Situated in the region of Central Macedonia, Thessaloniki is the 2nd largest city in Greece and a precious cultural center. Built near the sea, this modern metropolis used to be the crossroads between east and west, and houses some of the most amazing Byzantine and Ottoman monuments.
This lively city is full of large avenues, green squares, stunning Neo-Classical buildings and stylish shops. The White Tower of Thessaloniki is an imposing landmark on the waterfront and is the symbol of the city - a reminder of old times.
Visit sophisticated Thessaloniki, and you will have the chance to meet some of the most important Greek artists and musicians. The city has also an energetic nightlife featuring a number of clubs, bars or "bouzoukia".
Famous for the traditional taverns, restaurants and "ouzeries", the Ladadika neighborhood is the old Jewish quarter, filled with picturesque narrow streets. It's an ideal place to try some famous Macedonian specialities like bougatsa, souvlaki, and the delicious 'Panorama triangles'.
Thessaloniki International Airport is located about 9 miles away from the city center, and is the second busiest airport in Greece. Booking.com has a large selection of hotels, apartments and guest houses throughout the city.
Thessaloniki, a city rich in history and culture.
The city’s charm lies in its vibrant neighborhoods, historical landmarks, and delightful culinary scene.
My favorite spots included the iconic White Tower with its surroundings and the bustling Aristotelous Square. Both places are teeming with life and offer a glimpse into the city’s vibrant culture. I also recommend taking a bus to Ano Poli, a historic part of the city that offers stunning views and a glimpse into the city’s past. For beach lovers, a bus ride to Kalamaria is a must. The serene beach and the calming sea breeze make for a perfect day trip.
The culinary scene in Thessaloniki is a gastronomic delight. I particularly enjoyed dining in the bohemian part of the city, Ladadika. The area offers a great choice of food accompanied by live music, making every meal a memorable experience.
Getting around Thessaloniki was surprisingly easy. If you’re located near the city center, most places of interest are within a short walk. For longer distances, the city’s bus system is efficient and easy to navigate, especially with the help of the Moovit app.
In conclusion, Thessaloniki is a city that beautifully blends history, culture, and modernity. Whether you’re a history buff, a foodie, or a beach lover, Thessaloniki has something to offer for everyone.
This city holds a special place in my heart, and I find myself returning to it time and again.

The waterfront was very windy so I stopped at Aristoteles square. The square was nothing special.
The high point for me was discovering a little street by the name of Tositsa where there was a selection of antique shops. I bought a tiny oil painting from a nice Greek antique dealer.
The Kapani market which covers city blocks right in the downtown area was interesting.
Forget souvenir shops. Buy authentic Greek specialties from local stores for your friends and family back home.
And don’t bother trying to find a mailbox. Postage stamps and posting of cards and letters must be done at the post office. Exception: one large yellow post box at the entrance to the security lanes in the airport.

Beautiful city was excellent, many reasonably-priced, restaurants. The many bars and cafes and outdoor seating are among the best of any city. The location on the sea and its many museums and churches provided lots to do. We took a day-long excursion to Meteora that I would highly recommend; with longer stays we could have also gone to Philip's tomb and other historical places easily. The core of the city is small enough you don't have to use public transportation, and access to airport is good. The city seems much more neighborly, friendly and safe than Athens.

Thessaloniki is an amazing city.
Thessaloniki is an amazing city. Our only disappointment was not being able to stay longer. Wonderful restaurants everywhere, plenty of museums, delightful neighborhoods. We hope to return---sooner rather than later. And Sky Studios are first-class, but economical!! When we do come back, we plan to stay at Sky Studios again. Special thanks to Thanos!!

Busy, buzzing , friendly city with cool waterfront.
Busy, buzzing , friendly city with cool waterfront. Lots going on, great food options. Good transport links to airport by bus and to Volos/ Athens by train…& into mountains to see waterfalls at Edessa by train. Loved this place, very different from staying on the islands. Nice view of Mount Olympus across bay and easy access to see flamingo lagoon by bus.
We really enjoyed our stay in Hotel Luxembourg. Room was very comfy and clean and the location was excellent - it is in city center, near restaurants, bars, shops. Even though hotel doesn't have parking, the good thing it's that there are three parking lots only 1 min from the hotel. Also, the staff helped us in that direction, finding parking spot and explaining all needed information. I personally will stay again in Hotel Luxembourg when I visit Thessaloniki and I recommend the hotel to other visitors.
The view from the balcony was magnificent, over the fortress of Thessaloniki. Unlike in other downtown hotels, there is a place to stop with car and unload the cases, without the fear you would be picked up by the service. Just around the corner (30m) is valet garage, 15eur/day, 50 m on the other side of the hotel is a public parking, but I doubt it is much cheaper - maybe 2-3 eur less. Supermarket, shops and Tzimiski street walking distance. Good breakfast.
The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. It was well situated for our purpose which was to get to Lefkada.
We spent two nights here a few days apart.
On the first night we came after a 12 hour drive and there are some restaurants within 10minutes with the car. The second time we wanted to also visit Thessaloniki so we took a taxi from the hotel(there is a problem with parking spaces in the city) and back( around 12euro per trip).
This hotel is some way from the center of the city but we chose it for the country side feeling. It is located high on the mountain overlooking Thessaloniki and the thermaikos bay. The view is stunning, the room was very clean and comfortable. The restaurant was very good and the staff attentive and very polite. All in all our stay felt more like at a 5 star hotel. We are very happy with our experience!
The room was new and with really nice modern furniture. The location of the hotel was really good, close to all the main sights in Thessaloniki, including bars, restaurants and shops. Staff were polite, nice and available. Breakfast was both sweet and savory with plenty of food options. I extremely liked the restaurant within the hotel which offered good food for a good price.
Excellent place to stay in Thessaloniki:
Parking available nearby (about 20m away from the hotel entrance) - 15EUR/day.
Room was very clean, delicious breakfast in the morning.
The staff was very friendly and helpful (e.g. got a lot of useful info when we've asked the lady from the reception about nearby restaurants and shopping centers).
It was quite near the centre. And we found parking quite close. Also you can't expect 5 star premises if you re taking your dog. So to be fair it was quite good. Unfortunately we didn't manage to meet the owner but he tried his best to meet us but we were all the time out and about exploring beautiful Thessaloniki.
Close but not in the city center. Easy ro reach other areas, like airport and Kalamaria. Hotel had some parking positions which was good considering the parking problem of Thessaloniki. Spacious room with design. Welcome bottles of water were provided.Very nice bar close to the hotel, at the folklore museum garden
The hotel is perfect for getting around due to great location no frills accommodation we wee 2 60 plussers well travelled and quite fit the beds were really low so may be an issue if you are not fit. All in all a really cheap hotel in the middle of the hotspots in Thessaloniki
Staff really helpful and friendly
Amazing apartment with a hotel like feel. In the heart of Thessaloniki, minutes away from Aristotelous square, Tsimiski street, all the wonderful restaurants, Ladadika, The White Tower etc. We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Thessaloniki.
The staff and every part of our stay was just exceptional. The service gets better and better every time we visit. We became reward members and are looking forward to our next visit with this hotel! We can’t explain how grateful we were for the 5 star service we received. Thank you!
Cleanliness, location- very close to city center, strong WIFI, very friendly and helpful staff, very comfortable room, you can always find parking for free around hotel ,which is big plus, because parking in Thessaloniki it's a big issue.
The property looks very appealing from the outside! Inside is is also nice, but I wouldn’t give it 5 stars if I was comparing it to some of the 5 star hotels in Australia. The parking was convenient. The breakfast had a good variety.
beautiful boutique hotel, 5 star luxury, a must stay if you are planning a visit to this city. lovely staff, very friendly and accommodating. great breakfast, quality excellent.
