Breakfast was the highlight of my weekend, gotta love that bacon 🥓 , and the bread was so soft I could sleep on it. Staff were really friendly, and informative. Rooms we're clean, and overall the building had wonderful interior. I would definitely stay at St James again, if I should ever return to Nottingham. I will recommend this hotel to whom ever wishes to visit Nottinghamshire. Thank you for a pleasant stay :) That bacon though :p

The bed was super comfy, although once we lifted the bottom sheet, we discovered it wasn't actually a mattress, just a large piece of foam.

Excellent service and pleasantly surprised we got an upgraded room on arrival as it was our wedding anniversary. Excellent choice of breakfast which was plentiful and cooked to perfection. Very good value for money. Lovely quiet setting within easy reach of Nottinghams attractions. Declan in particular was very friendly and took pride in his role at the hotel. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable with good facilities. Lovely building.

Famous for its association with Robin Hood, Nottingham is in the very heart of England. The outlaw’s legend lives on, with many city streets and buildings named after him and his Merry Men. A Robin Hood statue sits at the foot of Nottingham Castle, on a small hill with historic pubs built into it. Also cut into the rock are visitable caves extending under the city.
The Old Market Square is the largest in the UK and becomes a city beach in the summer, with rides and a small pool. Permanent fixtures are the impressive Council House with its Exchange Arcade shops, and the several Nottingham hotels with parking in the surrounding area.
During the 19th century, Nottingham was an important lace-making centre and many Victorian warehouses and buildings remain in the Lace Market area. Neighbouring Hockley is home to the National Ice Centre and independent shops, while the biggest shopping centres are Broadmarsh and the Victoria Centre.
In the western suburbs, by Nottingham University, Wollaton Park surrounds an Elizabethan stately home, while east of Trent Bridge cricket ground is the National Water Sports Centre in Holme Pierrepont. Sherwood Forest, Robin’s stomping ground, is near Mansfield, while East Midlands Airport is south-west of Long Eaton.

The University of Nottingham campus is a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city with its grassy spaces, views of the lake and beautiful trees. We had a car, and we were provided with a free parking permit for the duration of our stay. Transport around the city is easy by tram or bus.
We ate at the Orchard restaurant on campus where the menu is good, but there is also a small well stocked supermarket in the Portland building.
Wollaton Hall and deer park nearby is well worth a visit with lovely walks, a nice cafe and the house has interesting exhibitions and friendly informative staff. There is also a childrens; outdoor play area.

None of the shops display the number of the street that they are in. I spent some time trying to find a particular shop. I found the street, but without numbers on the properties, I walked back and forth. I did not visit any of the 'popular places' listed below.
A shopping centre is being demiolished in the middle of the city, involving walking around a building site. Speaking to someone the next day, I gather that the work has been going on for some time.

As an older traveller I found the city centre a little daunting (I lived there in my 20s). I think it has was is called a "vibrant" atmosphere. Lots of different cultures rubbing shoulders which was lovely, and tons of students. Nice to go back for a visit

Very clean and pleasant traffic free city centre. Some nice high quality shops, with several empty unoccupied shops as in most city and town centres. It is over 40 years since my last visit and I feel sure it has improved since my last visit.

I'm a quiet person so I don't enjoy loud and busy streets.
I'm a quiet person so I don't enjoy loud and busy streets. Too many dark areas and alleyways.
Plenty of places to eat though, varied selections.
Nice areas to walk as well with historic monuments.
The location, perfect for a theatre visit with lots of local choice for pre theatre meals and after theatre drinks. We were upgraded to a premier double which was really comfortable. Clean, roomy, with a huge bed! And the best night's sleep in a long time. Breakfast was substantial and relaxed. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Midday checkout meant no rush, and once parking was paid we could have as long as we liked to explore the city centre before picking up the car later. Really good value for money.
The hotel was exactly like the photos on the booking.com site. The hotel is in excellent condition following refurbishment and has a large free car park for residents to use. Bed and pillows comfortable tea and coffee facility provided and good shower in the bathroom.
Price of room very competitive with others in the area. Bus stop about 300 metres away from hotel with buses direct to city centre. Has lounge available for guests to use. Good tv and internet reception.
Room looked brand new and very clean. Bathroom is a pod and was new and clean also. TV and Tea/Coffee in room.
Bed was comfortable and had additional pillows available. Room was very quiet, no outside noise at all, considering the city centre location.
All you can eat buffet style breakfast was available and very nice, the coffee excellent. The overall quality of the hotel is far better than I expected for the price.
The reception staff were incredibly helpful and pleasant. The hotel was spotlessly clean, the room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. I had a quick drink in the hotel bar the drink was presented nicely and reasonably priced. The price of the room was the cheapest I. Nottingham City Centre that night so I wasn’t expecting much, but I was very pleasantly surprised and would definitely stay again.
The location of the hotel was walkable to the city centre with easy access to public transport. Was also a lively bar across the street and local shops just down the road. Staff at the hotel were very helpful and bar staff were particularly friendly and chatty.
Staff Carol really nice and helpful... good full English breakfast... lovely family room with comfy beds..
Very clean hotel and nicely furnished.
Bus stop right outside which was great for going into the centre.
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the owner Mr. Malkiat was amazing. He helped us to make our stay comfortable & he is a good person with better understanding. It's very easy to access City Centre.
Very large room with huge bed and kitchenette facilities and high tech control pad for tv and aircon. Compact but usable en-suite. Hotel was in the perfect location for exploring Nottingham city centre.
The hotel was a few steps away from the railway station. My visit involved finding the location of a talk being held in the city. The hotel staff helped, by supplying me with a map of the city centre.
Well presented apartment in the city centre - pictures matched the property.
Comfy and clean, had everything that you needed, during the stay they checked in to make sure everything was ok
Location - very central for city centre and Motorpoint arena. Although a very busy hotel it was very quiet in the room. Slept well in a very comfy bed.
