The room was fine, breakfast really good, facilities good, great position for travelling to lots of places, just what we needed
Located in the market town of Coleford, the Angel Hotel is a 16th century coaching inn with its own restaurant and bar. Free WiFi is available throughout the property.
Built in 1676 as a hunting lodge for King Charles II, the Speech House Hotel has been refurbished to offer modern facilities and luxurious rooms while retaining its period features.
This charming traditional coaching inn is a Grade II listed building and still retains many of its beautiful original features, such as exposed wooden beams.

We stayed twice on our way to and from visiting family in N Wales. The rooms each time were tastefully decorated with comfortable beds and well-appointed en-suite with shower.
The service was extremely friendly and helpful (carrying luggage to our room). Food in the restaurant was good and my husband liked the beer!
As we had a disabled parking badge we were able to park right outside, which was a bonus.

To me, Symonds Yat and the entire Forest of Dean is still such an under-rated and under-valued area. It is such a beautiful place of natural beauty; if you love birds, trees, being out in nature - this place has it all. You can easily get off the beaten path and avoid the more well-known spots (the sculpture trail gets busy at weekends). It's easy to just lose yourself here and just 'be'. For those who love kayaking & canoeing, there's a ton of outdoor places to get into the water. For camper van owners, this place is a wee slice of heaven and, if you get into the heart of the forest, the relatively low light pollution makes from some spectacular star-gazing on clear nights. Enjoy!

A tranquil location in one of the most beautiful areas of the country. Good food is available at the Saracen's head but make sure you book. The narrow lanes leading to the village can be a bit tricky so take your time. It's probably worth arriving fairly early as it becomes very busy during peak periods.

Very scenic area centred on the River Wye with lots of walking routes, though some were muddy in places. We visited after a wet spell of autumn weather and the small ferry across the river was not running, meaning a long walk to the only river crossing in the area, but great views and good for serious walkers.

This was one of the cheaper hotels in the area so we were surprised at it being so nice, beautiful location , all staff were friendly and helpful, food was great, we will definitely go again. We loved the fact it was dog friendly.
Lovely clean room, serviced every day, The staff went out of their way to make our stay special as it was my wife’s 50th birthday.
Denise and Jackie were amazing, we ate in the restaurant twice and on both occasions the food was excellent.
Breakfast was freshly cooked to order lovely butcher’s bacon and sausages not the cheap stuff you get in some places.
We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely recommend this hotel .
Excellent location for walking around Wye valley. Very impressive views. Very relaxing. Good pubs and hotel restaurants within easy walking distance. Enjoyed hand pulled ferries. Closest ferry is requested by ringing the pub. Suspension bridge down stream. House well equipped for cooking etc. Has smart TV with Netflix access. Ross on Wye and Goodrich castle worth visit.
Love the location, very relaxing to listen to the birds singing and the river Wye flowing by outside our bedroom window. Ideal location for a walk to Symonds Yat or through the forest along the river bank. Claire and John are wonderful hosts, very accommodating and knowledgeable on local geography, nothing is too much trouble. We can’t wait to return.
It was so peaceful and relaxing at Ye Old Ferrie Inn. The binoculars available in my room and the cookies were wonderful touches. Every staff member I spoke with was helpful and pleasant. I felt like everyone was trying to make me feel at home. And the food was amazing!!! I hope I get to stay for multiple nights sometime in the near future.
The location of the stay is brilliant! We been to Symonds Yat multiple times and we are very impressed how close the property is to the river and the pub! It’s perfect for a long weekend holiday with friends and families. The deck out the front is amazing, we BBQ EVERYDAY!
Very spacious accommodation with well equipped kitchen and spotlessly clean with lovely outdoor seating area for dining and sunbathing. Was very conveniently located for Symonds Yat West with views of River Wye and Yat Rock from front window.
Location was amazing. The cottage, its gardens and the view are stunning. The cottage was comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed the river walks, Ross on Wye, Monmouth amd Symonds Yat rock.We ate at the Old Court Hotel every night as so nice.
issue with Booking.com who sold the room we were meant to have due to a "glitch" but the hotel rang -explained and apologised and dealt with the matter very well. we got downgraded, but even so the room was exceptional
The breakfast was excellent - lots of choice and very friendly and helpful staff.
The location is exceptional. Lots of parking. Lovely views of the river. Very good evening meals. Nice walks from the hotel.
Loved the area, beautiful setting. Had lunch and breakfast and food was lovely, plenty options for breakfast. Rooms clean, staff friendly and helpful. We had 2 dogs with us and they loved it too
We love the location of this hotel and have returned several times. The rooms could do with a little updating but the reason we go is for the location. Staff were all lovely and friendly.
The location was fantastic there are plenty of walks to choose from and some lovely dog friendly pubs locally. Will definitely look at returning some time.
Very good value for money. Clean and tidy. Had all the items required of a self catering. Good parking. Good access to towns and cities around the area.
