the staff were amazing. they had just experienced a kitchen fire three weeks before our arrival so unfortunately the dining room was closed. they took great care of us and made breakfast arrangements at a nearby hotel. we could just imagine what the ambiance would have been had they been fully operational. would love to return just to see how they are making out. one if the nicest and warmest experiences we have had.

Absolutely stunning, beautiful place full of character. We visited slightly out of season so was not too busy. Smiths is an amazing restaurant, specialising in gourmet burgers, you will not be disappointed! Lots of other independent shops selling a range of crafts, antiques and much more.
This was our first visit to bourbon on the water . We absolute loved it . It’s very pretty with nice shops, cafes , shops restaurants and pubs We did a walk to stow on the wold . The visitor centre in bouton was really helpful. Highly recommended
Beautiful village but extremely popular. Try and avoid visiting over a weekend if you can. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and there were so many people everywhere! And this was in October. Monday was much quieter but still people wandering around. Much quieter in the evening once all the day trippers had left. Sunset was a great time to photograph the village with our the crowds. Lots of eateries. Found the Wellington pub not as busy as the fancier looking places, but they did a very cheap and delicious Sunday roast lunch. Bourton was a good base for us to see many other villages in the Cotswold area.
Far and away the best Cotwolds town we visited. There was a whole town centre to explore, around the small river and the five (?) old bridges over it. Around them are a whole lot of interesting shops, and a low speed limit so you felt safe doing just that. Also, if you or your kids enjoyed the TV show "Brum", you can see him/it in the motor museum (7.50 pounds).
A place you can relax and take it all in. It feels like I was transported to another world. You can sit by the water, watch the ducks go by as you enjoy your ice cream. I can stay there all day and forget everthing. Try Bakery on the water. Their scones are amazing. The Motor Museum is right next door.
It's beautiful! We went in October thinking there wouldn't be as many people there, but it was very busy. We have been before but it's so nice there. You have to visit the maze when you go, it's very reasonable and great fun. Top tip for the maze, use the toilet in the carpark before you go in, nothing worse than needing the loo and you can't get out.
