Skala is delightful, but Patmos overall is incredible.
Skala is delightful, but Patmos overall is incredible. We visited the beautiful village of Chora, the monastery of St John, the windmills, and the spiritual cave of the Apocolypse, where John wrote the book of Revelation in the Bible. All was achieved in one day by taxi from Skala. The entire trip was from the island of Kos by ferry, with a 2 night stay in Skala. Well worth it. Wonderful !! There are many paths that appear to be footpaths but are...
There are many paths that appear to be footpaths but are actually roads. Once you are aware of this, it makes it easier to travel with a scooter, which I recommend. these paths are also great to get around by foot and it is a nice walkable area.

Pleasant, very typical Greek port town, with meandering streets and reasonably restrained tourism. Some great restaurants. Easy access to the famous monastery by bus, and the cave where John supposedly wrote the Book of Revelation; also easy bus access to some great beaches (and some not so great). Well worth a short visit, but not if your preference is for boisterous nightlife.MaiteSpain - 10Scored 10

A very nice compact town with a lovely array of shops, restaurants and bars. Beautiful harbour and a stunning hora above the main town. We were there in the 3rd week of September and the buses were still running. Netia restaurant at the far end of town was our favourite, followed by Pantelis. Best beach accessible by bus was Kampos.

Skala is a lovely place to visit.
Skala is a lovely place to visit. Hiring a car made a difference and we were able to travel around. Stefonos did hire cars and bikes at reasonable price. Would definitely recommend this property. Owner and his wife very pleasant and accommodating

Also the hotel is at a walking distance from the ferry port, no need to take a taxi just walk 10 minutes.. There is a decent beach nearby and a nice pool in the hotel. Rent a car from next door shop and visit other beaches and Chora, the medieval village around the monastery. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay. If we come again Skala Hotel will be the only choice for us.

This house was the cleanest and most beautiful house we have ever stayed in as a family. It is a brand new renovated house in the center of Patmos Skala. Best location, 2 min walking to all the restaurants and cafes. Incredibly romantic surroundings of Greek churches and small streets with street cats around. We will be staying again here next year. It is a quaint little place that soon wins you over and you wish you had stay longer. We had come from mainland, where we stayed at a 5-star hotel, with amazing facilities and the rest, but Villa Zacharo's simple breakfast and humble stance will stay with me forever, as will Patmos. Thanks Jacob. There is an aura of peace about this place.

Before we even checked in they brought out this beautiful platter and cold drinks. It was one of the best check-ins I have had in my life. The rooms where great and so was the service for my entire stay, my only regret is that I did not stay longer.MariosGreece
