We had a very pleasant stay. The hotel is clean, with a few restaurants and markets in the area, takes 20min by bus to the closest big city - Chania. The receptionist was also very cool and helpful and recommended us nice tours on the first day.

This 2-bedroom apartment in a small, privately owned building was very good value for a family holiday. The rooms were basic but clean. Located right on the beach with unobstructed sea views to the north, with a lovely pool, lots of great restaurants within minutes walk, several supermarkets nearby and the public bus to Chania town centre.

We like this area due to the beach, the local tavernas and the hotels. Kimatogi is our favourite taverna with delicious specials every day and our favourite hotel is Renieries on the top of the hill, with beautiful view and with the family athmosphere.
You can easily go to Chania with the bus which stops many places in Stalos. From this area the tourist buses also can pick you up easily if you want to visit Elafonissi, Balos/Gramvousa,Samaria Gorge but also to the other area of the Island.
Or with going by car it's also easy to get around and it's near to a junction to the Speed way.

Too quiet not enough to do and see.
Too quiet not enough to do and see. Restaurants not typically Greek mainly serving pizza and pasta. Couldn't get coffee before 9.am. There was no bakery. A lot of properties very run down. Very few general retail shops. It was better to catch the bus into Chania

We booked this hotel to be close to Chania but were very pleasantly surprised about what Stalos had to offer. We spent more time there than expected as it had a good selection of restaurants for both lunch and dinner. Lovely beach and a short(but busy) bus ride to Chania. An ideal base.

Stalos is mainly low rise and less heavily developed than further west. The live music at Dionysus taverna was excellent. The breakfast at Evilion bistro is also excellent and very good value.
There is good walking up into the hills through the olive groves. Lake Agia via Pano Stalos and Kirtomades (turn left at the bottom) takes about 1.5 hours though the cafe is closed on a Monday.

We only stayed for one night as we arrived late in Chania and needed a hotel close to the airport. The apartment was really nice and clean and satisfied our needs. Our plane was delayed and the owner was waiting for as to check in late. We could park a car in nearby car park. There was a lovely swimming pool and a garden. Beach only half a minute walk.
Everything was as expected. The sunset, the sea view, the weather. Maria and her husband are 2 wonderful people. Maria is always willing to help and make the stay perfect and the breakfast was delicious. Perfect for family or solo travelers. Totaly recommend it!! Stalos has nice beaches, tavernas and all you can think of. Only 15min by bus away from Chania town. Main busses on their way to Elafonissi, Balos or the Gardens of Crete drive through Stalos so you don't need to go to Chania for the bus. May vacation was perfect!! ❤️
The development was peaceful & quiet and away from the main road. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. The gardens were attractive and well maintained. The room was spacious and very clean and overall the facilities excellent. The bed was comfortable, the kitchenette was adequate. The external space was eccellent, well equipped and very spacious. The swimming pool was a good size and the temperature perfect. Access to a washing machine was great as we had been on the road in Crete for 4 weeks.
Wonderful little hotel with breathtaking sea view, just metres away from the beach and sea. Comfortable and very clean apartment, WiFi connection worked in the whole hotel area and even on the beach. Everything needed (shops, restaurants, bakery) is on walking distance and all the beautiful places in eastern part of Crete are in hour of car-drive (Elafonissi, Balos, Chania, Rethymno etc.). The staff was very helpful and friendly - special thanks to Giannis who organized operation "teddy bear left behind" :).
An excellent position, quiet but close to everything. A simple strutture made cool and beautful by a sea of flowering plants and attention to details. The owner and manager, Klery, is a very special lady who does everything in her power to make your stay both comfortable and memorable. Little extras such as raki, marmelade and so on awaiting you after a hard day on the beach! If we ever return to Kato Stalos it will be to Hotel Kleopatra.
Right on the beach! Beautiful sand, short walk from back of hotel to clean beach water. No slippery rocks, no sea urchins, can swim without care. Beach chairs available at hotel and adjacent. Excellent food options steps away. Parking available too. Super convenient. Room cleaning daily. Nice balcony, fully stocked kitchen and refrigerator, cooktop. Laundry line with clothespins on balcony, very convenient!
The apartment is located in a peaceful, serenely quiet place. I had two balconies, one is for the sunset and another one is for a sunrise!
Beautiful surroundings with the garden and roses! Everything is well maintained!
Close to everything you need (5 minutes to walk), bus line, beach, nice restaurant Maria, I would highly recommend !
Special thank you to Irini and her family for the great hospitality!
We have very fond memories of our stay in Crete at Sofoklis Apts. The apartment was clean and equipped with everything we needed, from kitchen appliances to products such as coffee, tea, olive oil, sugar, jam, butter, orange basket, including a delicious welcome treat and a bottle of wine.
The hosts are very nice, helpful and welcoming.
I definitely recommend everyone to visit Sofoklis Apartments!
From the hotel terace there is a most beautiful view at the sea (part of rooms a looking to the sea). There is a swimming pool, however we did not use it as it was still nice to stay at the beach.
The breakfast and the dinner is served by owners and was various and delicious.
There is a buss stop close to the hotel at the road, so Chania could be reached easily.
Everything was perfect ! Dimitris was the best host, he made us feel like we were at home and provided us with everything we needed and gave us great advices on the region. The house was so nice and clean and perfectly located, we could listen to some music by the pool without disturbing the other guests. If you go to Crete you have to stay there !
Excellent services, very helpful staff, good size room with kitchenette and balcony, family oriented hotel with good size children's pool, very good pool bar operated by Athena who was super helpful and smiley!! Food served was very good and the hotel is only one minute walk to a beautiful beach!!!! Great value for money!!
Perfect stay in Stalos. Full furnished and modern apartment, clean and comfortable, especially the mattress.
The hosts are very welcoming, nice and always available.
It was the best stay we had in Crete (we went around the island changing 5 studios).
- large breakfast
- private beach access
- super friendly staff
- family taverna across the street
-> we recommend to book a rental in advance to enjoy Crete and all its lovely beaches
