FAQs about hotels in Budapest

A City of Two Halves

With a dome reminiscent of Brunelleschi’s "The Duomo" in Florence, the Hungarian parliament building is undoubtedly the icon of Budapest. It sits majestically by the Danube, the river that both divides and unifies the 2 parts of this capital city: Buda and Pest.

Overseeing Budapest from its vantage point on Castle Hill is Buda Castle. Spectacularly lit at night, it has the best views across this attractive city steeped in World Heritage. Some unique points of interest are Heroes Square and the Museum of Terror, reminders of the city’s more turbulent past.

Much like in Vienna further up the Danube, coffee and cake is practically an institution in Budapest. And there’s nowhere better to try them than Gerbeaud - the elaborate décor alone makes this café well worth a visit.

To really feel like a local, make a trip to the thermal baths. The relaxed Gellért Baths are a triumph of Art Nouveau grandeur and, based on their sheer size, you can't miss the outdoor Széchenyi Baths. If unusual nightlife is your thing, the club nights at these baths are great fun.

With an impressive range of Budapest hotels, apartments and hostels available in this city of 2 halves, Booking.com makes it an easy choice.

Budapest is a vibrant city full of fabulous architecture. It is easy to navigate around with good public transport. Lots to see and do. Recommend at least 3 to 4 days. It has numerous restaurants and bars very reasonably priced. The New York Cafe a must.

Budapest is a magnificent city with a lot to offer.

Budapest is a magnificent city with a lot to offer. While some locals may seem less welcoming toward foreigners—perhaps influenced by their support for Orban—the overall experience is still positive. Prices tend to be high, likely aimed at tourists from higher-income countries (like Scandinavia, Switzerland, Japan, and the U.S.) rather than those on typical European salaries. The public transportation system is fast, punctual, and convenient. The city is also quite clean, with plenty of spacious areas for walking, running, and relaxing

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Maverick Urban Lodge, Budapest. This was my first time staying in a dormitory, and I didn’t expect such great service. Honestly, my satisfaction exceeded my expectations. Alexa and Parsa were fantastic—they listened to my requests and provided everything they could. The cleanliness was outstanding, and everything was perfectly maintained. The reception area is welcoming, and they organize events for travelers, like pub quizzes and solo traveler meet-ups. I highly recommend this place and will definitely visit again. I’ll also be recommending it to friends and family. An unforgettable experience!

    Budapest is always fantastic.

Budapest is always fantastic. But be careful and always pay with your card or Hungarian forints otherwise, if you pay in Euro, they will steal some % of your money at the currency exchange. Get a public transport pass for 24 or 72 hours and visit the whole city at low cost. Taste goulash and Hungarian chocolate. Really excellent

    Great for a weekend trip.

Great for a weekend trip. The city is perfect to easily explore all the important sights on foot. Always look up to the buildings while walking. So much "old world vibes" everywhere. Stunning, splendid buildings everywhere. It´s worth to queue at the very popular New York café. I also can highly recommend to book a "dinner with a view" at Virtu restaurant (28 floor) at highest building of Budapest. You will have a spectacular view of the city.

Parking in Budapest might be a bit tricky and expensive, and so I choose this hotel because I was looking for a place where I can safely leave my car over the night and still easily reach the city centre. The hotel has a surprisingly big parking lot behind the building, which was great. And the underground was in 5min walk, so the location was also perfect for us. The staff was really kind, and the room was very quiet and cozy, good value for money.

Unimpressive from the outside, but inside a completely newly renovated, excellent hotel. I had a very quiet room. Room furnishings and bathroom were excellent. Breakfast buffet was very good. The hotel is very close to the urban park and there are several interesting museums nearby. You can get to the city centre quickly by underground. The hotel staff is friendly and professional. I recommend this hotel for a stay in Budapest!
