The Jockey Club is a lovely building in the heart of Newmarket. Very convenient for local services and restaurants - Montaz being an exceptional Indian restaurant and the best dining option in the town by far. Location was as good as it gets for Newmarket. Cambridge is 30 mins drive, and there is much to see within a short distance. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent! It is worth noting the is is a private members club, and as such there is a dress code and certain rules that are worth noting prior to the visit, although they were not too demanding! The overall atmosphere was great!
Set amid rose gardens, this peaceful hotel has luxurious modern facilities and its architecture dates back to the 17th century. Excellent cuisine is served in the award-winning Squires Restaurant.

The breakfast is the only part that disappointed us. We were under the impression we would get a cooked breakfast - as per the reviews on a cooked breakfast. There was boxes of cereal, bread and buns that we could help ourselfs too.
Otherwise everything was very clean comfy and stylish

If visiting a local race yard obviously Newmarket is a base.
If visiting a local race yard obviously Newmarket is a base. The race horse museum is very good - allow 4hrs to do thoroughly.
Get up early and watch racehorses on the gallops.
Otherwise Newmarket is very run down these days. High street has many boarded up premesis and low grade eateries.
Nice curry house and Italian.
If we came again we’d stay in Cambridge and get a 20 min train.

The only thing I did not like was the description of the location provided by the owner of the Golden Boar was deceiving and not honest. I was led to believe by the description given to the location that it was in walking distance of Newmarket and as I have a very good knowledge of Newmarket for nearly 40 years I was horrified that I was in a small village with absolutely no public transport, no shop, WiFi on my own phone would not work due to the building and impossible to log onto the property WiFi my partner was in Dubai and this made life very difficult for us.
The property was actually 8 miles from Newmarket as told to me by all the taxi drivers I had. I was fortunate the taxi company had one or two drivers which would take my dog otherwise I would have been in extreme difficulty. The property is actually closer to Mildenhall and Bury St Edmunds than Newmarket as described. The taxis there and back even with me walking many miles still cost virtually £100 over the day and half I was staying.
I had a brilliant stay in a very comfortable and clean property. It has excellent facilities and is well appointed with all that you need such as an ensuite bathroom with a bath and a separate shower as well as toiletries and tea and coffee making available in the bedroom.
The continental breakfast is excellent and a wide range of options is on offer. The property is ideally located near the town centre and close to Newmarket races and the Tattersalls sales ring.
I would definitely recommend it.
Very warm welcome, when we arrived on Friday evening, we decided to stay for the Stevie Nicks Tribute and had a very enjoyable evening. The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Bed was super comfortable. We had a day at Newmarket Races and arrived back to the hotel in time to have dinner in the bar and the food was delicious. We will definitely stay here again when in the area and would highly recommend. Thank you Bell Inn for making us feel welcome…x
Easy access to Newmarket High Street, The Gallops and Tattersalls. Quiet, residential loctation. The kitchen was well stocked both with utensils, tea and coffee and condiments (salt and pepper, spices etc). The bathroom was well stocked with toiletries in case any had been forgotten. The presence of a dishwasher and washing machine was also very useful for a longer stay. A travel cot was provided for my one year old daughter.
Amazing stay especially if you like horses and art. It is a private members club not an hotel so it’s like staying in someone’s country house despite being in the centre of Newmarket. It was exceptionally clean and quiet. The staff were friendly, helpful and informative. Breakfast was good and a visit to the bar in the evening is a must. There is a dress code and it is just courteous to respect it.
We loved everything about the apartment it is spotlessly clean and luxuriously furnished, it has its own garden with a hot tub there is also a communal garden with two further hot tubs. Joanne was so warm and welcoming. It is about a 15 minute walk into Newmarket town centre, and about five minutes to see the gallops. Only a short taxi ride to Newmarket racecourse. We can’t wait to go back.
Beautiful room with a HUGE bathroom and such a peaceful location, a haven off the high street. Excellent value for money. Staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for you. This is not a hotel, you are staying in a historic private club surrounded by artwork and racing memorabilia. Breakfast was good. There is no restaurant or bar but you are a few steps from the high street.
Breakfast cooked to order and plenty of it. Super convenient location with very helpful management. Great parking. Clean and comfortable bed. Note that although there's a bar the restaurant (for dinner) is permanently closed, but it's a short walk to the High Street with many food options so this wasn't an issue. Great to see the racehorses passing in the morning.
The location was great. 5 minute walk from the High Street and supermarkets if you're self-catering. The house was very comfortable and warm. Exceptionally clean. We could easily have stayed longer than 2 nights (2 adults and 2 adult children). There were lots of little extras - nice selection of teas and coffees, toiletries, etc. Well-equipped kitchen.
Room was clean and comfortable with fridge, microwave and kettle. Entry was code so all of our party could get in and out without having key cards. Great location for Newmarket, straight out onto the high street with lots of restaurants and pubs walkable to.
The huge statement bath and bath bubbles were such a treat.
The great sized comfortable bed meant we enjoyed a good night's sleep.
Lovely views from the windows. Peaceful location.
The inn downstairs served up the most amazing food for our evening meal.
The location was ideal for Newmarket racecourse. Staff were very friendly and happy to help with anything we needed. Room was very clean and comfortable. Swimming pool area was clean and was nice to use sauna and jacuzzi.
Excellent location for Newmarket town centre. Very clean and loved the complementary bar, nice touch.
Breakfast was amazing lots of choice and cooked breakfast was very tasty.
Would stay again
Well appointed, comfortable and secure. Felt homely compared to staying in a hotel. Excellent for going to Newmarket races. Aaron was a great host and communicated well to make everything easy.
Private entrance, off street parking, and nice city center of Newmarket is close by. Also not far from Mildenhall RAF and Lakenheath RAF are only a 25min drive.
