The family room we stayed in was extremely good, really it was 2 rooms joined by a doorway. The atmosphere in the hotel was warm and friendly. I liked the decor very much. The location was superb for walking into York. Parking spaces are limited. It would be nice to be able to leave your car there for a few hours on the day you check out. Hence be able to walk into York again. |

The staff were very helpful and welcoming, breakfast was very nice, and the hotel was very charming with a festive feeling,it was very clean and info on the area was good, it was only a short walk to the shops and restaraunts. Nothing that could really have been helped,a couple of odd maintenance jobs needed looking at in bathroom but i would imagine they will probably look at these in the new year when it is quiet so not to upset guests during their stay.all in all it was good. |

Good location, helpful staff and clean with good breakfast. Room 7 bathroom very small and although the fittings are relatively new, they are of poor quality and not what is expected in a room costing over £100/night. |

The rooms were beautiful and very comfortable, the staff were extrememly freindly and helpful really going the extra mile to ensure we enjoyed our stay and the location was ideal, only a short walk to all the shops and restaurants but tucked away enough to be peaceful and relaxing. we probably would have enjoyed a bar area to enjoy a relaxing drink when we arrived. |

Very well appointed hotel, in a quiet location within walking distance of the centre of York. The early bird meal at its sister hotel, The Churchill is very good value for money. |

The four poster bed was very nice, the bath being in the bedroom was a nice quirky touch and the breakfast was cooked to order which was great knowing that it was all freshly prepared. The mattress in the room was very hard and the cushions on the bed were filthy, like they hadn't been washed for a long time they were full of stains. The wallpaper on the ceiling in the bathroom was starting to fall off as well. |

I thought for a small hotel it was a nice extra touch to have the offer of smoked salmon & scrambled egg for breakfast. The hotel had a cosy feel and after a hard days shopping it was a great place to unwind. We would definitely use this hotel again. |

Greeting was lovely and the whole stay was fantatsic! Staff very helpful and nothing to much trouble, the decor was really thought through and added to the whole experience, we were lucky enough to have a 4 poster and jacuzzi bath we were celebrating our 1st wedding anniv. And the hotel was perfect. Not really but if we were being really picky the bath was a little dirty ( hair in the plughole) and the plug did'nt work properly but did'nt spoil the experince at all. |

breakfast was good No heat in bedroom throughout our stay. No towels in bathroom on arrival. Had to request twice. Staff v unhelpful, made excuses re heat and jacuzzi which didn't work. Room 7 advertised as four poster bed, simply had 4 corner posts, no drapes. No reduction in expensive rate despite all this. |

The staff were very helpful, the room was large and nicely decorated. Breakfast was very good. All in all a pleasant stay. The bathroom could do with being updated (room 8) otherwise it was excellent. |

The fantastic breakfast and well prepared family room - we had no need to ask for anything extra. There is no communal area except the dining room - with 2 young children you had to get out if not to go mad! |

Very nice hotel with individual design to room easy walking distance to york and located in quiet street. Staff at breakfast very accomodating and polite. Lovely looking bed but uncomfortable as mattress was rock hard !would have been nice to have a lounge to go to sit in for a quiet drink and read the paper etc |

The friendliness of the staff on arrival was so welcoming, and so willing to make your stay a happy one. The decor of the room was exceptional, like something out of country living magazine. |

Breakfast was good. Privacy and flexibility good. Off-road parking and the proximity of the hotel to most of York's major attractions suited out needs. |
