Gouves its a village, perhaps not as glamorous as Chania side of Crete but I liked it. Is a bit unpolished, I would say, not with that feeling of drowning under the - all included large hotel complexes and the tourist vulgo that comes with it. Its a more apartments district with greeks coming on vacations too. Plenty of taverns with prices ranging between; main courses 7-14€, drinks 5€ and cocktails 7€, breakfast 5-8€. It also has several Super markets, two of them larger with everything you need. All the above its at walking distance. 10 min with the car or moped from Gouves up inte mountains, you come to smaller villages like Hersonissos with fantastik tavernas and beautiful views.

A charming village, about 15 minutes from Heraqlion by bus (no. 2 from the airport).
Do NOT miss the Asteria taverna next to Lavris hotel: every Sunday and Tuesday a live performance of traditional Greek and Cretan music, with the beautiful Anna teaching Greek dances. It's not a tourist taveran (although there are tourists there of course) but aimed mainly for the locals. We will remember our two visits there as one of our unique experiences in Crete, and no doubt the most enjoable of them.

The day I was in Gouves the beaches were basically nonexistent due to the high tie and was very very windy. Walking along the sea was nice but given the nice beaches the island has to offer I'd rather go somewhere else or at least not stay there for long
Everyone is quiet, considerate and polite with very clean happy smiles.
The hotel is COVID-19 aware and all precautions were taken, something that i appreciated a lot.
Wonderful staff here who made my stay amazing The room was clean with comfy bed. Wonderful location in easy walking distance to the main area of Gouves and some fantastic restaurants. Breakfast was great and you could eat it out by the pool.
The hotel is pet - friendly, and very "polite" with my pet too ;)
Don't hesitate to book!
This hotel is fantastic! Great facilities, very clean, amazing pools with plenty of sunbeds and cabanas. All the staff is super nice and made our stay very relaxing and enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel, it has great value for money. The food was tasty and had great variety of sea food, fresh fruit, cheeses, meat and etc. The beach is also very clean, quiet and nice. We stayed at a room with shared access to the pool which really made our vacation with our own sunbeds.
The three brothers (and other family) that run this hotel are gorgeously genuine nice people. Hard not to enjoy yourselves with such lovely people looking after you. They looked after me and my family like we were their own.The location is great, cocktails are great and the service first class. I'd buy each of them a pint in my local if I ever bump into them and invite them over for a barbecue or a roast dinner. Thanks for a lovely holiday.
Giannis gave the best massage ! I actually got a second one .
The food was so good. I’m vegan and there was an entire section for me at every meal . Dessert bar. Tons of meat options as well as pasta and nuggets and fries for the kids .
The room was great. I have a knee injury and needed a room with a tub not a shower and they where accommodating.
Stelios at the bar was awesome
Great location right by the beach and souvenir shop
This was our second visit to the Island Hotel and definitely not the last one. This hotel is a little piece of heaven for those who want to wind down and relax. The staff is extremely polite and friendly, the premises are spotless, the pools are heavenly and the food is absolutely delicious. We got a room upgrade this time and we are very grateful for that. We are looking forward to visiting the Island Hotel again!
The staff were attentive, friendly and were helpful when asking for places to go and activities to do. The food was great but some foods were repetitive but they were still good, the alcoholic drinks were mixed well and some poured heavy handed- definitely no complaints about that! The hotel was always kept clean and everything was replenished.
Martin and Zuzana are fantastic hosts. The place is very big and nice. The kitchen and also the entire place is very well equipped - we had coffee capsules, water in the fridge, and even detergent for the washing machine. Got very good recommendations from Martin and would definitely consider booking again if visiting eastern Crete.
The hotel is suitable for recreation with children. Delicious breakfast. The room is extremely clean, cleaned every day, beds are made. Quiet environment, swimming pools for children. The sea is nearby, you can walk, but the hotel bus also takes you to the sea. Helpful staff. Car rental nearby. There are several local shops.
The animation team was really fantastic. Great shows and entertainment every day. And the mini club for children was also very good. Our kids of 4 and 6 enjoyed it a lot!
The beach is on walking distance, hotel staff is very friendly, rooms were hygienic and cleaned every day, buffet is ok.
Sensus was great and the rooms were modern in design.
Staff at reception and restaurants were friendly, very accommodating.
Hotel manager was very kind, as we arrived very early from Athens she made an exception to allows us to check in early.
The breakfast was acceptable but the same variety every day. The stuff were very friendly and polite. The room was cleaned very well, towels were changed after 2 days. Air conditioning worked well. The atmosphere in the hotel is very pleasant.
My stay at this hotel was a pleasant surprise. It's a well mentained place, in front of the sea. I meet here excellent personal, client orientated. They have a very good restaurant and an excellent buffet offer for the meals.
The place is clean, not far from the airport, and is near the beach. The food was amazing and the staff couldn’t be more helpful. Everyone was incredibly nice and friendly and helpful. I would go back in a heartbeat!!!
Fast and stable internet (50mbs)
Everything is new including silent AC
There is always hot water
Close enough to all the attractions and beach but far enough to have peace and quiet for a perfect rest at night.
Amazing and super lovely hosts, I felt like part of the family and very welcomed. Food was great, and their restaurant is one of the most beautiful that I have seen in Greece.
Location is one of the best in Gouves, Restaurants and shops right around the corner. Very spacious balcony with comfortable furniture. Host was very kind and caring.
