I'd recommend max two nights in Monemvasia. The old town is beautiful and easy to access. No more tha half a day is needed to explore it however it has several very nice restaurants which you can go back to and enjoy for dinner. There are no organised beaches in the immediate area though you can swim off the rocks at the base of the rock or travel not to far to other towns to swim. We stayed two nights and enjoyed our time., Although, you could spend one night and see it all. You must walk up the Rock to the old church. You should also make your stay at least 4 full days to allow time to get to know the locals who are fantastic people. This hotel has the potential to be outstanding but little...
This hotel has the potential to be outstanding but little things let it down. On the positive, it has a fantastic location, very comfortable bed and good breakfasts overseen by polite and attentive staff. On the negative, it is not well maintained. The hot tap in our bathroom was almost seized, the toilet seat was loose, circa, half of the windows and shutters within the room needed adjustment to open and close correctly - all these things should be easily reported daily by cleaning staff. Upon being shown to our room, we were told the tap water was salty and were provided with 2 x small bottles of water to make tea - but these were not replaced on day two. We were told that to have a shower we should turn on the water heater 25 minutes before required and then to turn it off again when we had finished. I do not expect to do this in a hotel. The foregoing are issues that can so easily be resolved and would create a great experience but when they are not, sadly leave you with the feeling that you are not valued.Guest review byPaulGibraltar - 10.0

Monemvasia is a beautiful and unique place.
Monemvasia is a beautiful and unique place. A mideval town on a rocky island with beautiful views from the top of the hill on the sea and the coast. Romantic small streets with souvenir shops, cafes, bars and tavernas, stone houses and churches. It was very very close to the Monemvasia medieval town and was very easy to access. The water in the showers was always nice and hot (which is hard to find in Greece), but the design of the bathroom is a bit odd haha. If you are just here for 1 or 2 nights i think it's perfect. The location is very nice, far from the noisy central square, but still quite near. The rooms were very clean, with super comfy mattress and pillows.
