TurkeyEverything about our stay at Patmos Eye Boutique Hotel was perfect and so thoughtfully done. Nikos and the whole team were incredibly warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay.
The location is amazing with beautiful views, the hotel was spotless, and the breakfast had delicious local options every morning. We were also kindly upgraded to a room with pool access, which made the experience even more special.
They helped with early room access, stored our luggage, and even managed to find us a car during a very busy season on the island. Unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to try the spa, but we would love to experience it when we come back to Patmos.

United StatesThe location of the hotel is perfect, you can see the entrance to the courtyard from the ferry pier. We were able to check in early. The staff were incredible. We came to Patmos to visit the Cave of the Apocalypse and the Monastery of St. John. The staff's advice about how and when to go proved invaluable and improved our experience immensely. They also suggested wonderful restaurants and other activities. The breakfast was wonderful.

The town is easy to walk around, not too big or small, with interesting shops and pretty squares and alleyways. Our favourite tavernas were Agora and Pantelis, and for a buzzing cafe, try Houston. Be aware of the busy road at the port area. There are two well stocked supermarkets, Proton at the back of town and Sklabenitis on the road to Chora.

A beautiful little island.
A beautiful little island. You have to get around to some of the islands beaches to get a feel for the more remote tranquil spots. A must is to get up to the monastery as the views are to die for. You get a glimpse of Samos and Liosi from up there and the two bays either side of Skala.

Lively little town with plenty of options for eating and...
Lively little town with plenty of options for eating and drinking at reasonable prices. Gets even livelier when the cruise ships dock... but they don't stay long. A small town beach ideal for families. Buses take you to other key places on the island from near the port. But the shops are really expensive if you want to buy clothes, jewellery or that type of souvenir - astronomical in fact! Is that because of the cruise ships or the yachting brigade? Who knows, but a dress in Patmos is 4x the price of a similar item in Kos Town. Very chi-chi shops.

We hiked up to the Cave of the Apocalypse.
We hiked up to the Cave of the Apocalypse. The cave was very moving and I noticed the smell of the incense. We then walked on up to the monastery of St. John the Theologian. Very impressive structure. We took many pictures. The roosters were crowing as we walked up the hill. We saw goats in several backyards. And we saw many cats —everywhere.
We had a late breakfast at Benetos Chora on the way back to our flat in Skala. Very, very good and at a reasonable price; I would definitely go back.
Once back in Skala, we walked west toward the opposite waterfront. This side is unprotected from the Mistral winds from the Northwest, so no boats are moored here. The beach there is very rocky.

We had no car so we enjoyed exploring by walking and finding...
We had no car so we enjoyed exploring by walking and finding that distances were not that large - for example our best walk was uphill from Skala to Chora (and mainly on footpaths, not roads), then downhill to Grikos Bay, then along the coast past an interesting large rock formation to some shipyard, then a bit of road to the opposite coast finishing with a short interesting hike to Psili Ammos beach with wonderful golden sands! After swimming and a good taverna meal we walked back to Grikos Bay and then took a bus back to Skala. The bus timetable was not too large and we found we had to plan well if wanting to get the bus back home on any occasion but then again taxis probably would not cost much, it is a small island after all. Plenty of bakeries in Skala but you might find that one has a lot of sweet cakes and no croissants, so keep hunting till you find what you want! If we had had more time we would have taken the Patmos Star ferry to Leros for the day but at least we know for next time. There is a small beach in the harbour opposite Ammos Cafe - cafe on the sandy beach and one changing cubicle - we never got round to swimming there but it always looked clean and attractive for a dip!

Skala has a lovely central area with restaurants and shops, and is pleasant to wander around.
It is convenient so close to the ferry port.
It was easy to hire a car and there were large public parking areas. You need one if you wish to visit beaches. Psili Ammos in the south is worth the half hour hike in for its fabulous sandy beach with a good taverna.
But there were no beaches within walking distance of Skala.
St John’s monastery is certainly worth the visit.
We jumped on a ferry to Lipsi island for a great day trip.

Loved Captains House..the staff, port view, proximity to the village, port bus stop etc.
Kathy and Larissa were welcoming and friendly. We were offered choice of pool or port view despite having had to book a pool view..port view thank you v much ! The breakfast was lovely and plenty of choice. Enjoyed taking our coffee down onto the small shingle beach infront of the hotel to ferry watch.
The hotel and room was absolutely spotless.
Thank you Kathy and Larissa for everything you did.
We loved Patmos and will definitely return.

First of all, we were welcomed so warm and let us early check in (the room was ready). It was literally 3 minutes walking to reach the hotel from the port. even though it is located in the very center area and our room has a sea view but there was no disturbing noise at night. The room is cleaned everyday and smells so good. I would choose Delfini for my next visit to Patmos.
