(April 24..) LIKES: Lovely characterful old building yet very nice, modern rooms, clean, very good beds, very nice bathroom (despite rather leaky sink). Generally friendly, very nice & helpful staff. Decent breakfast, good check in & out times, handy, pleasant cafe, great central location (- lovely village & brilliant for Blenheim palace).Very good value for money overall. Ok some others maybe slightly more luxurious, but, from my research (the others;) didn't look more attractive, were much, much more expensive, mean on the check in- & out times, & charged extra for breakfast (- seems more of a rarity to get it included, as here, which was great & really helped our budget..Yes I've had better/greater choice, but it had always cost/cost more in that case. It was absolutely fine here & we had enough..They do attempt to cater to individual tastes/requirements where possible). So all in all, feel they are generally beating their competitors, especially on the more budget end. 😁👍

Beautiful small town.
Beautiful small town. Plentiful accommodation and restaurants, most of which were dog friendly. Ideal for visiting beautiful Blenheim Palace and nearby Oxford. We ate at Punchbowl pub , good friendly service, very dog friendly, food and drink good. Would not stay at Macdonald Bear next time but probably at one of the many pubs that had rooms.

Our trip was fundamentally to view the lights and the house at Blenheim Palace; the theme was Sleeping Beauty.
We arrived at about 3pm. Just right as dusk was setting in. We toured the house which was utterly incredible - How a person or company could put together such a phenomental piece of design, unchanging in its beauty, throughout the rooms that had been decorated to continue the theme - I do not know. To continue outside and see the light display was nothing short of sensational - it lit up the whole of the 1.5 miles of the walking tour and the evening sky. An unforgettable experience. The next day we shopped through the village enjoying its ancient buildings and some of the shops filled with objects d`art , clothes, furniture and lighting. An experience that cannot be better but can be changed...........in summer.

Woodstock is a pretty medieval town with many eateries, interesting shops, a free museum, lots of walks and, of course, Blenheim Palace nestled next to it in all its splendour.
Apart from the main Street, there are many attractive side streets to explore.
The buildings are attractive, being made from the local stone which was also used to build Blenheim Palace. They appear to ‘glow’ in the sun.

Woodstock has everything you could want from a small town – plenty of nice pubs that serve food, independent cafes and shops, including a great little independent bookshop and Louisa Maybury’s amazing textile shop.
From the moment we arrived the staff were fantastic. The hotel has a magical elegant historical charm there is nothing negative to say on any part . Perfect location for Blenheim palace . Carpark excellent as we arrived early and parked up then walked to the palace . The breakfast was one of the best , for choice freshness and nutrition, something for everyone. Freshly cooked by lovely friendly happy staff ( rare these days ) . I would now never stay anywhere but the Marlborough arms when visiting this area .
Location was perfect for our needs, as we wanted to catch the bus into Oxford centre, and to visit Blenheim Palace, which was only a short walk away.
Plenty of options to eat out in Woodstock, but we chose to cook in each night.
TV had Netflix available and also terestial channels, which was a nice touch.
Always used to stay at The Bear Hotel opposite, but pleased that we chose to stay in this apartment on this occasion, and will definitely stay in the future.
We loved the atmosphere in the public rooms. The staff were exceptionally friendly and efficient. The breakfast was excellent. We had a fabulous stay, everything was perfect, the staff are amazing, so helpful, the hotel is in a great location. There are no evening meal options but there is lots of choices of places to eat within easy walking distance of the hotel. There is private parking. The breakfast was great, lots of choice and the food was good quality. We'll be back. Many thanks.
This continues to be a good Hotel in a beautiful location and the few members of staff working are doing all their can to meet guests expectations and requests. The building is fantastic and the location excellent. Rooms are comfortable and they are very accommodating if you have a pet or need parking (albeit all comes with a fee).
I have stayed there for my short gateway from London and to visit Blenheim Palace. Woodstock is a magical place . The hotel was very good, the staff welcoming supportive and warm. Room just as I like it - magnificent. Enjoyed 100% my stay my room and my visit. Would recommend and will come back for sure . Thank you once again
Location, location, location! Lovely to have been able to stay so centrally. House was comfortable and just right for a short stay in Woodstock with Blenheim park virtually on the doorstep (if you know where the town gate is!) and plenty of shops to poke around and superb restaurants and pubs.
From the friendly service we received on arrival, the beautiful rooms which exceeded our expectation for the price and the great value breakfast, I would highly recommend this hotel if you are planning a visit to Woodstock.
Food and service were excellent. Great dinner and great breakfast. The hotel location is perfect, nestled in the heart of Woodstock. And the bonus ball is the short walk to the entrance to Blenheim Palace park.
