enjoyed both the inside lounge area and outside on the patio. We saw some lovely wildlife including an owl and deer in the garden and the cats were so sweet! We would love to stay at the cottage again.
Breakfast was great.
Chatted with the chef and his partner the night before. They were lovely.
The room was a bit dated, but very clean. I would have liked some plugs and bed side lights next to the bed, but it didn’t spoil our stay.
If I’m back in the area I will definitely come and stay again.
The Location was ok, not as close to Shepton Mallet as though but what it lacked in location it made up for in everything else, comfort, service, food and an excellent breakfast,
despite the location we would stay again
Beautifully decorated house. Very knowledgeable host (lots of information about the area and restaurants). Great breakfast. Good shower. Comfortable bed. Quiet room.
A really well equipped, beautiful house that enable five friends to stay very comfortably whilst taking two glass workshops with April Pebble, Shepton Mallet.
The hotel and Spa was wonderful. Fabulous?roo.m, the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. The spa treatments and facilities were great as was the food.
