The old town has venetian architecture, the modern town that has grown around it has a wide array of shops and restaurants, and there are lots of beachfront businesses as you head along the seafront. We found that restaurant quality is better a couple of streets in from the front, but there are lots of options in either case.

Less touristy than Chania. Located between Chania and Heraklion, makes it ideal for visiting both as well as archaeological sites etc.

Rethymno has the right mix of old town charm, modern hotels, a beach and a nice promenade. Plenty of places that serve authentic Greek food at very affordable prices, nice shopping opportunities, a pretty good beach - overall, I think Rethymno is better than Heraklion or Chania for a vacation stay.

We were in the Executive Suite with Sea View-Private Pool and Sauna. Amazing room, for a dicent price! Very good breakfast that was included. A big selection of fresh food. For the guests of the hotel there is a discount for renting umbrellas and chairs at the beach. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Our flight back was later in the day and they let us check out later. We used their taxi service. It was on time and easy to arrange.

The suite is located in a central area on the beach in the Old Town. There is a plethora of entertainment choices literally under your feet and despite their proximity from the suite, the property is rather quite, having no trouble sleeping.
