A pleasant drive on a Friday evening over to Caldicot.

A pleasant drive on a Friday evening over to Caldicot. Excellent weather, not too hot or too cold. An enjoyable day out with Hive Mind Mead & Brew Company. A Bee Keeping course in the morning and a Mead Making course in the afternoon. In between both courses, I had a relaxed walk around the grounds of Caldicot Castle!

The town itself isn't particularly interesting, but it has a lovely castle with attractive grounds - great for walking round and also entrance at times. Surrounding countryside is also attractive with easy access to the Wye Valley, Roman remains at Caerwent and the Brecon Beacons.

The reception staff! What lovely staff , such diamonds in the rough, quite literally! Very happy to clean the bathroom for me, friendly with the dogs, and probs the best thing about the place . Around the car park and back of hotel plenty benches and grassy areas for dogs . I liked that the hotel was dog friendly and reasonably priced for their charges. Plenty shops next to hotel . Plenty parking

Excellent location opposite the impressive Caldicot Castle, a short walk to the village centre and also nearby to the coast walk to view the Severn Bridges. Comfortable spacious rooms and a very good choice of breakfast. I left my wristwatch behind, which was returned by secure post, excellent service. Happy to recommend. Try the Castle Inn across the road, cracking little pub.

We used as a stop over on a long journey the hotel is fine nothing really to complain about just very very hot luckily we had a fan with us and a little noisy as we faced the car park and there was a car meet up with cars revving from 4am not sure if this was a one off and we just got unlucky but bed were comfy and had freeview tv and a mc Donald’s next door for breakfast

Lovely decorated guesthouse, with small things that make a difference (home-baked cake on arrival, good choice of teas in the room, conditioner...). Great breakfast with various options and very accommodating host. Caldicot was just a resting spot for the night, I wouldn't recommend visiting the town, but at least this stay made it more pleasant.

The Lychgate is only 10 mins from the main trunk roads and easy to find. It is located next to Caldicot Castle and has an excellent pub on the opposite side of the road. The room was boutique size, more than adequate for us. The room and property were spotlessly clean. Breakfast was plentiful. We would stay there again

the location was perfect for what I needed and the price was amazing however the room was dated not the cleanest and noisy. no air con and was uncomfortably hot. money needs spending on this hotel to get up to standard.

Absolutely everything was perfect, I have never been anywhere that offers so much for such a good price, even 4* hotels I have used don’t come up to this standard. Can’t wait to go again!
